Excellent choice Biz,abd great commentary. Try Don't Let it Bring You Down and After The Gold Rush from the After The Gold Rush album. Stick with Neil, you will be shocked at what a rocker he can be!

A top track from Neil's most commercially successful album. The albums that most hardcore fans and critics consider as his best are "Tonight's the Night," "On the Beach," "After the Goldrush," and "Rust Never Sleeps." Not forgetting "Live Rust."

It’s my favorite Neil Young album for sure. This is the first song on it. Other great songs from Harvest are the title track ( Harvest ), Alabama, Words ( between the lines of age ), There’s A World and the Needle and the Damage Done 🔥

Neil has a vast, prolific catalogue, spanning multiple genres. Something for everybody. Harvest is his folky best. An underrated gem, and a complete change of pace, is his 1983 rockabilly effort, ‘Everybody’s Rockin’. Try tracks “Cry Cry Cry’” or “Wonderin’”

Harvest is his best album followed by After the Goldrush, then Rust Never Sleeps, Everybody Knows this is Nowhere, and his first album self titled

Harvest is a great album, but right there with it are After the Gold Rust and Live Rust. Not a bad song on any of these three albums. Of course that is true on many Neil Young albums.
@lathedauphinot68204 ай бұрын
This is a beautiful album. Neil Young records all the time with different people, usually keeps the first or second take, and then pretty much forgets about it. He goes through the tapes occasionally and decides to release something, sometimes something recent, sometimes something old. He has many albums worth of music that has never been released. The song I’d like to hear is “Love To Burn” from ’Ragged Glory’. Thanks.

I love this song, and enjoy playing my A harmonica along with it. Check out these great NY tunes: "Like A Hurricane" from Live Rust "Country Home" from Ragged Glory "I'm The Ocean" from Mirror Ball All showing Young at his best. In fact, you should check out every song on Ragged Glory; every track is a winner!
@bobschenkel79216 ай бұрын
Neil Young and Bob Dylan, the two best users of Harmonica in conjunction with almost anything they choose to put out. When you hear it you know it is Neil, or Bob, and you can tell the difference, easily. Harvest is ONE of Neil's best albums, but over 50+ years it's hard to pick just one.

Although I remember hearing "Heart of Gold" on the radio when I was five, I didn't listen to the entire Harvest album until I was eighteen. It might seem strange today that somebody could write a song about leaving the big city to get away to the country in Los Angeles, but Los Angeles county was once the leading agricultural county in California and urban sprawl had not yet turned all the farmland into housing when the song was new. Harvest is Neil Young's fourth album released in 1972. Harvest Moon is his 21st album released in 1992. Twenty years apart. For something live from him, check out "Rockin' in the Free World" and "Like a Hurricane" from his 1991 live album Weld. Fire!

I don't think he went to the 'country' in LA -- seems like he went to the city to try to forget his country girl . . . .

This is a fantastic song by NY. This album is so good this might be the 3rd or 4th best song on the album

Harvest is a great album for sure. It's early in his solo career and is 'folkish'. Is it his best? Depends on what you like most. The Rust Never Sleeps album came a few years later. I love it too but it's very different, more rock sounds. You may have done a song or two from the album.

Two all time great albums in a row, Harvest and After the Gold Rush. I think the later album is the best. I don't think you've done any Townes van Zant, Big Country Blues is a masterpiece. Similar Country Folk Rock.

I may have asked you this before. If so, I know you will forgive me cuz I'm old😊. You should treat yourself to the movie DEADMAN starring Johnny Depp with an awesome Neil Young soundtrack. It's a killler movie by Jim Jarmusch in Black and White with a great, quirky cast of characters. There's DEADMAN clips and trailers here on KZbin.
