Majestica, Sabaton, a solo career with his own KZbin channel, Tommy seems to do it all, and do it all really, really well. During the Covid era when Floor Jansen started doing her music on her own KZbin channel it was Tommy that provided the musical instrumentation for Floor. Well, after all, Floor's husband, Hannes Van Dahl, is the Sabaton drummer and bandmate of Tommy's and so while Tommy did Floor's music, Hannes did her videography. Then Floor did the high, classical vocals for the ending credits for Sabaton's "Christmas Truce" video and recording. Tommy also did a musical advent calendar for the month of December 2022 with a new recording each day until Christmas on his KZbin channel going from quite normal (almost) to quite different. Whether we're talking about songwriting, singing, playing musical instruments, producing music, editing music or anything else, Tommy is a true Swedish treasure...a world treasure really. Great reaction as always young lady. You won't be disappointed to do more of Majestica, Sabaton or Tommy's solo work. Have a great day.

Tommy’s something else. Crazy vocal range and multi instrumenal and on top of that very good at arranging and produce music as well. I really hope you take a leap into this rabbit hole because there’s so many gems of music to be found. Not only fast paced powermetal but also other genres, but of course with a little touch of Tommys brilliance.

Nice reaction! I loved your analysis of "Above the Sky" and the reasons we all love reaction videos. In particular, I think there's something special about the camaraderie that comes with sharing something so exquisitely written and performed. Tommy Johansson is quite the extraordinary talent, and his bandmates are just as spectacular in their own rites. As for the meaning of the song, I've heard that it was written to describe the joy of being transported to a whole new world via power metal. From a spiritual sense, however, I can see perhaps a type of Christian imagery of the wonders and joys of heaven in the life to come. Just my own take on it. Thanks for such a lovely, detailed commentary!

Well, Majestica was not really founded in 2020. Just renamed. Tommy founded this band in 2002 when he was 14 under the name ReinXeed. The members changed throughout the years but it was always his band. He wanted a fresh start that's why he renamed it. On the bass is mad wizard bass player Chris David who is also bass player for the band Therion and lead singer and bass player for his own new band Wizdoom. So you have some crazy talented musicians in this band. The drummer and second guitarist changed since this video. But Joel Kolberg(drums) and Petter Hjerpe (guitar) are also fantastic. I hope you check out more of them. Look at their second album christmas Carol. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge. So fantastic. Absolutely worth checking out

Thanks for the great reaction. From way back hard rockers didnt have much cred in society. Many young guys in the 70s-80s (like me) took to it because it offered something to belong to. Its a very accepting community. If you like the music, youre in. Its as simple as that. Metal/hard rock lyrics are often about that feeling of belonging, or being part of something special, regardless of whats fashionable.

First step down the rabbit hole of Tommy :). Suggestion of route down this hole, You raise me up (one octave challenge) followed by Phantom of the opera (he do both voices of that one), then any of his Queen-covers. By then you will be hooked and addicted to Tommy. And as he releases a new cover every friday, you will never run out of Tommy :). No end to his talent, with few exceptions he plays all instruments on the songs released on his channel. And as you might find out in some of his vdeos he is very skilled when it comes to drawing as well.

I'm so glad to see this vid. It's too bad I didn't get the request sent in time for the holidays as Ghost of Christmas Past is an excellent song and everyone reacts to Above the Sky first. 😜 I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciated Tommy's talent. He is a very talented and very busy man -- in addition to Sabaton (his day job) and Majestica (the band he formed at 14 and rebranded 3 years ago), he posts weekly solo projects on youtube. I rather doubt he gets enough sleep. Sorry for not seeing this video until a couple days after it was posted. If it makes you feel any better, I still haven't watched Tommy's latest video which was posted a day before yours. My excuse is that his music usually wakes me up which is not what I want when I'm recovering from surgery. 😀

@RosalieReacts thank you so much. My recovery is going slower than I'd like, but I think I had unrealistic expectations going in as I am very much lining up with what my surgeon expected. I guess one heals more slowly in one's mid-thirties than one's late teens (when I had my previous abdominal surgery). My dad teased me that he wasn't happy to learn that his oldest child is old enough to be recovering more slowly. I wasn't very happy to realize that either. I do encourage you to check out Majestica's Christmas album at the end of this year as it really is quite lovely (it's basically a musical version of A Christmas Carol by Dickens), but I imagine you will be quite busy. For the record, you did pronounce my nickname correctly. It's a play on my middle name of Raymond which my father came up with when I was an infant (and which rhymed with baby since he likes making up songs). Apparently he and I spell it differently, but I'm going to say my version is correct because it's my name.

