Vinnie was one of the, if not they most self-destructive musicians to ever come along. He was literally handed the golden ring when he was with KISS. But because he refused to sign contracts, he refused to sigh the insurance contracts and venue contracts that come along with playing in a major touring band, and his unwillingness to be a team player, he went from being in a position to not only become one of the most respected guitarists/song writers in a generation, to now being nothing but a footnote in KISSTORY. He could have truly been great.
@zmbdog11 ай бұрын
On top of that he would end up fired from his own band by the label (Chrysalis) for over-extending his credit and charging anything and everything back to them. Chrysalis would end up keeping singer Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum on contract to form a new band, which would end up being the much-more-successful Slaughter. They even did a song about Vinnie called "Burning Bridges" that appeared on their debut _Stick it to Ya_ .

Ohhhhhh you found a true treasure here! I LOVED Vinnie's work in KISS, especially on the "Creatures of the Night" album, and as you say his creativity was boundless, but the man just could NOT get out of his own way, and it breaks my heart. The lineup he had with the young Marc Slaughter was a powerhouse and "All Systems Go" is a masterpiece. But...sadly...Vinnie was one of those artists that was never happy. I understand...the writer/film director I worked with for many years was the same. He was never truly happy with anything he did...no matter how many people loved it. There's a video here on KZbin in which Marc talks about how he landed his gig with VVI and how hard he fought to prove himself. He was very respectful about Vinnie...Marc Slaughter is a true metal warrior through and through! Awesome vid...thanks for uploading!

"Love Kills" by VVI is one of the greatest songs of the genre. The song itself tells a story, and it builds up as one. Starting softly with the acoustic guitar and Mark's soft voice, then building up and breaking down again for the soft melodic part to then build up again to the chorus and later releasing all the emotions built up until that point in the beautiful guitar solo. This song is a masterpiece and you're right, the music video itself is so cinematic and goes well with the movie's story. Another song I'd recommend from that album is "That Time of Year" which, along with "Love Kills" is one of my favorite songs ever (which I myself covered). And yes, Alexis has a beautiful speaking voice, she could be a singer if she wanted.

My name is Chris and I love every reaction to every video y'all play because the best part is that you both have open minds and don't crap on something because it's not from your era or favorite genre. I especially like to see Alexis reacting to music I never thought she'd hear, like this song and Dokken and Warrant, and for that I think Burch is awesome cuz he knows his stuff and doesn't come across as a know-it-all, but rather a teacher of what the bands, songs and that era was all about. I've seen Slaughter 3 times. Back in 1990, I saw them open for KISS for the Hot in the Shade Tour. They were fantastic and made me a fan for life. This song really expresses the pain and longing you feel as a teenager in love. After seeing and loving Dream Warriors in the theater, I didn't have any desire to continue with the series. Mainly because Nancy wasn't going to return. I've only seen The Dream Master once, and watched it for the first time maybe 10 years ago. It actually wasn't bad for a fourth entry in the franchise.

Vinnie was a talented guitar player and songwriter but had a nasty ego. Gene Simmon and Paul Stanley butted heads with him before they let him go. Paul said in his book that Vinnie guitar solos were getting incredibly long at shows. he wrote that one time Vinnie threw a tantrum after his solo abruptly got cut short. Both Vinnie Vincent and Mark St. John had tragic outcomes after Kiss. btw. here is a fun fact. he co-written some songs for Kiss Revenge album and also wrote a song called Tears that was recorded by John Waite.
