Metallica did two sets of "S&M" concerts. The original set was back in 1999, and then S&M2 was in 2019. No Leaf Clover was one of two songs written specifically for the first S&M concerts, and they brought it back for S&M2. They've also played it occasionally out on tour when it's just the band, but it's definitely best with the symphony. If you ever get a chance to watch the full S&M concert videos, they're incredible.

Mongolians drink German beer from their German-made breweries in Ulaanbaatar :); Metallica is a legend. 40 years of music. 40 years of being capable to adapt and write interestingly enough so they can get a 40 years celebration concert; even having a profane hatchling such as Rosalie (chosen this appellative based on her claims of only knowing a few of Metallica's works) commenting about the still wet ink on their birth certificate with such passion ... speaks volume.

I love when he sings “then it 🎈COMES 🎈to be.” I think it’s genius how James goes really high on the word “comes.” It sounds off key on that word, which makes it sound so cool. Reminds me when Peter Brady on the Brady Bunch is singing with his brothers and sisters, but his voice cracks, because his voice is changing with his age. “Then it ⬆️comes⬆️ to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel.”
@MKDumas1981 Жыл бұрын
It's in key. It's a Bb, the same note when Layne Staley sings "Feeeeeeeeeeeeed..." in the chorus of "Man in the Box". Originally, he jumped into falsetto for it, but with his new-and-improved post-Coof voice, he can stay in chest voice for it.

After their first S&M Concert in 1999, Metallica said this was some of the most difficult things they have tried. Because usual they can improvise a bit during the Concert but when you have an Orchestra with you, that suddenly becomes a lot more difficult and you need to be more diciplined than you would normally be at a Concert.

Hi there Rosalie... You caught the cat by his tail... the first release of this track was on the turn of the millenium... you should check that version (not react, but just check it, the sound is so much better and we all can apreciate a younger James pouring his heart out) At that time the band as we knew it was falling apart... fans didn't like the way the band was going (personnaly, I love what they've done, because they went out of the box on what a metal band should sound like and, as always kept an outstanding lyric content to their sound) and James was dealling with personnal issues... So... he felt like he found that "no leaf clover" and we all felt it... P.S: Mickael Kamer, the Maestro of the original S&M concert, that composed with Metallica this piece and the other orinal composition made for this particular gig( minus Human) , unfortunatly is no longer with us, said that he proposed this collaboration because metallica's sound stripped of the eletrical aparatus was pure symphony... Take care... stay safe...

It's been well addressed in some of the comments, but it can't be overstated... Metallica is THE PROTOTYPICAL METAL BAND. PERIOD. It's in the name. (Actually wrote this comment before you started your epilogue) Metal was 'hard rock' until Metallica gave it a formal name. There were others before that were heavy, Sabbath and Zeppelin, but this band perfected the sound and swagger that is the DNA of metal. It's not your fault for not knowing who Metallica is. I blame your parents😳 😂 NO LEAF CLOVER is written for this performance and it STILL hits on all cylinders after 40 years. To better capture the evolution of the band you MUST listen, and if you need to react, to their early releases with their bassist Cliff Burton. A young MASTER of theory and composition that literally launched this band into the highest echelons of the Rock Gods.
