Now that was excellent. I just listened to your cover of Dimash's "Endless Dimensions". Dimash's music transcends genres! On a separate subject if you haven't heard Eva Cassidy you won't regret listening based on her angelic voice, she delivers live and she's even a good guitar player. "Over the Rainbow" is a good place to start. She was from my area of Washington DC. Blessings, JK

Hello Caleb Coles [Music] ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2005 in the"End Of An Era" concert, in Helsinky, Finland, then with Tarja Turunen, the first female singer of the band, together with the bass player, Marco Hietala. This was also Tarja's last concert with the band, she was fired immediately after the show, with an open letter. Bitter-sweet memories.. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. As I saw you enjoyed this powerful performance of both Tarja and Marco, and I'm sure you noticed all the changes in the musical arrangement. The "responsible" is Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard guy. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals) - you just heard her. She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile). There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013 (epic score) kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIrNep9-jKd0jNE "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfOiqqFf7-ChLc "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeydWmumsijnpY "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun" live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooXZipmClpmKos0 "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqbaimSaYrB8qdU Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..) You can also react to Floor Jansen "tapping" other musical genres in Beste Zangers 2019 (TV show from Netherlands) here is a playlist made by Floor herself (start listen it in reverse order..): kzbin.info/aero/PL8iSYWeQhlimgUnWw1FDdiJN0msPzqpLo To understand better the context of this show you should visit also Jenniezelf's YT channel (En subtitled materials): kzbin.info For entire episodes of the show with En translation, you should check Denise Hofs's DM channel: www.dailymotion.com/xpinkeu/videos In these pandemic times, Floor Jansen has decided to make covers for us, which you can find on her YT channel kzbin.info/door/xy4Ijz2QKXXJaREs-isxwA - there are already 4 covers there, the first is "Let It Go" from "Frozen" (7 weeks ago, already over 1.888M views), the second - "Alone" from "Heart" (released 5 weeks ago) - 736K and counting. Then 3 weeks ago she dropped the third cover, in Dutch: "Is Dit Nou Later" from Stef Bos - already 216K views in 3 weeks. Just before Christmas she made a powerful cover of "Ave Maria" - already 181K views in just several days.. Thank you! Waiting for more Nightwish reactions. All the best from RO. Stay safe.

Thank you, and also that is so great to do that in memory to her. I really do appreciate all that info! It looks like perhaps next I'll have to react to Ghost Love Score at Wacken, which is Floor Jansen, correct? I Really do love this arrangement, I didn't know what genre they were but Symphonic Metal is a cool title. I only ever got into some Progressive Metal and Power Metal back in the day, this seem similar but not sure what to expect from upcoming songs. Thanks for watching the reaction and look forward to more in the future.

Since you are a singer/songwriter yourself I'm sure you would love Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" Wacken 2013. Composition by the band founder/leader Tuomas Holopainen, and vocals by Floor Jansen, the 3rd and current Nightwish female vocalist. The one you just heard is Tarja Turunen, the original female lead vocalist of Nightwish. The role of the Pahantom was sung by Maorko Hietala, the bassist/vocalist. I like the way you go back to check some points of interest, some high notes in this case, after you have finished watching the video/performance. Greetings From Helsinki Finland!

