A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ KZbin. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of KZbin I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on KZbin won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This KZbin channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different
This is a reaction video used to educated and give my feedback on the song and artist

The woman sitting there with her mouth open was Mama Cass from the group the Mamas and Papas. This was Janis’ first big break at this concert. Janis was an outcast in school in Port Arthur, Texas. She was bullied and made fun of and just had a few friends that used to get together and listen to a lot of old blues records. She was influenced by artists like Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey.

Yes, I too recognized Cass Elliot, and was surprised that she wasn't mentioned. But then again, if you weren't alive at the time, you might not know. Cass was a great voice with the Mamas and Papas, any of their songs are worth a reaction. In addition, Cass went out on her own and was very well received as a solo. Her solo songs are also worth a reaction. I love hearing reactions on songs from the 50s and 60s. Then again I started listening to rock and roll in the mid 50s.

Intense - powerful- conviction is Janis. and Sharon Jones- years later. Remember she was "too thin, ect.. You can literally feel tears of hurt, pain and to keep the fight challenge we face alive. Everyday in all of the songs. JJ was rejected in her own town and found Austin. Last laugh in those bullies. Search for Janis's interview with DC. She's a bright and funny old soul. She and Dick respected each other's mental challenges out and kept the conversation light:) JJ and SJ ✌ ☮ Hippy Bluesy Chick and all of the above. **Much appreciate No matter if we are poor, rich, ect...in the end we come and go, it's the footprint we leave behind for the next generation. She's 88 pounds of steel in a male dominated rock culture, and sexist to boot! The 88 pounds wasn't insensitive rather a long way to say that jealous people say hello to KARMA and she's a b*tch to get rid of.

Great reaction. As someone who was a teenager when Janis was alive and was totally crazy over her and Jimi Hendrix, it makes me so happy to see younger people discovering the icons of my youth. No one can compare to Janis. You can tell it wasn't really a "performance" for her, she was really feeling the words she was singing and expressing it as it happened. I love how several times her legs start shaking uncontrollably, that is the true sign of somebody who is feeling the music and so excited over it. This is pretty much her greatest performance. Janis originally started out as a folk/country-blues artist. Then she joined big brother and began to shed that. In December 1966, she caught Otis Redding at the Fillmore west--that changed everything. She knew Otis established a connection with his audiences, and if she was ever gonna make it, she would have to sing like him. That's when she went to what I call "Hard blues" here

This Monterey Pop festival in 1967, was put together by the Mama’s and the Papa’s band….an awesome band in it’s own right. This was Janis Joplin’s debut performance….introduced her to the public to her special blues talent. There is a documentary of her life called Little Girl Blue, which is excellent! She was bullied in school, growing up…in Texas. She broke out of there and moved to California. People fell in LOVE with her musical style and passion! She had two bands during her career. Big Brother snd the Holding Company was her first. This is them. She died in October 1970 by heroin overdose complicated by alcohol. She had been taking voice lessons to smooth out her voice so she wouldn’t ruin it…her last recording on her Pearl album was simply stunning!

The lady in the audience was Mama Cass Elliot of the Mamas and Papas. The Mamas and Papas were music royalty at the time. The fact that Janice dropped the jaw of Mama Cass is hugely significant.

Totally raw and real -- it's all about the meaning of the song with Janis.

The word you're looking for is "raw". Her voice is raw and full of emotion. There was never anyone like her before and no one ever since.

The significance of the shot of Mama Cass transfixed in the audience is that Mama Cass had such a transfixing voice herself in its own way, its totally a "GOAT recognizes GOAT" moment caught on film.

Probably the best one by Janis to react to. This showcased all she was about. Pure soul coming thru her mouth, overtakes her entire body. Hard act to follow, for sure. This was her "debut", and that woman in the audience is (Mama) Cass Elliott of the Mamas and the Papas, who was blown away by this "unknown" hurricane named Janis.

Absolute Legend brother! My mom idolized her. When I was in college I did a bunch of papers on her. When she was a little kid should sneak into the black churches oh, just to hear the singers. She has an amazing story. Great reaction man

Yaaaasssss! She always broght an amazing energy to her sound. The almost possession on her soul, when she performed, is similar to others that perform on that level. I.e., Elvis, Stevie Ray Vaughn...and others. Magical!

To me, Janis, that song is just pure, pure, raw pain! I don't have words to express how great I think she was.

Janis Joplin was a little known performer from Texas at this time, then she stunned every body at the Monteray pop festival with her performance. She skipped off of the stage where she met a man name Clive Davis who became her manager and the rest is history

Try Move Over. You really seem interested in her voice and influence. You are doing a great job to be open to music and it's history.
