Their song 'Mother Father' is an absolute iconic masterpiece, and the best version of it can be heard in the their live 1981 Escape Tour Video in Houston. In fact, that entire video will enlighten you to how great these guys are. Steve Perry is considered the best voice in Rock history, yes, even over Freddie Mercury. And fans confirmed this again a few months ago in a very recent Billboard poll with their votes! Steve received a whopping 67% of the vote! Their song 'Don't Stop Believing' was also inducted into this year's National Registry of the Library of Congress. That's a pretty big deal. Another thing that they're known for is that they sound better live than in the studio. And that's a fact. But you can't go wrong either way. But welcome to Journey, and enjoy the ride.

Surely one of the most lyrically beautiful songs of a generation • instantly recognizable opening chord progression, and of course Steve Perry's inimitable vocals. "Two strangers fall in love again," and "I get the joy of rediscovering you," are like poignant daggers to the heart of anyone who has experienced a rekindled love. Journey's 1981 Escape Tour live is, hands down, one of the best live concerts ever captured. 100% would recommend "Mother, Father" from that concert and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'". Love your channel.

Thanks for a very astute reaction to this song. Every member of the band was a top-flight musician. Steve Smith's drumming has won all kinds of awards, Neal Schon is one of the best melodic guitar players around, Ross Valory's bass holds the whole thing together, Jonathan Cain trained as a classical pianist but preferred rock, and the lead singer Steve Perry is recognized by many as one of the best rock vocalists ever. He certainly is one of the most emotional.

You need to review more Journey! and yes, those are the band members and a few road crew members in the video. BTW, the song was written by the keyboardist Jonathan Cain but I doubt that it would have been such a classic hit without the soaring and passionate vocals of Steve Perry

This video was made during the Frontiers tour. The members are all represented in the video, along with some of the crew. The keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote this for his then wife. And with Steve Perry voice, it's just one Classic Song!!! It kinda sounds like you're new to Journey?! Well next up should be ....... I don't know if anyone answered your question about wondering if those were actors or the band members, but they were the actual band members. This video was pieced together footage of the band's life on the road, between shows at performing at the shows. If you're a guitarist, check out some of Neal Schon's (their guitarist) solo works. He is an incredible guitarist, even if he is a deplorable person. Steve Smith, the drummer, is a highly technical, highly respected member of the percussion profession. Check out some of his instructional videos and just watch his wizardry. And then there's Steve Perry; the legendary voice of all the Journey hits. He is a vocal monster who can sing just as good (if not better) live. He has no equal.

The song suggestions everyone has already been recommending are great, for a drum specific song I'd throw in 'Back Talk'. You can find videos on Drumeo's KZbin channel where Steve Smith breaks down the drums for 'Don't Stop Believin'' and 'Separate Ways'. There are moments on the Trial By Fire album where the drums make me emotional. For some interesting structure going on 'Still They Ride' and 'Open Arms'. And their Greg Rollie/Steve Perry years are amazing too! Really though it's hard to wrong with Journey.

This song is a curse for sensitive men (regardless of a gender)...I know I'm "specific" almost 46 y.o. guy shame to admit but almost every time when I hear this song something squeezes by my throat 😢 I have tears in my eyes...😊.