Great reaction Caleb Coles! Thank you very much! Tarja Turunen was the original Nightwish vocalist for almost a decade, defining a big part of their sound with her classically infused vocal techniques which combined perfectly with Nightwish's inicial power metal and later symphonic metal sound, and also with Marco's vocals, as you noticed it was a perfect match in every way! The great thing is that Tarja has been having an amazing solo career in the last 15 years... Her voice is high (her last note on this one is an Eb6), but also a full and really powerfull suported sound (and throughout her career she keeps on experimenting new things with her vocals, including a haunting dark and lower register she can belt out), plus having this theatrical presence on stage... I'm really glad you liked it! As a sugestion, I'll leave you 3 links for some essential Live performances by Tarja Turunen solo in recent years: 1st - A very energetic Live version of "Victim of Ritual" (song composed by Tarja)... the crowd really goes wild at this one - from Woodstock festival: kzbin.info/www/bejne/famnn5uYfLl9idU 2nd - An unbeliavable version of "Supremacy" (a Muse cover) Live at Hellfest festival - Very powerfull high notes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ6wc3yVZb1mpac 3rd - As an amazing follow up to the Nightwish video you just watched, here it is "Stargazers" in a Live performance in which Tarja surpassed even hersef in the studio version from Nightwish's legendary "Oceanborn" album... its simply a Perfect and unmatched rendition: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHnPY5yYlrqpmbM (starting at 40.56min) I hope you enjoy these ones as much as I do! Thank you for reacting to Nightwish. The Nighwish Army will soon invade your commentary field with more recommendations as well as some of the history of the band. Anyway, here are some newer Nightwish songs for you react to: Some of my suggestions are a bit unusual, but can give you a deeper understanding of the quality and depth of Nightwish in general and Tuomas' songwriting in particular. Here they are: Dark Chest of Wonders from Wacken 2013 (how to open a show) kzbin.info/www/bejne/haeydWmumsijnpY Yours is an empty hope from Wembley 2015 (yes, that's Floor growling!!!!): kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKqvpIhthphmac0 Stargazers from Tampere 2015 (here you can hear Floor's more operatic register in this fast-paced guitarheavy song): kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "High Hopes" from Hartwall Arena 2005. (Nightwish makes a Pink Floyd cover, WHAT!!! Marco singing.) kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqCodaGMmr6Mr68 The Islander from Tampere 2015 (Marco singing): kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU Sahara. (Nightwish in Tampa 2016. It's a bit different but crazy good and not that common. Also, Tuomas said he loves small gigs, where he "can smell the sweat and the beer"...) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooXZipmClpmKos0 How's the Heart (slow and beautiful anthem of human empathy, pure awesomeness) from the Planet Rock acoustic session 2020: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4rXnIOme76thdE Shudder before the Beautiful, live from Wembley. (Here you can feel the power of Nightwish live, also a great battle between Tuomas and Emppu): kzbin.info/www/bejne/baC0aaaEiL6Lo7M Dead Boy's Poem from Buenos Aires 2018. (A bit different, slowpaced, but still epic): kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 Sleeping Sun from Tampere 2015 (slow ballad by Floor, so amazingly good) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk Devil and The Deep Dark Ocean. (A fast-paced duet with Floor and Marco, originally released in 1998 on their second album, here in full awesomeness from Buenos Aires 2018): kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM Some instrumental folk-metal ??? No Floor (she's changing from leather pants to leather skirt...), just the guys, a nice battle between Emppu on guitar and Troy on the Uillean Pipes (!?!) "Last of the Wild": kzbin.info/www/bejne/d16nm6tsnr9qZsk A slow lovesong with Marco in the lead vocals from Wembley 2015: "Kiss while your lips are still red": kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4eagX6saZ5mf8U A "feel-good song" from Wembley 2015: "Alpenglow": kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKOtp36Qg6qbbck Another lovesong, a bit more fast-paced, but still melodic, from Wacken 2013: "Everdream": kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo (Or, if you want the more mellow version from Vancouver 2015: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2mylpabn8mlh9k ) More folk-metal in the form of a very weird instrumental jig, "Elvenjig", followed by the amazing "Elvenpath" (Buenos Aires 2018): kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJXGXoCmbtOeqck Some classical music perhaps? "All the Works of Nature Which Adorn the World - The Blue" from 2020 (no video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZbTlmeHa8lreck (Fan-made video to the entire 2nd CD is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ-ylYRrjLONgM0) Fantasmic, from back in 2000. Very good recommendations, I have nothing really to add at the moment. Maybe Ghost Love Score from Wacken as the most "traditional" Nightwish introduction, but our friend here seems to like the faster paced / heavier stuff, so "Romanticide" and "Song of Myself" would be other "classics" to react to, but I appreciate your effort to leave the trodden reactors path with some titles heard not so often

