Actually Scott doesn't speak French 🤯 the only member fluent in another language is Kevin (Mandarin) and Kirstin knows a little Spanish. They also sing a handful of other songs in different languages. My favorite is the Perfume Medley (Japanese)

All those a-cappella groups are just hardcore cringe, please stop reacting to them I'm not a fan of kpop as well but I rather listen to bts 100 hours than 1 hour to such crap as pentatonix. Matter of fact most of the kpop groups are much better than american pop (not surprising since american pop is peak trash) including this a-cappella crap what's even worse are their music videos when they make those weird cringe and creepy faces what are they a channel for toddlers? Only teenagers below 18 can find this cringe crap good and entertaining. From what I've seen, they put a lot of work in their pronunciation, my favourite is Perfume Medley (it's a short one but so good), you should also react to their Evolution of videos, like the Evolution of Michael Jackson or the Evolution of Rihanna.

As a french-speaking person I can tell you that Scott did a great job with his pronounciation but he obviously has quite an accent. I like that they did this song even though I've heard it so many times that I'm over it by now!!!

I think I read somewhere that when PTX does a song in a different language, nowadays, they immerse whomever is singing the part in language classes for a minimum of 6 weeks. They didn't when younger.

As an English-speaking singer I have memorized songs in at least a dozen languages. You always start out thinking there's no way, especially something like Russian or Japanese where it has no relation to English. But you learn it phonetically, either written or from a recording and just repeat it over and over, getting corrections from a native speaker. And then magically your brain clicks and you can spit out the words without even thinking about it. The human brain is a wonderous thing.

True! And as you said, it definitely helps to have a native speaker of the language to lead you or a recording in the original language to study. I have sung songs in Botswanan, Nigerian, Korean, Russian, Romanian, Japanese, German, French and Spanish. I can still sing many of those songs in the original language because once you study it very carefully, you never forget them. The German drinking songs I learned in HS seem to be the most useful now!

I can guarantee that when you reacted to Radioactive with Lindsey Stirling, I recommended Papaoutai to you - I love this video, and I'll recommend it at the drop of a hat! The makeup threw me off, at first, but now I love it! When Pentatonix sings in a language not English, they usually hire tutors to get the pronunciation and accent as close to a native speaker as they can. Scott doesn't speak French - or Italian, or Korean, or Japanese, which are all languages that Pentatonix has performed songs in. Not quite as sure about Spanish, as Scott did grow up in Texas, so he might have at least a small knowledge of it - and his close friend Kirstin does speak Spanish, at least a little. From comments on the original video, he apparently did pretty well with the French pronunciation! French - Papaoutai Italian - The Prayer Korean - Gangnam Style (be sure to save time for the blooper reel as well!) Spanish - Despacito x Shape of You, Feliz Navidad Japanese - Perfume medley, Pretender, Dear My Friend, Midnight in Tokyo - the last two in collaboration with J-Pop girl group Little Glee Monster. Kirstin and Mitch are the best Japanese speakers, as they are (or at least were) both big Japanese anime fans.

Singing in a foreign language isn't as hard as people think who never tried it. It takes a little bit of effort to learn the lyrics but it is nothing compared to learn to talk in another language! (I hope this makes sense, English is my second language)

As an American English speaker, I understand you perfectly. I've been trying to learn Dutch, and it's so difficult to learn to speak it, but I listen to some songs that are Dutch, and I can follow in singing rather easily, even though I know I will have my American accent mixed into it lol

It is such a beautiful language. I love the sound of it. When I speak English I do it with a German accent and I am pretty sure that I sing in English with a German accent, too. 😊

None of them speak French. They actually hired a dialect coach to learn the pronunciation for Papaoutai. Scott also sings in all Korean for Gangnam Style and italian in The Prayer.. The trio all sing Japanese in the perfume medley and Pretender. Mitch and Kirstie seem to shine on the Japanese sound a little more. Plus Kirstie sings in Spanish on decpacito and Feliz navidad. Kevin speaks fluent Mandarin. Pets favmve it. They're talented.

Hello Luke. So glad you are still doing PTX. PTX are always stretching themselves artistically and strive for perfection in every detail. They have songs with inputs in Japanese, Korean, French, Spanish and Italian. Keep going with PTX reactions until you cover all 300 or so of their songs whether as music videos or their live performances. PTX has done a few collabs with Lindsey Stirling. Have you already reacted to Over The River? Lindsey on violin and Kevin on cello with PTX vocas. Scott took vocal lessons with a French tutor to learn to pronounce the French lyrics perfectly even though he doesn't speak French! Like when they sing in Korean or Japanese, being excellent with memorizing how it should sound makes them able to sing in languages they aren't fluent in.

Yes Scott speaks French, at least for this song he does. Think about his Italian in the Prayer. What I read a couple years ago is when they need to know another language for a song they hire a native speaker to teach them. Just someone that speaks the language as a second language is not good enough, they have to have a native speaker to make sure they get all the small things right. You already know they are perfectionist, what makes you think this will be any different? Great reaction btw.

Scott does great in this! I believe there was a tour performance where Scott was sick and, to reduce the number of solos he would need to do, one of the things they did was to have Mitch take the solo for this song. That's another thing that amazes me about this group: that they all know their songs well enough to be able to rearrange themselves like that if needed.

What I like about your reactions is that you allow yourself to be refreshed, rather than trying to anticipate what you'll hear - as if that would make you appear somehow wiser to your audience. I know blocking is a problem for Pentatonix reactors. You might consider reacting to some songs that don't have an official video -- audio or lyric videos, or the increasing number of good quality live videos. The band has done songs all or in part in French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Italian. Other than Kevin speaking Mandarin and Kirstin speaking Spanish, no one else is bi-lingual.

Hey from NYC, so sorry about the relationship you have with your parents but I'm so proud of you cause you seem like an amazing father. I myself was and am a single parent, I raised my ex husband's 2 kids then I gave him a son who is now 32 and is an Amazing dad and I also have an 8yr old whose dad left before I gave birth. You can learn to song anything in a foreign language without knowing what it means. Just learn the proper pronunciation and the feel of the song and you are good to go. That said, I do believe Scott speaks French...I think.
