Great reaction - and you're right, this is metal, it is just done very differently (and better). Ignore the gatekeepers and haters - they are just wrong about everything they say about BABYMETAL ... without realising it they have become the establishment and this time it is their imaginary rules that have been torn up and thrown away ... and isn't that what metal is all about? The main difference here is you got to hear Su singing live and the Kami Band playing live and those things always make for a better experience than the studio audio you had with the Gimme Chocolate video. Keep the BABYMETAL coming, you're scratching the surface now, there is a lot more and much greatness for you to discover yet.

When they're on stage live, they will put on a performance. They knew when they first started, there will be people who laughed and not take them seriously. It did not and has not stopped them. Now, people count their lucky stars if the could get a ticket to their show. They are now everywhere. They are the headlines.

"With the legendary long black hair gorgeously disordered, this crazy blooming flower will soon disappear. The time has come. I no longer hesitate. I tightly hold my discount railway tickets. To the east, to the west, to the south, to the north. Today I rush to the very front of stage center. On the left side, on the right side, standing up still, leaning back, jumping toward the stage, leaning over the fence, rolling over the crowd, and then all deeply headbanging. This special night of my fifteen I'll never forget. All the crybabies, get out of here! It'll never come again and it goes by so fast. I etch in my heart this special night of my fifteen." Hi Heavy! Good reaction! "Headbanger!" is a song about a girl going to her first metal concert on her 15th birthday. It's easily my favorite song on the first album. It's not about any of the girls as they started in BABYMETAL when they were 12 and 10 years old. This is from the same concert as the "Gimme Chocolate" video you saw but this was with the live audio. The concert was called "Legend 1997" as it was Su-Metal's (lead singer) 16th birthday show and she was born in 1997.

And they are the most fun since the invention of sliced bread if you ask me. Though I'm maybe not the most objective person you could ask about them... Speaking of the performance: Maybe you're noticed, this is the same show like the footage they used for their "Gimme Chocolate" music video. But this time with live audio. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 I was thrilled when they brought this song back for 2019-2020. Even though 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!!!' is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first rock concert, Su was only fourteen when the song was released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than attending concerts like the girl in the song. Both Yui and Moa got to take over on lead vocals on this one for shows near their fifteenth birthdays. More recently both Su and Moa performed it on concerts close to their 20th birthdays, with a slight lyric change (15 to 20). The 20th birthday is a very important one in Japan. Guitarists for that 2013 'Legend 1997' concert were Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus. Bassist was BOH, and Hideki Aoyama was on drums.

If you're up for more babymetal, I'd 100% keep up with the live shows. As they say, it's their #1 trait. Road of Resistance Live in Japan and Ijime Dame Zettai from Sonisphere 2014 in the UK are musts and you'll definitely like them based on this one.

People who trash Babymetal are just insecure. Too afraid of what others might think. Are you feeling any better about the vocals after the second song? As you hear more from Su, I'm sure you will realize how good she actually is. Her vocals and stage presence are phenomenal.

I'm usually into stuff like TOOL, Mudvayne, Rammstein, Clutch, Slipknot, Alice in Chains, etc but when I stumbled into Babymetal I was hooked immediately. Seriously within 1 minute of the first song I heard I knew I found something that I loved (this was the Karate official vid) I saw them 3 times on their 2019 tour, it was awesome. I've seen a lot of bands live. I saw Manson in his prime in the 90's, Slipknot in 2002, Rammstein twice, TOOL 5 times, Disturbed 4 times, SOAD, Incubus, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Sevendust, Five Finger Death Punch, Trivium, APC, Puscifer, Primus, and on and on but Babymetal is right up there at the top for live shows and that was 2019 Babymetal which IMO isn't even their prime (Late 2015 to early 2017 was). If you hate them, that's fine. But hate them because you listened to it and don't like it, not because of what someone else says or might think, or due to some misled metal elitism.

