True story: They had to go for a fadeout because the band wouldnt stop soloing. They are still in the same studio to this day playing that solo.
@jean-lucasymptotic5083
@jean-lucasymptotic5083 4 жыл бұрын
The real kicker is once the solo really starts going, a second guitarist comes in and plays slightly delayed off the lead guitar and tuned slightly different, which is what creates that unique sound of the rising solo - when in reality, it becomes a duet played like two solos. Then the bassist comes in, and adds their own "solo" to the duet and it becomes a stringed trio - and takes on the Mozart or Beethoven style of chamber music of three stringed instruments soloing in unison creating off shoot melodies that turn into harmonies and collapse back into themselves. And then the rhythm guitar enters the frey and BAM a quartet of soloists, a stringed quartet Two Violins (Lead guitars) a Viola (Rhythm Guitar) and a Chello (Bass). The structure of the "solo" is very classical; and so is the execution. It even moves through the eras of common practice music from Baroque (Bach) to Classical (Mozart) to Romantic (Beethoven). Overall it's a composition that, if played by a string quartet would pass as Mozart to the untrained ear.

There are a couple of other reactors to this song, who are black, and they were looking at the San Francisco concert, where the promoters put up a big Confederate flag backdrop behind the band. Not one of the reactors mentioned the flag, only focusing on the great music and the crowd. In the comment section, there were lots of comments about the flag, what it meant to each person. Many said it was a classic 1960 sign of rebelling against conformity, or that it meant Southern culture, not racism. And Neil Young apologized to the band for implying they were racist in his song "Southern Man," replied to in "Sweet Home Alabama." Lots of posters thanked the reactor a lot, saying that music is one of the best ways to unite people. I just found Sabaton, and they are doing that too, having people learn about different countries' histories and individual feats of bravery. If Covid hadn't come along, I would not have been homebound and bored, and getting onto KZbin. Music had drifted away from my life, but now it's back! Happy New Year to all of us!

It’s always been interesting to me that blues and country/southern rock are mirror images of one another. Both genres focus on great storytelling about love, and the struggles of blue collar working class Americans. It’s just sad that their fan bases are often at odds because there are way more similarities, both tend to be fairly conservative, and quite religious. It’s a powerful demographic that could wield serious power if they ever got together.

@@beastgalaxygaming9402 The band were all staying in a motel 350 miles away from home. It's highly unlikely that anyone of them would be off partying in a strange town by themselves. Ronnie ran that band like a tight ship and this was their first album. You can bet he got everyone to the studio ontime and in shape. Plus that solo was composed by Allen. It wasn't improvised. He always played it exactly the same way. In fact he double tracked it in the studio. If you listen close you can hear it.

My roommate is from Barbados and very dark skinned and when we first became friends he’d always say things like “skip those southern whiteboy songs”. Though Ill admit I always liked the island vibed music he was brought up on and played. It was an awesome feeling to hear him show the same interest when he heard me blasting this song cleaning my room. One More from the Road is a live album by Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, capturing three shows recorded in July 1976 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. Since 1974 Lynyrd Skynyrd had supported rock promoter Alex Cooley so that the theatre could be saved from demolition. The best shows 3 consecutive nights in ATL in 1976. I went all 3 nights. Best ever!!!

In the 70s I watched this band play at an expensive college--I had come from my college to see the band they were opening for--and the crowd was prepared to look down on this southern rock band, but they couldn't hold out for long against their obvious greatness! I was told later some thought my friend and I were groupies because we instantly thought this band was fantastic and were applauding when others weren't. By this song, the audience couldn't deny it! The headliners, The Stories, were a real letdown, even though they were talented, and before long the unknown, exciting opening act was famous!

Ronnie Van Zant actually wrote Freebird as a Tribute to Duane Allman. Most people associate the song with the plane crash that killed Ronnie, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines and others. Ronnie wrote the song before the plane crash obviously. The slide guitar parts are played by Gary Rossington and are a subtile tribute to Duane Allman and the Allman Brothers Band.

Sir, I have been listening to this song since the mid 1970's, it is one my all time favorite songs and I have analyzed and over-analyzed every note, beat, lick, riff, and line. In 40+ years of listening to this song, I have NEVER thought of it as a "break-up song". UNTIL NOW! I love your perspective on this classic song, and your interpretation is refreshing. To paraphrase a friend, music is THE universal language, and everyone brings to it their own perspectives and life experiences. Maybe, just maybe if we all talked more about music, and actually listened to each other, we might find out we have more in common as a society than we think. Music has it's roots in primitive humans and has evolved as we have, in a very diverse and sometimes unique way. I'm new to your channel, but am now a Subscriber. Thank you for reminding me that there are more ways to listen to something that I have heard nearly all my life.

Bruh I can’t even! When the solo hits and he grabs the tiger 😂😂 The joy shaq brings when he vibes to these rock songs, that I will always love myself, reminds me of the first time I heard these songs getting the same feel and energy! It’s just an amazing feeling to see others break free and love such things. Fly high free birds 🤘

@Eddie R Man, I appreciate that and meant every word. Some of the other channels have mostly drivel......with "I, Me" comments telling us how smart they are....or think they are! I spend a lot of time viewing comments on all types of music, The only ones I ever go back to and listen to over and over are Shaqs. I have my wife hooked on him, too. There are some good guys out there, but nothing like Shaq. He is full of surprises and he is REAL. Knocks himself out with his reactions.
