This was a pretty big hit for Queens of The Stone age and the first song that a lot of folks heard by them even though they had a string fan base. This is from. Their third album. It was nominated for a Grammy back in the early 2000s

Another fun fact......Tom Petty (Tom Petty and the heartbreakers) offered him a job as their drummer. He had to make a decision to play for them or go ahead with Foo Fighters. He definitely made the correct decision.

I think Dave looks so different because his hair is so short. This vid is one of the only times I've ever seen him with short hair. "Drummer Dave" is such a skilled musician that on the first Foo Fighters album he played every instrument and sang. The entire band was just him and he recorded the entire album solo. Right before the album was released he hired the rest of the band to start doing shows! I would love to see you two react to Everlong by Foo Fighters or In Bloom by Nirvana, both songs have some of his best drum work.

Dave is such a good person. He bought all the studio boards that him and so many artist recorded in. He always gets someone at his converts to come up and play in the band ,he's funny. He had an 8 or 10 year old come perform live at his concert, she played the drums , she liked his music. Someone told him about her on KZbin, told Dave she played better than him,lol

What happened in 2000 -'01 was... Dave Grohl was recording a new Foo Fighters album 'One by one' and a heavy metal all-star project he named Probot. The Probot album came out first, but he was frustrated w/ the tracks that emerged for 'One by one'... Unwilling to release the 'One by one' album as it was, Grohl went on tour w/ QOTSA playing drums and also recorded drums for this 2002 album 'Songs for the deaf' which u heard here. When he came back home, he and the Foo Fighters decided to try recording 'One by one' from scratch at his home studio. This time, the same tracks sounded much better. That record came out in 2002 as well... both albums sold a million copies each in the US.

He always pulls someone from the concert audience to play in the band. He'll tell them he's kicking their ass if they can't play. A guy had his face painted like Kiss, he called him KISS the whole time. It's all on KZbin, it's great.

Foo Fighters is Dave Grohl's main band where he writes and sings the songs but he loves being a drummer. He plays drums for a bunch of bands. He sometimes shows up as a surprise drummer at live shows; Drummer Dave is one of the greatest living drummers.

If you want to hear Dave really go nuts on the drums, check out Song for the Dead (not Deaf, but that's a good song too). The live version has good energy but the studio version is a lot cleaner. The bassist (Mr. Bald Shirtless back there) was kicked out of the band because he wouldn't stop getting naked on stage and getting them in trouble. You were right, that was a deer. There are a bunch of species, many called deer, but also caribou (reindeer), elk (freaking huge), and moose (the ones with the big flat antlers, and even bigger than elk). Confusingly, Europeans call moose elk. Elk burgers are good.

Want to see more Dave on Drums?? Here's a curveball! During a 2008 Foo Fighters show in Wembley Stadium in the UK in front of 80,000 people, Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins (the Foo's drummer) played a few Led Zeppelin songs with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones (two of the remaining members of LZ). On this one, Taylor comes out front to sing, and Dave gets behind the kit. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZOxh3yGdqZ1ndk BTW, this isn't Dave's last encounter with LZ. Dave on Drums, John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin on bass, and Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age on guitar formed a supergroup called Them Crooked Vultures. There's good songs there too.

Great band! Glad you took the advice and gave it a shot. My favorite Drummers are John Bonham (Zepp) Neil Peart (Rush) and Bill Ward (Sabbath) but Dave really stole the show on this song!! QOTSA HAVE TONS OF GREAT SONGS - Sat by the ocean - If I had a tail and I appear missing, SMOOTH SAILING, Lost Art of Keeping a secret is the song that first turned me onto them - so solid - I also really like a LOT of Foo Fighters songs. I saw Nirvana in concert not long before Kurt died. Enjoyed them but not as much as FF - Come Alive, Sky is a neighborhood etc etc etc

Grolh is one of those people I'd love to try to hate (cause he's just that good). He is one of the best drummers of all time. He proved himself an incredible song writer and pretty darn good guitarist once he opened up after Nirvanna. The guys is just so talented I don't think there is a thing he couldn't do if he set his mind to it. Would love to dislike the guy but man, he is just way too talented and a humble man which shows his character. He is 1 of 1. One of the best musicians of the 2000s to now. He is the closest single performer to Prince there is and I don't think there is anybody even close to Price.

Queens of the Stone Age is a radically different band from either Nirvana or Foo Fighters... Dave Grohl only played on 1 QOTSA record - 'Songs for the deaf' in 2002. QOTSA debuted in 1998 as a new project by vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme... he played all the instruments (except drums) on their 1st album. Then, he added bassist Nick Oliveri (who was his bandmate in a previous band named Kyuss that split up in 1995) ... Their sound was 'stoner rock' cos of the fuzz guitar sounds and the psychedelic influences. 2nd album 'Rated R' in 2000 got them MTV exposure and that record sold well... Nick Oliveri was fired in 2004 after the 3rd album 'Songs for the deaf' became their biggest record. Josh Homme brought in new members for QOTSA in 2005 for the 'Lullabies to paralyze' album, followed by the album 'Era vulgaris' in 2007... both records sold well in the US and Europe. Last 2 QOTSA albums 'Like Clockwork' in 2013 went to #1 on the US charts... 'Villains' in 2017 went to #3. QOTSA songs to check out - "Go with the flow" ... "The Lost art of keeping a secret"... 'If only' ... 'First it giveth' ... 'Little sister' ... 'Regular John' ... 'Avon'...🔥🔥🤘🤘 Josh Homme also recorded & played in a friend's band - Eagles of Death Metal... he also made headlines in 2017 after he assaulted a female photographer at a QOTSA concert... Lately, Homme has been involved in a bad divorce w/ ex-wife Brody Dalle (lead singer of The Distillers) and custody battle involving their kids...

I saw another comment bring up the band "Them Crooked Vultures" If you wanna see some intense drumming. Definitely check out some of their stuff. Doesn't matter if it's studio or live. Josh Homme on guitars and vocals, the legend John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin on bass and other instruments and of course Dave Grohl on drums. I've been waiting every so patiently for them to release another album. Only one album that came out in 2009.
