They are story tellers. Every song has one. Even on some songs like “Run to the Hills”, “The Trooper” & a few others, you learn some history. Their lyrics have very deep meanings.

He is a registered airline pilot, he flies the bands tour plane, he's, obviously, the singer of a world class metal band, he was also, which explains his physique, a national level fencer. This is Maiden in the early 80's. You have to check out more Maiden in order to truly appreciate just how good they are. I highly suggest The Clansman live from Rock in Rio. It's mid 2000's performance but you see just how good they are.

Interesting fact - this performance at Hammersmith Odeon was timed to the release of the album so the crowd had never heard this song. Hence why they seem so spellbound by it; they're quite literally all experiencing what you are. Later versions show them totally rocking out and singing along. It's also why it's so raw and authentic.

As someone above said, come for the metal, stay for the history/philosophy lesson I've been lucky enough to see Iron Maiden 7 times, and every time they bring it. They are masters of their craft. Saw them in Memphis open for 38 special in 1982. They were touring with anyone they could traveling around in a station wagon and a box van. Knew when I saw them they were gonna be huge. They were promoting this album.

Iron Maiden are definitely entertainers not just musicians! Also this was 80s, they started late 70s but all their good shit, which this is, is in the 80s. They like to take you on a journey with the music.

Iron Maiden is my favorite band of all time. They are definitely gods of heavy metal. Although they have been around since the 70s, they are mostly predominately an 80s to early 90s metal band. The Steve Harris, Bruce Dickinson, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Nicko McBrain lineup was the best!

Trans Siberian Orchestra? You should check out the guitarists bands Testament and Savatage. I recommend Savatage "Chance" or Testament "The Ritual"
