This was their biggest hit, and it appeared in the movie and on the soundtrack to the Molly Ringwald romantic comedy "Pretty in Pink" (the redhead teen girl in the music video scenes). ... You might also like the 1980s British band called ABC and their songs "Poison Arrow" and "The Look of Love" and "Be Near Me." ABC was part of the New Romantics scene in 1980s England, which also included dapper-dressed bands like Duran Duran and Spandau Ballet ("True").

I love OMD, and this particular song -- such nostalgia! Reminds me of when I first saw Pretty in Pink, still one of my fave movies ever with the quintessential 80s cast, ultimate soundtrack (EVERY song on it is amazing) and the clothes and overall style is to die for. You'd love the movie and the soundtrack.

I love OMD (later shortened to this). And yes, you said it right. You might enjoy watching several movies from the 80s, especially the John Hughes movies , look for Molly Ringwald, she was in most of Hughes' work. I am not saying do reactions, lol, just I think you might like these films.

OMD are another giant of the British electronic scene of the 80’s and as others have said, heavily featured in John Hughes movie Pretty In Pink, which is packed with other British 80’s electronica too.
