This song is so, so awesome. Now I'm reliving the Jacksons along with you haha. I grew up with this music, they were always my faves. This video also predicted video call technology! This was not a regular thing at all that people used until decades later.

@@blackkatt777 not bashing just one is better than the other . Like comparing Jordan to lebron. Both great but there can only be one who gets 1st place . And for others they believe Beyoncé or Taylor Swift , or Lizzo etc etc

A very lovely fire reaction ❤‍🔥❤‍🔥❤‍🔥! I see 👁👁that you have reacted to Janet Jackson before: The Pleasure Principle, Alright, Black Cat, Nasty, What Have You Done For Me Lately, Let's Wait Awhile, Anytime Any Place, I Get Lonely, Miss You Much, Control, When I Think Of You, What's It Gonna Be!?, That's The Way Love Goes, Got Til It's Gone, All For You, All For You- Live, Rhythm Nation, Rhythm Nation- Live, You Want This, Scream, Call On Me and Escapade. If was released as the second single from Janet Jackson's 1993 album: Janet. It was written and produced by Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It sampled: Someday We'll Be Together by Diana Ross And The Supremes (1969). The song reached #1 on the Dance chart, #3 on the R&B chart and #4 on the Hot 100. The music video, filmed in Los Angeles, was directed by Dominic Sena and choreographed by Tina Landon and Janet Jackson, with additional choreography by Omar Lopez and Keith Williams. Actor Michael Gregory Gong plays Janet Jackson's male interest in the music video. Elements of the "If" music video choreography have been referenced frequently by artists, including: "multiple videos" by Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Aaliyah, Ciara, Mýa, Missy Elliott and N' Sync. The "If" music video in particular, helped establish Tina Landon's career as a legendary music video and dance choreographer. The music video received various accolades, including: Soul Train Music Awards for Video of the Year, Playboy Magazine Entertainment Awards for Music Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Dance Video at the MTV Video Music Awards and a Billboard Award for Dance Clip of the Year. It was also voted the second best female video of the decade by Idolator. As well as, winning the BMI Pop Awards for Most Played Song. Janet Jackson performed the song: "If", at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards in a song medley with the song: "That's The Way Love Goes". The song: "If", was also performed at the 2009 American Music Awards as promotion for her album compilation: Number Ones, during a medley with: "Miss You Much", "What Have You Done For Me Lately", "Make Me" and "Together Again". Critical Reception 🗣: Andrew Hammp from Billboard declared it a "rockin' dance track," with strings that "anchor the climax." The song's theme of avoiding temptation to interfere with monogamy was also noted, adding "Though Jackson lets her mind race with naughty thoughts [...], she ultimately stops herself from going after someone else's man". Another Billboard editor, Larry Flick described it as a "moist, seductive teaser, wrapped in an equally sexy pop/hiphop groove." He added, "Her honey-sweet voice bounces off cyborg guitar riffing, taking the rhythm-rock vibe of her Rhythm Nation hit "Black Cat" to a more intense level. Tucked beneath the pleasingly crowded production is an infectious chorus and a nifty funk bassline". A writer for Idolator called it an "industrial dance/sex epic" in addition to "infectious and raunchy," saying "Janet Jackson's unmistakable voice is used to perfection to create an eerily tropical but beautiful track". "If" was also interpreted as "a swirling epic number", fusing "90s disco with guitar-rock," using a "Jimi Hendrix-lite guitar" throughout the song. Jackson's vocals were delivered at "break-neck speed, practically rapping about the salacious pleasures of her lover," while its production had "a lot of styles on display," including "distorted synth meets acoustic guitar". Dave Ritz from Rolling Stone qualified it as both "subtle and bold," with Jackson's "bedroom fantasies" given "a fierce dressing-up - tough jeep beats, hard-rock guitar, and a Diana Ross & The Supremes sample - and some missed just what she was on about". Music critic Richard Croft raved "the janet. album was a big sex-fest from beginning to end but nowhere was it hotter than ‘If’," labeling the chorus "infectious, at the same time bitchy and vulnerable, defiant and desperate." The song's sexuality was considered to accomplish "the rare thing of being feminist and feminine at the same time without compromising either," saying the song is "a big pleading love song that put her totally at the whim of the man, and a big fuck-off anthem that said “I’m here, I’m Janet freaking Jackson, but if you’re not gonna notice me then get bent”. Phrased a little differently, of course". Janet Jackson Info 