@@rogerdodger6025 Yeah, you’re right. I worked at a “pop” radio station and “Let Love Rule” was played on rock or alternative rock stations. I didn’t listen to that album or know anything about Lenny until we started playing “It Ain’t Over…”. Then I backtracked and bought Let Love Rule.

This song reminds of Smokey Robinson. The Motown influence is written all over it. It came out in 1992, but could have easily fit in well in the 60's or 70's. LK's music does have a retro feel to it and that's a good thing IMO.

(It was rumored that he got the gig after running into Lenny at an award show and telling him..."I love your album, me and the wife f*ck to it all the time" referring to his first album.) His first album 'Let Love Rule' was released 35 years ago... This was the second album... Dedicated to his wife Lisa Bonet, mother of Zoe Kravitz in an attempt to save the marriage. 💔

When I first heard this song 30 years ago, I thought it was a remake of a Motown song. But I learned a few years later that it was all him. American Woman is a remake. The original artist is The Guess Who, and it was intended to protest the Vietnam War.
