Rob Hirst, the band's drummer and one of its writers, said that he always thought that if you could make music that had a message or something to say, while also making it sound good, that made a really good song, and Midnight Oil would strive to do that with almost every song they made. I highly recommend the songs Dreamworld, Forgotten Years, Blue Sky Mine, Truganini (the Australian film clip version), My Country, and Put Down That Weapon. There are so many good songs by them, even beyond this, but you'll always get something interesting with them for sure!
