Oh yes, Brian can sing!! He has the voice of an angel, and it fits so well in these lyrics. I love this one sooooo much! Brian wrote the most wonderful lyrics. We can hear Freddie in the backing vocals, but giving Brian all the stardom he deserves. And Roger is absolutely killing the high notes, while John kills in the bass. Queen are LEGENDS!!!
@andreakormosnekacso48043 жыл бұрын
Brian has a nice soft voice and he was the best able to work out the harmonies. He composed the songs in which Freddie had to sing the highest notes. Queen was on tour in the US when they were invited for afternoon tea at the home of Groucho Marx who was then 86 years old. Queen named 2 of their albums (A Night at The Opera and A Day at The Races) after films by the Marx Brothers and they performed at his request an acapella version of this song and presented him with a gold disc in recognition of his inspiration. I think it's uniqe.

You can clearly hear Freeddie in the backing vocals, while Roger does a stellar job with the high pitch vocal parts. By the way, it's basically the plot of Interstellar in 4 minutes. Sorry for the spoiler.

I would like to see you react to the two versions of 'Too Much Love Will Kill You', one sang by Freddie and one by Brian (official video). It's a absolutely heartbreaking song, you will realize what a good singer Brian is. Of course Freddie is the better singer, but I think Brian's version of this song has more emotion. You can see in his teary eyes the pain and the sadness he is going through, you can literally feel his hurt. Brian wrote it in 1988 when he was going through a lot complicated time for him and his family... emotionally; he was in love with his actual wife, but he was still married to the mother of his 3 children, and the heartache of seeing Freddie getting worse every day. Besides of that, when he sang To Much Love Will Kill You in 1992 he just lost Freddie and his dad. Absolutely heartbreaking :(

Brian May called it a “sci-fi skiffle” - an acoustic song in the folk tradition. Live, Queen found another facet to '39, playing it as a raucous, rollicking sea shanty - Houston in 1977 shows Freddie on lead vocals and maracas and Roger Taylor on tambourine. George Michael performed "'39" at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert in April 1992. Michael cited this song as his favorite Queen song, claiming he used to busk it on the London Underground

There's a video of Brian solo onstage that I saw where he does Love Of My Life and then there's a hologram of Freddie finishing the song. Brian and Roger both are good vocalists. I still believe Brian has the greatest rock n roll hair in history. My favorite John Deacon written song is You're My Best Friend. He wrote it for his wife. All four were good songwriters. Roger wrote These Are The Days Of Our Lives as a tribute to his children, but as they made the video, I cried all the way through because it took on a whole new meaning.

The lyrics are about space travelling at light speed, ''night follows day'' as they break out of the blue sky...and how they will be ageing differently due to travelling at the speed of light....Brian has done a few solo albums, check out his StarFleet project I think from 1983 with Eddie Van Halen and other guest guitarists...plus his 1992 album, Back to the light, a big hit was 'Driven by you' which is very queen sounding and recorded around the Innuendo album period to help through the dark times of Freddie's illness.

Check out, ‘The Brian May Band from Brixton Academy 1993’. Songs, ‘Back to the Light’, ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, ‘Tie Your Mother Down’, and ‘Headlong’. Brian wrote these songs with Queen. He started this band after Freddie died. He had a hard time after Freddie died, plus a divorce and almost committed suicide. Love Freddie but the song Headlong from Brian was amazing at the Brixton. Love this from Brian.

My man, I´ve been missing this. So glad you choose this one; it was on my recommendations for Brian songs, and I have to say is my absolute favorite by he in Queen. Has you know Brian has a thing for astrofisics and he was a big, BIG sci-fic comics when he was young, so this is a space travel song that plays with relativity, the Vounteers where gone only a year in their perspective, but here 100 years pass, so that line of "from your eyes, your mother´s eye cry to me" is so emotional (at least for me). And you are rigth, he could have his own proyect, and in fact he made solo albums while Freedie was in still alive. I recomend you his album "Another World".

Based on Einstein's theory of relativity, the space/time continuum, that space and time are interwoven so events that occur for one individual do not occur at the same time for another. Beyond my comprehension but no doubt studied by May for his PhD. With distant space travel at tremendous speeds, theoretically some would age at a different rate than those left behind. The earth is a dying planet so brave volunteers are looking for a new home planet, which they eventually found, and then joyously return home. They return and all of their loved ones are long dead and gone, even their grandchildren. They are now sole survivors among their families and friends so "For my life still ahead pity me".

Please, consider reacting to Mother Love. It is the last recording that Freddie did. He couldn't finish it. He left the studio because he was tired and said he would come back to finish the song when he felt better. He never made it back to the studio, he died a few months later. Brian recorded the last verse months after Freddie died. It's him after the guitar solo.

I'm glad the whole band gave their individual talents to make the phenomenon that is Queen. In a way I can see the sacrifice idea but they all knew that TOGETHER they were greater than any of them were alone. So was it a sacrifice? Not really. They are legendary together, sure they could have had music careers separately but would we remember them as we do? Who knows, perhaps they would have been throwing their true fame away with that decision. I'm glad that as Queen they were willing to let each other have the spotlight in different songs and settings, and that they had opportunities beyond Queen to shine separately. Would they have had the same opportunities apart from their connection to Queen? Maybe, but also...maybe not. Oh, and we're glad you're back. Were we patient? I know I wasn't particularly. Lol. I was anxious to have you back in business. The show must go on after all. I knew you were trying to resolve technical difficulties, likely on your own or with whatever resources you could rustle up. I know that can be hard and for me impossible, so I was trying to be patient. :-)

Freddie, no question, had the best voice of the three. But Brian and Roger could Sing, capital S! Songs like this and More of That Jazz, I think they made the right choice in letting the writer take the lead. They all wrote well for Freddie, but there were times, when Brian and Roger wrote songs that more perfectly matched their particular vocal style (Brian, soft woeful ballads. Roger, pure gritty rockers). This one combined the best of both Brian and Roger (Brian said in a documentary that the song is really a tour de force of Roger’s high voice). And like you said, shows how they totally, willingly yielded to Freddie’s superior voice in most cases, and the generosity of Freddie taking very much a backseat in this one.