Rosalie! First time viewer, new subscriber! Fantastic video! Gotta tell you a funny story. When watching videos with talking I frequently will speed up the video to 1.5 to save time. I had watched several videos before seeing yours, so when you started talking, I thought, "did I already set this to 1.5?".....checked...nope! That's your normal speed for talking!! LOL!! Yeah, Tommy is great. His guitar work in Sabaton is stupendous, and at live concerts, Joakim the lead singer usually takes a beer break and has Tommy sing a cover of some wickedly high song, and the crowd goes crazy. As mentioned he also has his own channel where he does covers of all genres. Well worth checking out. Looking forward to more great videos on your channel! God bless!

This is probably the best reaction video I've ever seen. Probably the only one that actually has a point. You listened to something new, something that's not really your genre, but you immediately grasped and pointed out everything important about it: the individual musicians and their talent on their instruments, the incredibly hard work that goes into it, Tommy's insane vocals, the humour in the lyrics...etc My point is, this is educational, not just "look at me I'm making faces while listening to something you like". Thank you for that. Great content. Subscribed. BTW: this is power metal, which is known for lyrically dealing with a lot of fantasy themes. Fantasy as in Lord of the Rings for example. So there is often a hopeful, heroic message in the lyrics, or if it's a sad song, it's probably about sacrifice and loss associated with that. I believe this song is simply about making most of your time on this Earth. Stick together, be a good friend, a good husband, a good wife. Try to achieve as much as possible: fly as high as you can, perhaps even above the sky.

Tommy, aside from being singer/lead guitar in Majestica and lead guitar in Sabaton also has his own KZbin channel which you ought to check out. He's made a rendition of "You raise me up" - one octave higher and, iirc, you have Italian heritage, am I correct there? In that case you ought to check out his version of 883's "Una canzone d'amore" - it's intense.

Welcome to the European power metal (there's also a distinct US variant): super fast, super melodic, powerful (mostly) clean vocals, extensive use of keyboards, mythology/fantasy/history themes - altogether one of the most accessible metal sub-genres, very much the "fun metal". Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, early Nightwish are only some of its signature bands, Dragonforce might be the most definitive to most people today. Enjoy.

Another band that I really need to check out further. What a journey! This was not just : "bang bang bang"" metal. This one had melody. It had differnt moments... iit was a journey. About thinking....and here comes my german part: pls listen to Reinhard Mey: Überden Wolken". He had a lisense to fly. Describing, how he felt, when flying. Feeling free? Pls take a look at the lyrics. It's about looking at things from another perspectice. He was looking at things from above. I'm a biker, I look at things from just another side. (hah!) "Above the clouds" may be one thing. But then:: above the skies? Might that be, looking for another place, far beyond our atmosphere? Many options, I think. I don't know, if you recall Reinhard Mey from your childhood. Pls ask your parents. Especially his early work is well worth , listening to. My word!

I think there is another reason why people people watch reaction videos and that is discovery. Years ago I would go to my record store to discover new bands and sounds. The radio would play the songs that the record labels pushed. The record store knew and listened to all the music and past on feedback. There was always the Punk girl, the pop girl, the metalhead, the rock guy and the hip pop lover etc so the feedback was informed For me yes there is that validation when you hear a reactor that likes the same as you (and breaks it down), there is also that avenue of discovery the old record store provided and is now done veer the reactions subscribers and commenters. A lot of the music that we hear mainstream today is not me but throw a couple of reactors I have discovered new bands and a revitalisation in the sounds I loved and a few variants I would have just past by. Thank you.

