Janet joined the cast of Good Times in 1977 at the age of 11, cementing her place as a star in her own right. Roles on 'A New Kind Of Family', 'Diff'rent Strokes', and 'Fame' followed. At the age of 16 her first album, which she recorded at the insistence of her father, was released. Janet's 3rd album 'Control', released in 1986 when she was 19, is the record that launched her into the stratosphere. It was her personal and professional declaration of independence.
@KB-xp6dqАй бұрын
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were insistent that Janet get out of the "Jackson Bubble" in L.A. and come to work with them in Minneapolis. She was forced to be more independent on unfamiliar ground, and they always catered their writing of songs to the personal aspects of the artist(s). This song was birthed because they actually got to know her (she didn't even realize that they were logging important info about her life before they ever stepped foot in the studio). Janet's first two albums flopped because they didn't have any of "HER" in them. "Control" launched her into the stratosphere (and later iconic status) because this one was ALL her.

Janet's father allowed her to go to Minneapolis with her new producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. She said being on her own with them in the studio she was able to be creative and write songs that expressed her feelings. Paula Abdul , who was a Lakers cheerleader and dating her brother Jackie, was chosen by Janet to help choreograph the Control video and several other songs from the album. Paula credits Janet for starting her career in the music industry. Janet's music career skyrocketed, and the rest is history. By the way, Janet Jackson has been on tour this year selling out arena's in the U.S. and abroad. She will start another Las Vegas residency this month where she started her career at the age of 7 with all of her siblings in 1973. At 58 years old, Janet celebrated 51 years in the entertainment industry this year.❤

Joe Jackson was in full control of her music, image and managed Janet's music career for her first 2 albums Janet Jackson and Dream Streets. And she married one of the Debarge brothers whose first name I don't remember right now and she had the marriage annulled shortly after being married. So she wanted to be independent and break out of her father's rule and control and her family's image and essentially her brother Michael's shadow. She was 19 when the Control album was released in February 86 but she was 20 years old when the single and music video were released in late 86. This song and her album and the Rhythm Nation 1814 album were produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Paula Abdul Abdul choreographed this music video in addition to What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty and When I Think Of You. React to the songs that I just listed please. And react to her Let's Wait Awhile, The Pleasure Principle, Miss You Much Rhythm Nation, Escapade, Alright, Come Back To Me, Black Cat, Love Will Never Do (Without You), That's The Way Love Goes, If, Again, Where Are You Now, Because Of Love, You Want This, Together Again and Feedback please. And react to the official music video for Control because it's a short film and it has the actress who played her character Penny's adoptive mother.

Control is Janet‘s third studio album produced by Jimmy Jim and Terry Lewis. Her first two albums was unsuccessful, 100% directed and orchestrated by Joe Jackson. Also, Janet was married to one of the DeBarge brothers and that marriage was tumultuous. Once she chose to take her career Into her own hands, she got rid of her father as a manager and decided to leave her marriage due to his drug addiction. Paula Abdul was a Laker cheerleader. Her and Janet met via Janet‘s older brother Jackie, Paula was the side piece and the reason why Jackie’s marriage ended. Paula only choreographed Janet‘s Control album and then they parted ways when the drama between Jackie and Paula blew up.