Great reaction and subscribed on the back of it. You clearly saw that, even 5 years ago, when this was filmed, the girls were pretty fecking Metal already. The Kami Band are skilled Metal head musicians and they can really shred, tap and slam out the Metal live. The mix of genres - Metal and pop - is refreshing (I saw Sabbath live in 1976 and in the 44 years in between that gig and seeing Babymetal live in Feb this year, they are the first true originals I've seen in a long while and certainly the only band who I can headbang to while smiling broadly, a unique power they have!). They were just 16 and 15 or so here and Su, the lead singer (a soprano with a range of C4 to G#5) is now 22 and Moa, one of the remaining two girls with her here, is 20 so maybe take a peek at what they're doing now, something like the full-on raw Metal Rap of BxMxC from one of their February concerts this year ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJuxeXSQdqaEq8k ). Or maybe take a look at an iconic performance from a few years ago, such as when they first played one of the UK's major Metal festivals (cos Metallica convinced the people who ran it that they needed to give Babymetal a chance) and, aged 15 and 16, walked out on stage in front of 65,000 Metalheads waiting to see Metallica headline, nearly all of whom hadn't heard of them before. They finished their set with this song about stopping bullying forever (a subject sadly neglected by the likes of Maiden and Rammstein - come on, guys, keep up!). It's a classic performance, IDZ live at Sonisphere: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKCQkJaYm8mlj6c . Then there's the amazing sight of one of their colossal mosh pits during a finale song written for them by Dragonforce, Road of Resistance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIWoioh8nLGpm7s . Oh, and in 45 years of Metalling, the most Metal thing I've seen is their song 'Death', as performed on Su's 16th birthday, which usually generates tons of WTF?'s from reactors and silence from the doubters as their brains try to compute what they just witnessed as it goes against all they thought they knew about Babymetal's Metal credentials. Death: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPGapeYnM51hqs . Stay safe out there.

Headbanging with a big smile, that's the BABYMETAL way. :-) My impression is that the number of hate comments has decreased over the years, but they are still there. I wish people would at least acknowledge the talent. No one expects that everybody loves their music or the concept, but to say they are crap or not Metal or whatever is just silly. As you said, it says a lot about the person saying it. They are unique, they are fresh, and those are qualities that any genre can benefit from, and particularly Metal. My guess is that with the next song you'll learn to fully appreciate Su's voice and vocals. I think "Akatsuki" would be a good choice for that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fISlZqSIaKt-b5Y

I love that when they were accused of being 'Bubblegum metal', Babymetal's response was "Awadama Fever" a song (about time travelling chewing gum) which just enhances the 'cute' as much as possible. And is still damn heavy in places. The amount of talent here just simply can't be denied. Some try, because Babymetal don't fit their world view and narrow opinions. And probably because they simply don't understand exactly what it is they are listening to. I can see that not everyone *likes* Babymetal. But those aggressively attacking them? That seems pretty stupid to me. Kitsune.

In this variants the girl celebrating her birthday take the mic to sing after the middle mayhem. BTW when you see "Legend" it means "birthday", the letter identify the girl: S=SU M=MOA Y=YUI Arguably BABYMETAL heaviest song is Sis Anger, a Black BABYMETAL one, that is with YUI and MOA only on stage, unfortunately since YUI departure, this is not going to be played again 🤷🏻♂️. This is the same show as the Gimme Chocolate video. It looks like a different show because the live band has come out for the encore. The Kami Band was in the early stages here and i assume didn't know all the songs yet. They became full time soon after this.
@Grington3004 жыл бұрын
I think they knew the songs or could have learned them with no problem, they had been doing festivals and encores in some shows since October 2012 - they weren't 'full time' yet because it was more a transitional period where Babymetal were moving from being Idols to becoming an independent band, so they took it bit by bit. There may have been some budgetary restrictions during that period as well. Legend 1997 was the show where the transition finally took full effect starting with the Headbanger remix in full Idol mode to the finale with BABYMETAL Death - and we all know what happened in that.
@Jordan-Ramses4 жыл бұрын

@@Jordan-Ramses So there is no live instrumentation in electronica at all and no possibility, not even a synth or keyboard? But we are talking at cross purposes as that wasn't my point, it was mainly the lip sync I was saying that makes it 'full on Idol'. (The last part of my last comment should have said that they were not pretending it was anything but, I was not saying to you not to pretend). Nowhere have I said this was a bad track, even though it isn't my thing it is clearly a very good example of that style. It just took me a while to grasp what they were doing and why and to really appreciate it for what it is - an important part of Legend 1997 as a show illustrating their transition from one thing to another.

First i saw your gimme choco reaction videos, then i red the negative comment and saw your reply, Now because of this, you got yourself 1 sub from me. Haters gonna hate and let them be, and you're right about giving chances, those girls been there for nearly 10 years for reasons, and you about to find out why, It safe now to suggest you react to: "Road of resistance japan live" Or "Rondo of Nightmare with mischiefs of metal gods" Tell us what you think about those songs, Stay safe, stay metal

Again, I think Yu/Moa are miming this but...you try doing what they’re doing and singing. Su is the main singer, she’s live and that’s the most important. They are a band, they perform live, Su and Moa clearly LOVE to sing, (listen to the later version where Moa also sings!) and people should give this a chance. It’s weird, it’s mismatched and kinda brilliant

A ton of metal fans are so up their own ass and afraid to open their minds to new shit. When you have folks like Rob Halford, Rob Zombie and Metallica supporting this group you should know you're experiencing something special.
