This was my first time watching this video. Heartbreaking. I was abused and neglected as a child by my mother. You did the right thing for your friend. My sister and I wished someone would help us, but no one ever did. Just by the grace of God, we survived my mother's rage. Anytime anyone sees or suspects abuse they must do whatever they can to stop it. Because what you see on the surface is 10 times worse behind closed doors.

I know the hell you went through. Me and my two siblings were also victims of child neglect. We were taken away by the foster care services of my home state and put into foster care. It was a hard childhood for the three of us, but it was better than staying with our biological parents.

You should try reaching out further....give the details to some group who finds people for friends and families. I am sure no matter the outcome he probably will be thankful for you helping him escape that situation...either way you were a child and knew it was not acceptable what you were seeing and you cared. You have a good soul. Sadly this happens daily here in the USA. I live in a town of 14,000 and in the last 15 years I know 3 children and maybe a 4th (never heard if it was an accident or abuse), they claimed the infant was dropped and I just not buying. I was abused as a child and I believe it makes or souls more empathetic to others and why we feel their pain, I remember wishing I was never born. People are sick hurting children.

My heart hurts for you & your friend & I pray that he is free from his evil parents & grew up in a home like mine. My parents were foster parents to at least a dozen different kids over the years & some of them came to us just exactly like your friend. Cigarette burns & bruises galore. We tried to make them feel loved & safe & helped them find happier permanent homes. You 100% did the right thing. The little girl in the video is gone because people ignored it. See something. Say something. Kids AND adults. Hope that teacher sleeps well, now.

My dad beat us... and mom... people knew. No one helped The line "i wished i wasn't born" hours hard because i thought the exact same thing. My daughter even gets hurt and i see a little blood and i panic. I can't handle seeing her hurt. I literally cry even she gets hurt

You're a hero for speaking up like you did, even though i can't imagine how hard it is not knowing. If this helps in some way- I wish someone would have spoken up for me. I was 8 years old when this video came out and I was going through this with my single mom. I remember being so scared to even get off the school bus everyday, I worried this was what would happen to me. I never told anyone though, I always protected her. Even now, I'm only comfortable saying this because I don't use my name here. Every kid deserves a friend like you, and i cant speak for him- just as another kid who went through it, but thank you. 💖

My cousin was beaten regularly by his father. He would look at his teachers with pleading black eyes and bruises and they did nothing. This was in the 1970s. I sure hope teachers intervene nowadays.

This is a very real reaction, about a very real reality, for very real children. Some of whom do not get to grow up to be adults. Others who grow up to carry the scars and secrets and traumas into adulthood. It makes sense that it will be a difficult song to listen to. I'd worry about anyone who is not moved by it. For the pain is real. And the realities of abuse and secrecy and helplessness and risk are real, too. On a practical note: if you are an adult who suspects a child is being maltreated. Speak up. Make a call. Be a voice. Teach children that they should not keep these kinds of secrets. About themselves. About others. Be a safe person to tell to. You may save a life. More than one.

I was taken out of school and put in foster care in 10th grade. I had no time to say goodbye to my friends. Years later, I found one person from my class on Facebook, and from that, I was able to connect with my other friends, too. Keep looking....you may still be able to find him!

This actually happened to Martina's niece, Martina beat her little girl to death, the headstone that's shown is the actual headstone of the little girl. I was born in 1958, grew up in the 60's and 70's, back then it was almost normal to see bruises on kids, the only time CPS actually stepped in was if you were beaten so badly you ended up in either the hospital or morgue. It was considered a family situation. The little boy was an angel guiding her to heaven with other children that had died from child abuse. This was a hard one to watch, I've seen other reactions to it, and they were all pretty much reacting like you did.

Your friend Anthony .. if you recall his last name .. names of any siblings he may have had .. the parents first name .. childhood street address .. You can look his name up online by typing it in the URL. Then search through any results that are familiar to you pertaining to his with family history up to present day. You should be able to find out current address, phone number etc if he is still living today.

I know I'm not God, because it's not my place to judge & punish the evils of humanity, since that's only His job anyway. Yet, I often wonder if the only way for these vicious acts of cruelty to completely stop it from constantly occurring over & over again, is that evil people who act beyond selfish enough to commit such violence towards the defenseless & voiceless, should be sorely visited by divine intervention itself, like they should be.