@@CalebColesMusic That performance ought to be from Helsinki, the last concert with Tarja Turunen (1996-2005). Eventually things became unbearable, after Tarja came up with a businessman as her fiance, who didn't share the same passion for music, others than how to make the most money with her. There might also be some kind of an unspoken, unrequited love issue involved, between the band leader and Tarja, which didn't help to settle the controversies at all. Rumors said that they already dreamed of having Dutch singer Floor Jansen from their former support band "After Forever" as a replacement, yet "AF" did not disband until 2009. So Nightwish needed to restart with the Swedish singer Anette Olzon (2007-2012) in the meanwhile until Floor Jansen (2012- today) took over. Quite a few songs are suitable for double reactions, as there are different versions from the singers. Both Tarja and Floor had extraordinary appearances live on stage. Also there are great stripped down accoustic live versions from Floor, like "How's the Heart" or "Nemo" from the above list which can be compared with the full band versions. 2nd singer Anette was great for recordings in studio, yet there are not many good live appearances with her on YT. If you will ever will react to "Yours is an Empty Hope", I suggest the version live from Mexico City, because contrary to the Wembley version, Floor's growling is mixed even-handedly with the clear-singing of the bassist's Marco male voice. I'm glad that I learned about Nightwish not before 2013 when they had a benchmark concert with Floor Jansen at Wacken Open Air. So the current lineup is by far my favorite one ;-) though I miss the original drummer Jukka who needed to resign in 2015 due to health issues and was bringing in his friend Kai as an alternate. Nightwish' latest expansion and 6th band member Troy (UK) was officially joining the band alongside with Floor Jansen in 2012. Before that he already acted as a temporary guest musician since 2006. Besides of being the band's third voice, he's playing multiple wind and string instruments on stage.

@@MacZussie quote"There might also be some kind of an unspoken, unrequited love involved, between the band leader and Tarja, " enquote Yes, That has always been part of my private working theory, that Tuomas had a deep private crush on his childhood friend. Yet Tuomas seems to be the classic introvert so will both feel the pain deeper, but also need to express it with minimal damage to others. I doubt if he will every confirm the full depth of loss in words. But in music - Poet and the Pendulum takes on so much more depth when you understand this emotion has now had 15 years to attempt to heal and/or resolve. I hear that Floor and Tarja are good friends and that might be some of the bridge for healing and restoration of relationship that Nightwish and Tarja could use.

Hello! nightwish was born in 1996 with Tarja Turunen (who sings here). initially Toumas (keyboardist) wanted to form an acoustic band until he heard Tarja's voice and was so surprised that he decided to do this fusion that we know as symphonic metal. they made 5 records. songs like ghost love score, sleeping sun, slaying the dreamer, planet hell, nemo, etc etc were sung by Tarja many years ago. Now Floor sings them, that is why you will see many repeated songs sung by these two singers, they are different versions. Tarja has an academic training in opera since very young, so she has a lot of technique and vocal range. If you compare ghost love score you will see the difference that I speak of. I like the old versions better. all they recommend after 2005 is without Tarja. She stayed until that year and then formed her solo career with a lot more variety in her voice. you will find many fans of Floor recommending her songs in Tarja's videos and insisting tirelessly without commenting on anything good. I recommend the old nightwish: ghost love score, wishmaster, slaying the dreamer, sleeping sun, ever dream, nemo, planet hell, the beauty of the beast etc. and after his solo career: supremacy (I think it reaches a higher note), walk alone, anteroom of death, serene, victim of ritual etc. I really liked your analysis, Tarja and Marco made a great pair !! sorry for my English. greetings from Argentina!

Hey Caleb, since I've been a long-time subscriber, it's cool to see you finally react to Nightwish. They are a phenomenal band with tremendous talent, as well as a huge diversity in their music, from sounding like Metallica to sounding like a celtic folk band. Since Gabriel gave you the rundown, I'll just add something that you may not hear from the hardcore fans that particularly pertains to you and I as Christians. Just know going in that several band members, including the primary composer Tuomas (keyboardist), are outspoken atheists, and even have a few songs that are direct attacks on Christianity and/or God ("Yours is an empty hope," and "Greatest show on earth" are 2 examples). Does this take away from their tremendous musical abilities? Not at all. Do all their songs have such themes? Not at all. I really enjoy many of their songs. But, knowing that you're a Christian, I thought it appropriate to let you know those things up front, as you begin diving into this band. Take care brother. Happy New Year to you and your family!