📰: Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born on May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana. She is a singer, songwriter, producer, actress, and dancer. She is noted for her innovative, socially conscious and sexually provocative records, as well as elaborate stage shows. Her sound and choreography became a catalyst in the growth of MTV, enabling her to rise to prominence while breaking gender and racial barriers in the process. Lyrical content which focused on social issues and lived experiences set her reputation as a role model for youth. In her early career, Janet Jackson credited her brothers Michael and Jermaine Jackson as musical influences. According to Rolling Stone and MTV, other artists she attributed as influences include the Ronettes, Dionne Warwick, Tammi Terrell, Diana Ross, Joni Mitchell, Chaka Khan, Lena Horne, Stevie Wonder, Teena Marie, Prince, Parliament-Funkadelic, Roger/Zapp and Tina Turner. The tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family, Janet Jackson made her debut at the MGM Grand. She starred in the variety television series The Jacksons in 1976 and went on to appear in other television shows throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including Good Times, Diff'rent Strokes and Fame. After signing a recording contract with A&M Records in 1982, she became a pop icon following the release of her third and fourth studio albums Control (1986) and Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989). Her collaborations with record producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis incorporated elements of rhythm and blues, funk, disco, rap, and industrial beats, which led to crossover success in popular music. In 1991, Janet Jackson signed the first of two record-breaking multimillion-dollar contracts with Virgin Records, establishing her as one of the highest-paid artists in the industry. Prior to her first studio project with Virgin, she appeared in her first of several lead film roles in Poetic Justice (1993). Her two studio albums which followed: Janet (1993) and The Velvet Rope (1997), saw her develop a public image as a sex symbol. These records, along with their promotional music videos and live performances in concert tours, branded Janet Jackson as one of the world's most erotic performers, garnering both criticism and praise. By the end of the 1990s, she was named by Billboard magazine as the second most successful recording artist of the decade in the United States after Mariah Carey. The release of her seventh studio album All for You in 2001 coincided with a celebration of her impact on the recording industry as the subject of the inaugural MTV Icon special. The backlash from the 2004 Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy resulted in an industry blacklisting under the direction of Les Moonves, then-CEO of CBS Corporation. Janet Jackson subsequently experienced reduced radio airplay, televised promotion and sales figures from that point forward. After parting ways with Virgin Records, she released her tenth studio album: Discipline (2008), her first and only album with Island Records. In 2015, she partnered with BMG Rights Management to launch her own record label, Rhythm Nation and released her eleventh studio album Unbreakable the same year. Since then she has continued to release music as an independent artist. Janet Jackson has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the world's best-selling music artists. She has amassed an extensive catalog, with singles such as "Nasty", "Rhythm Nation", "That's The Way Love Goes", "Together Again" and "All For You"; she holds the record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by a female artist with 18. She is also the only artist in the history of the chart to have seven commercial singles from one album (Rhythm Nation 1814) peak within the top five positions. In 2008, Billboard placed her number seven on its list of the Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists and in 2010 ranked her fifth among the "Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists Of The Past 25 Years". In December 2016, the magazine named her the second most successful dance club artist after Madonna. One of the world's most awarded artists, her accolades include five Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and eight Guinness World Records entries. In 2019, she was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ****CONTINUE BELOW****

Fun Fact 🕵🏾‍♀: An alternate version of Janet Jackson's music video: "If", known as the "All Dance Version" focuses solely on the video's choreography. This version was shown on many music channels due to the original music video's suggestive sexual visuals regarded as very explicit at the time. The uncensored video appears on Janet Jackson's music video compilation: "From Janet To Damita Jo: The Videos".