Dear Rosalie! I really enjoyed this reactsvideo. I understand if power metal is not your favorite. You said in this video that you don't know Tommy Johansson. Please allow me to write some information about it. This might help you get to know him better... Tommy (he is the lead singer in this video) doesn't just play metal music. On Tommy's personal KZbin channel, you can hear songs of all kinds. Among others, "Who wants live forever" (Queen cover), or the "Phantom of the opera". Not to mention his many Christmas cover songs. Tommy was first a "one-man musician" who can sing, play guitar, piano, drums, bass and even the flute. On his debut album "The Light" that was released in 2008, he played on all instruments. He is multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer. In 2016, Tommy joined Sabaton, where he has been playing lead guitar and singing backing vocals ever since. (There was a Sabaton live concert, where he also substituted the lead singer due to voice illness.) In 2017 Tommy joined a UK symphonic power metal band Memories of Old where he's the band's vocalist. And Tommy is also a member of a Christian power metal band Golden Resurrection since 2008. He plays here too guitar, keyboards and sings backing vocals. I apologize for writing too long. Thanks for reading it. 🙂 Thank you for your work, the your reactions are very remarkable.

And THIS, my Lady is WHY we Metalheads love the genre. I think you learned earlier on that Metal has its Roots in Classical Music, and this is a prime example of that. If more people were aware of this relationship between the two genres that are separated by several hundred years, the genre would be the most popular in the world. Without a doubt. Because not only do they use influences from European Classical Music, but also music from the Middle East and even the Orient. The German power metal band, BrainStorm did a couple of songs earlier in their career from 2000 and 2003 respectively that used traditional music queues from India. From their 2000 album "Abiguity" a track called "Maharaja Palace" which was one of my favorite songs on the album. And then on their 2003 album "Soul Temptation" they had a track called "Shiva's Tears" and it too was a favorite of mine. Don't know what it is about us Metalheads, but I think possibly because we listen to and focus on the actual music rather than how pop music fans focus more on the vocals, lyrics, and stage theatrics of the performer, we can pick up a lot more of what's actually in these songs over just a pretty face that's meant to elicit a swooning effect over their fans. Were Elvis fans really that into his music or were they more into him? Same thing with Michael Jackson. And now with Taylor Swift or Beyonce. Get me?

If you can find the time, you should listen to the Finnish band Poets of the Fall and their songs Sleep and Carnival of rust (Official video or Live).

I believe you are not completely into statistics anymore 😁- the Metal community got into you instead 😉 and that's because you are open minded - and letting the music do it what it is best at - bringing people together. Excellent music has no specific categories - it is about the people who creates it, their thoughts with it, and their ability to deliver the message so it can be individually interpreted widely and wisely. Just my old fashioned opinion (I am 64 years stupid) - and I can't stand rap music and whiny pop but have to admit that there are gems among them as well. 🤣 I love being old, conservative and stubborn - and learning something new 🙄. Music can be a phenomenal experience, no matter what genre it's from. Greetings from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 💪 🤘 🤘 🤘

Please, check out " nu grönskar det' by Tommy Johansson. He is so good but does not take himself, or the gengre, too seriosly. The song is about enjoying the spring. Been sung by all kids at the ending of the spring term for 100 years here. Written by the great Johan Sebastian Bach. Bet he didnt now metal, back in the 17-hundreds. Please, keep on reacting just the way you do, and hugs and a big shoutout from Gothenburg, the frontside of Sweden.

FYI, this sub-genre is classified as Power Metal). Tommy Johansson, along with his incredible range, plays guitar, bass, and keyboards (plus writing, directing, and producing his own stuff). Along with being lead guitar for Sabaton, lead guitar and vocals for his band Majestica (previously called Reinxeed), he has his own channel (with over 100K subscribers) where he covers rock songs across all genres, one per week (released every Friday). If you want to compare his talent to classic rock songs, watch and listen to his version of Skid Row's "Eighteen and Life" and compare it to Sebastian Bach's vocals: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5vZgJ6ldraksK8 Next, try out Gary Moore's "Empty Rooms" to see his bass and key prowess, with an incredible outro guitar solo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6LOgqqkf8maptE Then, just for kicks (and FUN), watch what he does with Elton John's "I'm Still Standing": kzbin.info/www/bejne/naG7m2ucg6ulbq8

You really need to react to the in-studio play through of "Awakening" by Unleash the Archersl another voice that will amaze you. You'll also want to watch "Neverending" by Frozen Crown; you'll find the vocal melodies interesting.