I appreciate your open candor, particularly since it was very tactful. (Rare thing in today’s world of internet anonymity). But I’d like to (respectfully) disagree on a couple points. Yes the band members are openly secular/non-theistic. Meaning their outlook is centered around the foundation of separation from religious belief. This outlook puts value on what they know, particularly science, not faith in belief. The “science based outlook” is also very aware of not completely disregarding something until it’s proven; as such they don’t deny the possibility of a higher power. But neither will they belief it until they can be given enough proof. They may have a couple songs that address their issue with a person being ostracized for questioning institutionalized religion; and are open to criticizing the man-made structure of religion. BUT that is far from being an attack on religion in it’s pure essence (let alone Christianity specifically). The songs I’m referring to are Weak Fantasy (previous album) and Tribal (newest album). In regard to the two songs you mentioned (both from the previous album): Yours Is An Empty Hope is not an attack on Christianity, religion, or even belief system(s). It’s a response to people hiding behind anonymity while creating narcissistic illusions of vanity, particularly on the internet. When asked, Tuomas has explicitly stated that the song isn’t about the other theme found in The Greatest Show on Earth. TGSOE is 100% a celebration of life on Earth through the process of evolution. Yes it has spoken word narrative provided by Richard Dawkins, but no where in the lyrics or narration is there an attack on religion, let alone Christianity. Sure, it directly contradicts religious beliefs found in the most religions; including, but not limited to, the 3 Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). But to call that an attack is a bit misleading. I will admit that Dawkins can be a bit abrasive with his own published rhetoric, but that abrasiveness is not found in TGSOE (nor is the Darwin quote). I can whole heartedly understand how someone with a faith-based belief system may feel like their religion is being attacked via the celebration of evolution, but context matters. Ultimately it’s a celebration of life on earth; which is shared amongst many religions as well. The one thing we need in this modern world is civility and communication. This reply was my respectful attempt to keep that channel open amongst all of us who share the love for their music, because that’s what it is in the end: amazing music in terms of structure, composition, and vocal/instrumental performances. For anyone interested I cannot recommend this react/analyze series enough: Guylian Prince, a French-Canadian Franciscan Friar for the past 25 years who specializes in analysis of texts, particularly holy scripture. He also has a deep appreciation for metal and rock music, supported by musical training. He does a deep dive analysis into many of NW’s songs, including the newest album in it’s entirety (even the track Tribal). Please show this guy some support, one of the truest lovers of music I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch. kzbin.info

It’s great to see an open and respectful discussion about this kind of topic. I’d like to add that science and religion aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive - even more true of science and spirituality. To me, Tuomas has a reverence for the universe and nature that is spiritual -and that’s why some of his music (esp Human Nature) give me both chills and tears. (The website Nick suggests is great - am in the process of listening to a very in-depth analysis of Human Nature lyrics.).

Oh Caleb, this breaks my heart. I was there in the End of Era, this is my home genre, my home land, my favorite band all time. Been in so many concerts. What happened after End of Era truly was devastating, Tarjas follower as a solist Anette was such a disappointed, she was not bed, but not right for tye genre and now Floor is doing a great job again. As the End of Era goes the crown jewel is Ghost Love Score, it is wonderfully done also by Floor in Wacken version, the current official live version. Ghost Love Score is by far greatest masterpiece in the symphony metal. I have been waiting some reactor to be ballsy enough to do a comparison between the two, to point out awesomeness of both, not finding which is better as there js no such thing. Loved following your face as it feels I am seeing the song again for the first time or screaming in the audience. As the other great songs, fabulous songs, worth looking at in this concert is Siren, Slaying the Dreamer, Wishmaster and Wish I Had an Angel, Welcome to world of Mozarts of today, they live here, in this genre and in this band.

