I'm from The South. South Florida, Pompano Beach, to be exact. My wife and I moved up to Saint Augustine in North Florida. We go to Jacksonville and Green Cove Springs where Lynyrd Skynyrd is from. It is surreal and awesome to see where they got their start. Great reaction, sir!🤟🤙

And this song in particular is really a tribute to their origins and influences. It's dripping in southern blues.

This song reminds me so much of the street musicians in New Orleans. So beautiful to me!

"The band's website says that the song is based on a composite of people who actually lived in the Van Zants' original neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida. Specifically, the country store "is based on Claude's Midway Grocery on the corner of Plymouth and Lakeshore [Blvd] in Jacksonville."

On your journey through the Skynyrd library do yourself a favor and check the names in the credits for the writer of the song. If any combination of the names VanZant, Collins or Rossington are part of the credits you'll be getting pure Skynyrd. They would on occasion play and record another writers music, but if it was theirs the lyrics will be about a life experience. You will find that the true Skynyrd songs have that special feel.

Ronnie had a way with words. Fun fact, he never wrote anything down, He said if it ain't worth remembering, it ain't worth doing.

He sure did say that, and he proved it to everyone.

The Outlaws are another great band from the same area of Florida, and they toured a lot of the same venues as Skynyrd did. Some good songs to check out are "Green Grass and High Tides", "There Goes Another Love Song", "Breaker Breaker", "Knoxville Girl", "Song for You", "Waterhole", "South Carolina", "Freeborn Man", "Prisoner", "Girl from Ohio", "Hurry Sundown", and their cover of "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky".

Sorry bruh, but I gotta correct you. The Outlaws formed in Tampa where I was born (1960) and raised.

We is our people. Color never entered the matter. I traveled up Shannon's mountain to hear my music. Wasn't my mom and dads.

They were in a plane crash. There is a movie out now on red box about the band. It's a good movie.
