Saw Rammstein live a bunch of years ago. Felt like I was in a sci-fi movie. Intro they slowly paraded down the arena stands dressed like knights, with flags and torches. Then proceeded down through the crowd to the middle of the floor where there was a platform that they ascended. Then a super futuristic bridge spacecraft appeared from the arena ceiling, that slowly descended together with bass rumbly, sci-fi oozing, out of this world soundscape, and the bridge craft covered in lights and tonnes of steam jets going off aroung it's sides and larger downwards continuously. The bridge eventually landed between the the platform and the edge of the stage, and the band/knights continued their walk over the bridge and to the stage. Crazy production!

Fun facts: The lead vocalist Till Linndeman was training to be an olympic swimmer at 1 point and he also suffered (suffers, not sure if he still does) from extreme stage fright, hence the pyrotechnics. He used the pyrotechnics as a way for him to envision the crowd paying attention to something else and not all eyes on him. He also ended up getting his own pyrotechnics license. The band does their own pyro as I believe they all have their licenses. At 1 point they were banned from the US for I believe indecient exposure (live version of Buck Dich...do not recommend watching) and I heard somewhere also for overuse of pyrotechnics. I've heard people would leave some of their shows suffering heat stroke. Rammstein is also rated as 1 of the greatest shows on the planet. It's said that even if you don't necessarily like their music, you need to see them live just for the show it's so good. They are also probably 1 of few bands who have never had a lineup change. These are all the original members of the band. I think it was the Live Aus Berlin version of this song way back when, they had Bobo in a cage on stage doing the female vocals live and during the "keyboard solo" part of the song, the drummer had sparklers attached to his drumsticks so he was playing sparkler drumstricks. It was so cool to watch.

I read that the band is not a member of BMI or ASCAP which are performing rights organizations that collect royalties from songwriters and publishers and pay them to their members. They rarely tour the U.S. and the last time they did a few years ago they only played 10 stadiums in the U. S. Tickets for that tour sold out in 40 minutes.

Absolutely true, Till was very nervous on stage & sometimes wore dark goggles so the audience couldn't see his fear. And yes, he was training for the olympic swimming team. I also saw his home village in which he is very quiet & humble & likes nothing better than doing a spot of fishing. Absolutely no ego. He's just Till to his fellow villagers. And they are unchanged, they are just great friends which is rare.

So glad you liked this. Rammstein is a show, not just a concert. If you have a little more time, I would highly recommend you watch the Paris show from the start & just the first song. (NOT the whole show as it's over 2 hours long.) It's just the most amazing & unique start to a show I've ever seen, & I've seen maybe 70 bands live (I'm 57 & from the UK.) You can see the show on KZbin & you won't regret it.

One thought comes to my mind every time I watch this video: As far as I know, Rammstein used to play ´Engel´as the last song on their tour, hence the stage "exploding". Now imagine having to wear these really heavy metal wings at the end of a -round about- 2 hour gig and have to sing whilst beeing exhausted and carrying this weight. In addition the drummer is showing no tiredness as well. As if he only had started to bang on these drums. Incredible.

In regards to reccomendations if you want a slower song just focused on Till Lindeman (the singer) check out: Mein herz brennt (my heart burns) the piano version. Which is a song about a darker version of the sandman sung from its perspective. If you want a more intense song Mein Teil (my part) is a reccomendation which is a song based on a real life even where someone volunteered to be cannibalized and killed by someone else. The part they are referring to well you can guess. If you want a reccomendation for a live show reaction. Id say go with Puppe (puppet) which is a disturbing song about a young boy seeing his child sister work as a prostitute and get killed by a client. (based on a poem written by Till) or ich tu dir wehr which has a funny moment and some nice pyro work (song is about someone torturing someone else and getting off on it and its revealed that the person is hurting himself)

Their "Mein Teil" ( live version) would be a good next choice. It is based on a German cannibalism case, & depicts Till literally trying to cook some unfortunate soul in a huge pot, using an industrial-strength flame thrower. Lots of laughs, & a powerful sonic experience, to boot.

Ramstein is the air base. Thats why they called the band Rammstein in oder to seperate the two things.

@@marcpritchard3307 Rammstein is called Rammstein with 2xM because they didn't know at the time, that Ramstein Air Base was written with just one M / or that the town Ramstein is only written with one M, to be more precise. Their name does actually originate in the Ramstein Air Base, where a disaster took place at this point in time, that unfortunately killed 70 people. They took that name temporarly, while being on tour, in order to get attention and to spread the word a bit faster. They originally intended to not keep that name and wanted to change that name a bit later.