Floor Jensen among my top 7 female vocalists. One is Lara Fabian but my numero 2 I don’t believe you reacted to. Her name : Diana Ankudinova. Her Performance Of “ Rechenka” at age 14. Is is considered EPIC!!! Diana has the most recognizable unique mesmerizing dramatic contralto voice in the world. There was a survey conducted by a ranking company ( I believe rank.com ) that ranked the best female pop singers of 2020 and Diana ( who is 17 now) was ranked Number 1. Even ahead of Demi Lovato!!! As mentioned , Diana Ankudinova . who many coaches, professional vocalists, and Reactors around the globe consider in possession of the most unique mesmerizing memorable amazing atavistic tribunal primordial shaman goddess voice in the world -any age. At age 14 her incredible and legendary performance of an old ritual wedding folk song titled “ rechenka” ( River in English) Is -to this day-considered by many professional vocalists and coaches around the world as the most unique and mesmerizing live performance by a vocalist -any age , in the history of Russian talent shows. And along with “ Human” ( lowest possible female notes she’s a rare dramatic contralto ) and “ Wicked Game” contributed to her winning not only the kids “ you are super” contest for orphans and adopted children 2 consecutive years but catapulted her to international fame with millions of avid followers worldwide. And Famous composer Igor has accompanied her on the piano on “ Tomorrow Is A Lie” ( 4:26 .. posted by HTB amazing performance) And you might want to read a little about her tragic younger years abused and beaten by her birth mother and put up for adoption at age 3. You may want to continue your Ankudinova journey by reacting the year prior to “ rechenka” when she was 13! She entered her first kids contest in Russia where she sang a song that required masterful yodeling. It was a masterpiece, a tour de force, some say one of the best yodeling performances on any talent show but in this performance it was the controversial aftermath that prompted the audience to give her a 5 minute Standing Ovation. And at 13 her rendition of “ Me Voy” in Spanish was emotionally impactful and when I suggested that my Spanish language friends watch they were shocked and couldn’t believe the perfect pronunciation and emotional feelings she conveyed. And the following year and year thereafter she won the 2 “ you are super” Russian contests. After reacting to Rechenka and Wicked Game and Human Please react to “ yodel time” And you’ll witness a yodeling masterpiece. Some recent songs ( she’s 17) worth reacting to are : from her channel. Please subscribe. A beyond amazing rendition of “ by your voice” showcased on her channel a couple weeks ago Only a handful in the audience but if there were 50,000 in USA they would have screamed, yelled, applauded during and after. And her recently released MV that is breathtaking with nature imagery that enhances the emotional impact. And later on somewhere down the road you must react to her cover of the classic Beatles song “ Oh Darling” when she was 10 years old!!! And she was live on a radio show and did the song in one take!!!!!!!! Which to this day remains my favorite cover of this Beatles classic. If you continue to react to Diana your subscriber base will go thru the roof! All love in isolation from Miami Beach, Florida, All

Very interesting commentary. Floor Jansen is the current front-woman of Nightwish and perhaps you would like to hear her version of Phantom of the Opera live in a small setting with Henk Poorte. Henk is the Dutch Phantom who has performed the musical many times. Floor has one of the most versatile voices on the planet. Metal, pop, rock, opera and even an occasional growl. Nightwish has a huge fan base for good reason. Try the Wacken 2013 concert for Ghost Love Score or for more heaviness go with Storytime. Here’s Phantom: m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp2mhJagq6mCgK8

@@carolbell2336 So nice of you to translate your thoughts, TY! Just a fair warning: Nightwish had two line-up changes for their lead singer and Tarja Turunen is no more with the band since 2005. The current singer is Floor Jansen, a real powerhouse, classically trained but with a more metal background (even if she BEAUTIFULLY can go full operatic when needed). Between them was Anette Olson, beautiful voice in studio, rock/pop timbre, but less constant in live events. I'm telling you because you might find yourself a little confused checking them on your own: they have more than 120 songs, ALL really different from each other musically wise, and the three singers, with their own interpretations, can shift the overall feeling of a random song a lot. Anyways, a gold rule to follow is that Nightwish is better to be experienced live, so stick with live videos in your personal journey. It's a long way down in this rabbit hole, so... be aware!😉 👋🇮🇹🖖

Nightwish is a Finnish band that started in 1996. The group has 9 studio albums. The first 5 were recorded with Tarja, the woman you just heard. Since you like guitar, I think you will really like these 5 albums, as they have a power metal influence, especially "Oceanborn" and "Wishmaster". In addition to power metal, Nightwish with Tarja was heavily influenced by Gothic metal, symphonic music and folk music. The 4 studio albums produced after Tarja's departure practically do not have the influences of power metal and gothic metal. The band has increasingly become a symphonic and folk metal group. The second vocalist is Anette, she recorded 2 studio albums, and the current one is Floor, who also recorded 2 studio albums. The three singers have completely different styles, but are good in their own way. Anette has a pop vocal, and Floor explores different styles, such as rock, pop and lyrical singing, but her lyrical singing is not as developed as Tarja's. Floor sings a lot in belting, even in the songs made for Tarja. She uses lyrical singing in just a few moments.

More Nightwish please, Caleb. As nearly everyone has mentioned Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013 is the next one to do. NW have had 3 wonderful female vocalists but Marco is special too.

Your memory fails you! Phantom of the Opera started at around the 20 min mark of the concert, she's still wearing the yellow dress that she begins the concert with. Either way - she's impressive in this performance, I love it.
