I’m glad you pointed out what Miku does. She doesn’t do the complicated lead riffs. What she does is very precise, is executed flawlessly and she does it while doing backing vocals and bouncing around the stage. All in all very good rhythm guitar player.

23:47 Whenever there's a breakdown or a solo, Saiki is generally dancing with Akane. Saiki was a dancer before becoming the lead singer here. She and Akane enjoy learning dances from anime, or wherever, and performing them for the crowd, during smaller shows. There are fan cams on KZbin of them doing dance routines for the audience. They really commit to them, getting all winded and sweaty. Again, there are no ego's in BAND-MAID. They are all about having fun, and making sure the crowd does, too.

Zepp Tokyo 2018 Saiki fell/was pulled into the ladies' section of the crowd during the previous song freedom (losing her high heels in the process) leaving Miku to finish up the vocals whilst at the time her Zemaitis aces and eights guitar was being worked on by her roadie. saiki returns and sings real existence barefoot which Misa finds hilarious especial as by this stage of the concert (2hrs in and only choose me left to play) she is more than half cut. during Kanamis solo saiki is brought her outdoor heels to wear, all the while Kanami keeps looking behind her to see if she needs to extend the solo to give saiki more time to get her shoes on. her concert shoes were returned to her at the end by the princesses in the audience well it is Japan after all there are many different accounts of what happened during this incident and only they know for sure my version is only based on interviews given also, if you are interested axe Japan does a very good look at Kanami's NEW Pedal Board kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2qtiZWKoqygfrs

I have a different account based on a frame by frame study, consisting of me standing in front of the big screen watching the Blu-ray. But I like the legends ( Page, Akane, Bonham, Reincarnate ). Just want to say that Saiki should go barefoot or in sneakers all the time. She moves like a hungry jaguar on the prowl.

Saiki was not "did not fall/get pulled into the crowd" nor "did she lose her shoes". Saiki took her shoes off and set them on the stage during the Kanami's solo in Freedom and hopped down off the stage. She stood on the guardrail in front of the Princess section of crowd. Princess section is a Japanese thing where they reserve a section for just women. You can see Daisuke Kondo, long time time Band-Maid guitar tech, holding Saiki up on the rail in the video of this concert during the bridge in Freedom. Saiki was not able to rejoin on stage before the next verse so Miku, being the consummate showman she is stepped up and sang the verse herself. Saiki rejoined the stage just in time for the start of this song, Real Existence. You can see her putting her shoes back on during Kanami's solo.
@jefffromchicago63212 жыл бұрын
@@cembor OK. Since you're going to spoil it, I will too. It was all part of the show. Saiki checked her belt, sat on the edge of the stage, took off her shoes ( for some reason she lifted one leg above her head. I think the right. Must have been exciting for the front row fans) and slid of the stage with the mic heading stage right ( we next see her elevated over the rail). Daisuke came out and was in charge of the mic cord from the stage. In front of the stage were a procam guy and a manager type with a handyman. Probably another pro-cam guy. There was a security guy by the stage stairs. Because the procam guys need two hands I believe two more security were present. One to bring a stepstool for Saiki (unseen) and hold her belt (his hand on her belt is visible)as she leaned over the rail. One to hold the mic cable and just be there for security ( at one point you can see two right hands holding the cable). I think Handycam was the other. Then Miku takes over. Saiki and everyone else, off camera, probably take the stairs at the end of stage right. While Miku sings, Daisuke reals in the mic, picks up the shoes ( which Saiki left in disarray like she threw them over her shoulder. As a matter of fact I think Miku kicked one out of the way. They were far apart, then they were closer) and lines them up neatly at the foot of the right corner of the drum stage. And puts the mic in a stand above the shoes. At the beginning of the next song Saiki comes out, grabs the mic and sings barefoot. Without heels she moves like a cat. When Misa solos Saiki sits on the drum stage by her shoes. Next time we see her she's on camera she's wearing shoes.

