You have opened the door to a deep rabbit hole. First off, the vocalist/bass player who started this off is Casey Abrams, who is an amazing musician and who was on American Idol the same season as Haley. They both made it to the finals and have performed a number of times together since. As others have said, "Dream On" featuring Morgan (the blonde) is a must, as well as Haley's "Creep" are absolute musts.

This is taped in the same backroom rehearsal studio in Switzerland and on the same day as "Creep", it was years ago on their first European tour, it was only their stage show that they just recorded on a day off between shows, that's why it looks choreographed, it's their show tune. They still perform both these tracks as the core part of their tours today

@jimcrawford3221Ай бұрын
American Idol probably has tight copyright rules; however, Haley's performance of House of the Rising Sun (finals or semis) was wonderful. She and Casey still do a lot of work together. Hit The Road Jack and Baby It's Cold Outside are a couple of their collaborations. :-) You can't go wrong with any of the PMJ songs.

Recorded on the same day and Zurich studio they recorded "Creep" on their day off during PMJ's 2015 European Tour, the first time PMJ had ever re-recorded a cover they'd already done (thus European Tour Version in the title). This tour was Haley's first professional tour after she competed on American Idol. This tour and many of the iconic performers of the 2015 European tour would go on to tour the US (Twice) Australia, New Zealand and a few Asian cities. It's cast includes many of PMJ's most popular singers, Haley, Morgan James, Ariana Savalas and Casey Abrams. Plus, back then, Scott played piano in 90% of those shows (He's basically retired from live performances more recently, PMJ has up to 3 troupes touring the world at any given time)

This was my first introduction to Haley almost 9 years ago and I was hooked. I love Morgan also and she probably has a stronger voice than Haley but there was something about Haley's inflections and phrasing that I was drawn to and I have been following ever since. She is one of a kind.

This vid is a gateway drug. PMJ (thank you Scott) really scratches that itch for transposing today's music to an earlier time. It's often jazz/swing, but sometimes it's 60's pop or 70's soul; it's always cool. Haley is a master jazz singer. You've seen what she can do with Creep - Seven Nation Army is just as good, maybe better. Haley also does some Jefferson Airplane with Casey (separate from PMJ), and the oddest duo you can imagine with Jeff Goldblum. Morgan James has done some outstanding work with PMJ (Dream On, Take Me To Church, Barbie Girl, Maps, Sweet Child Of Mine), and her non-PMJ stuff is just as good (Call My Name, the entire White Album, Hallelujah, Take Me Home, Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin', and too many more to list.) If you think you can take it, check out Haley and Morgan doing Dear Prudence with just Doug Wamble (Morgan's husband) on guitar.

great reaction seton hill.... this was the first postmodern jukebox i saw and still one of my favorites. it does excellent job of representing the overall experience of what pmj does so well. not just the excellent vocalist, musicians and arrangement but meticulous implementation of "vintage" character though their outfits, expressions, movements and setting that virtually transfers you back in time. its also great how each of the women are unique in vocal attributes and styles yet can then also harmonize so well together... in addition, the dual bass play was very creative touch and notice how it ends with the bass getting the last word.... well, because its "all about the bass". 😎

PMJ is primarily Scott Bradlee, usually seen on piano. He's been switching eras for songs since he was in high school - . There's a key group of musicians that are often there, but he rotates different singers/musicians through for different songs

@@boroblueyes The first PMJ video was posted in February 2010. Their first viral video was posted in February 2013. Scott Bradlee on the first video: "I had been toying with the idea of 'classing up' pop music for awhile, but I finally decided to make the jump into putting together a full band for a recording of Lady Gaga’s hit song, 'Paparazzi.' I reached out to some of my most talented friends from college: bassist Chris Anderson, saxophonist Ben Golder-Novick, harpist Brandee Younger, and vocalist Emma Walker. I didn’t have any music prepared, just a general idea. We set a date to record on February 20, 2010."

@firedoc5Ай бұрын
I had never heard this song or about Meagan Trainor, so this video is the first time I heard it. Those three women are top tier of PMJ. Morgan James is a Julliard trained opera singer that can blow your socks off with any genre of music. Her cover of "Dream On' will have you on the edge of your seat. Arianna Savalas is the daughter of actor Telly Savalas and is also known for her acts reprising burlesque and old vaudeville shows. Scott Bradley, playing piano, is the genius that takes music and rearranges it into something new, and many times makes improvements from the originals.

One of my PMJ favorites is their 60s soul-style cover of Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leppard. So fun.

PMJ is cool for sure. You should also check out Broken Peach. They do covers of songs. Their Halloween videos are wild with crazy makeup and a nice version of ABBA’S Mama Mia. Then also check out Puddles Pity Party. He does some really cool mash-up’s. Specifically Pinball Wizzard/Stairway To Heaven and Folsom Prison Blues/Gilligans Island Theme. You would have a ton of fun with all of these, I promise. One more PMJ song that’s really cool is Bad Romance.
@agwyvernАй бұрын
About Broken Peach -- they also do some of their own originals. I quite enjoyed their videos for "Pero Si Tu" and "I Miss You" --- They did the song in Spanish and English. (They're a Spanish group.) Good music and since it's their native language, the words in Pero Si Tu just flow beautifully (to my non-Spanish-comprehending ears, at least). I *understand* the words in I Miss You since it's my only non-computer language :-), and it's almost as good. Well worth several listens, including going through each of their Hallowe'en videos -- the last few have been especially great!

I almost didn't click on the vid just bc of the song title. The original is stupid, imo. This, on the other hand was amazing. I never heard them before and it blew my mind that young people brought back that 40's jazz style of music. They reminded me of videos I've seen of performers doing their thing to raise money for the war effort, WWII. So cool. The ladies are absolutely beautiful and their vocals are out of this world. So glad I clicked on. Now I have to check out the other one I skipped over.

What's next? Well ... let's let *you* drive the suggestions ... - Are there any groups/performers/songs that you *really* like, and would like to hear how they would be interpreted in another genre? If so ... who/what are they? There's a good chance PMJ has covers of at least some of them. - Are there any groups/performers/songs that you *despise*? If so, again, who/what are they? There's a great chance that PMJ has covers of at least some of them and may redeem them for you. - Are there any genres you *love*? If so, other than metal, PMJ probably has some for you! - Are there any genres you *loathe*? If so, almost guaranteed PMJ has morphed some songs from those genres into something totally different! In other words ... as someone mentioned below, PMJ has almost bang-on 400 videos as of this posting starting with their cover of Thrift Shop that was posted on 11 Feb 2013.
