@@Xfile1947 The producer recalled how, as the recording sessions progressed, the melodies became more melancholic; he noted that Madonna's stories made the songs "a lot more serious and intense", leading them into a "deeply personal territory".[4] Similarly, Shimkin said that "Bad Girl", along with fellow album track "In This Life", was a song that the singer had a "really deep personal attachment" to, but didn't notice this until the album was completed.[7][9] He added: "['Bad Girl' is] one of those songs, like 'Oh Father' or 'Papa Don't Preach', where she really calls on her own emotions and experiences. She's never afraid to expose herself emotionally."[9] Pettibone, however, said that he never thought of "Bad Girl" as autobiographical, but as a song people could relate to.[7]

In the 4:18 mark is the literal reason as to why some folks never give Madonna her well deserved flowers. The fact that some just don’t bother to experience her catalog because they just think: “I don’t know… this is Madonna” as if being Madonna won’t equate to amazing music. Madonna is such a unique artist in so many ways because even though she is one of the most successful solo artist of all-time, her infamy seems to alienate some. A shame really because they’re missing out on some of THE best POP music of all-time. 95% of which SHE writes, sings and produces.

Haven’t heard this one in so long! When she first started out, growing up in Brooklyn, I can’t exaggerate how huge she was; we all dressed like her, lived for her music. First hit was “Everybody”, before famous, she was a fixture in the NYC club Danceteria; she latched onto the DJ, Jellybean Benitez and launched from there), I was an Underground and Plaza Suite girl myself 😂. Have her first 7 or so Vinyls and CDs. My adult self is personally done with her; she has not grown old gracefully and her hypocrisy, “pussy hat” antics has completely turned me off. Youngest sister went to see her at the Garden last year and I declined; couldn’t see myself there, sadly. If you want to hear booming bass and hear her sex on the brain self, I recommend “Justify My Love”

From her Erotica album which has an early R&B influence. Madonna’s had like 40 top 10 singles - not surprised you know a bunch. She’s a great songwriter and creator of very infectious melodies. Even given the fact that she’s the most successfully selling female artist of all time, and generally respected in the industry, she’s underrated in modern public opinion. As others have mentioned, the video for this song is fantastic cinematic experience.

You can learn about how Madonna started and became MADONNA, by watching the documentary: Madonna and the breakfast club. No matter what anyone thinks of her today, if they watch that story they must give her props because that woman was one amazing, determined spirit, and she made herself. Now where I saw the divine timing in her story, was that just as she was really getting discovered, a little thing called MTV had also just come out, and she was perfect for the MTV camera/audience. Like her I'm from Michigan and I'm really just an ok fan. I sing the songs, but I won't pay for the concert ticket. But she definitely still has my respect for coming out of little ol Bay City, Michigan and making herself the icon she is.

This song was a grower for me, and what drove it into greatness was actually the extended version. There's an additional subtle layer of strings on that version of the track which just propelled it for me. Oh, and the music video is fantastic. Great storytelling, a must watch.

I'm probably in the minority here but I only thought this song was OK. This was also a first time listen of this song. I liked the beat but the lyrics were a little flat and I wasn't engaged in it, like some of her other songs. I'm not the biggest fan of Madonna but I do own her Greatest Hits CD (Immaculate Collection) and really like several of her songs. My favorites are Live to Tell, Like a Prayer, Into the Groove, Crazy for You and Like a Virgin. Also like Borderline, Vogue, Papa Don't Preach, Material Girl and La Isla Bonita.