Miku is tuning because she had to finish Saiki's vocals in the previous song. Their live shows really pack the songs together tight. They don't allow much time for applause or goofing around. So the song before this one, Saiki made a visit to the "princesses" section (they started making an area for women after the mosh pits started getting too rough). She missed the end of the song, and Miku covered her vocals, and she only got back on stage just in time for the start of this one. Miku didn't get her guitar re-tuned for this one until half-way through the first verse. Rock and roll! Kanami has been very complimentary about Miku's rhythm playing. She seems to have a good sense of time, even with tricky rhythms. Check out the opening to "Black Hole" sometime. There's a two-fer live stream recording of "Manners" and "Black Hole". "Manners" is a '70s style bluesy groovy rock song. "Black Hole" is not. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5LJamekg7iFfac They all mess with each other from time to time. There's a fan cam with Misa playing a bass solo while Kanami brushes her hair out of her face for her. Actually, people get judgy about fan cams but they usually focus on one thing and follow it so you can see fingers a little better. The sound quality will be crap and you won't see or hear what's going on on the other side of the stage, but you can see what the hell Kanami (or Misa, or Miku, or Akane) is actually doing. There is (or used to be) a fan cam where they lost their backing tracks. Not much changed. Misa sang backing vocals, which is rare. She's got a great voice, really good intonation. I'm not a big fan of backing tracks, but only because of the additional complexity that also removes any opportunity for altering tempos or adjusting for the crowd response. I stayed to the end. But I geek out too.

There are many unique aspects to Real Existence that sets it apart from many rock songs: the starts and stops, Miku's little breakout vocal line, Akane's double tempo gallop, and Kamani's solo. I mean, who would ever put that kind of solo in a rock song? But it works... just like all of the plot-twists, complex density, and genre-merging they employ on most of their material. Every section offers something different than the previous one. That's one reason many people -- unless you're a musician - may find it difficult to get into their music at first listen. There's so much going on. And then you add the Japanese language and maid outfits... But for people who like and appreciate their writing, musicianship, performance and personalities, Band-Maid's beautiful cacophony of excellence offers unlimited rewards for repeat listening... and mega stardom for the Maids, imxo. There is a backing track being played. Akane controls the instrumental backing track and the click, Kanami controls the vocal backing track. Kanami played/programmed the keyboards on the track. There have been several times where their computer has messed up and a concert where their computer went to Moscow with Kanami's guitar and they didn't. They just rented a guitar for Kanami and did the concert without their backing track. No one in the audience complained. Where the computer just packed it in, the Ladies put a mic in front of MISA and Akane pulled her mic forward and all of the Ladies sang. And trust me, you do NOT want to play poker against Miku. That was Miku you were hearing at the end. And yes, they all will try to make Akane mess up, on this however, Saiki was putting her shoes back on and getting a drink of water.

I have to admit that I was actually just in the mood to watch a few videos without writing about things. But you mentioned a few points that I just don't want to leave uncommented. First, you are absolutely right that the music of these ladies invites you to pay more attention to the music and all the little details. I've been listening to music for as long as I can remember, but before I knew this band, I never listened so closely to what each musician is playing or what is happening in the background. This happened without me noticing it at first. It wasn't until I started watching reaction videos like yours that I really became aware of it. Secondly, I just want to say 'thank you' for the comments about Miku. About what she is doing here and that what she has learned so far is not self-evident. Most of the time, from my point of view, she gets too little or no attention at all in the comments, which is not surprising considering what's going on around her. No, she's not on the same level as Kanami, Misa or Akane, and yet what she does is important. She gives Kanami freedom to do what she does, she is, together with Saiki, an indispensable part vocally, and on top of that, as you say yourself, she is gifted with an energy and driving force without which she wouldn't have got this far. Not to mention that without her, we wouldn't even be able to talk about this band here at all. So, that's what I just wanted to get off my chest. :) _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!'_ 」 --- *BAND-MAID* 'Manners' 🕊

Yeah Kanami is playing the main riff during the first verse and the melody you were hearing was a synth track. They do that on a number of songs. They'll also fairly often add guitar tracks in some songs when they play them live. Funny thing is, they once did have a bunch of their gear, including the sample deck with all their tracks and Kanami's guitar, sent to the wrong airport (wrong country, even). They still played and it sounded good, with all the members providing backing vocals. Kanami had to borrow a PRS (either from a local store or a fan, I can't remember).

I think you take a break. Ok. You always complain about the short solos from Kanami (Band Maid). So, try From now on!!! There is a short solo of almost three and a half minutes.

This song was off of their 2nd album. So Miku was still in her early levels of studies. And no...Band Maid/Kanami did not write this song. This was during the time when they were still using a writing team that was supplied by the label.

I’m glad you pointed out what Miku does. She doesn’t do the complicated lead riffs. What she does is very precise, is executed flawlessly and she does it while doing backing vocals and bouncing around the stage. All in all very good rhythm guitar player.
