@waynebenedict57858 ай бұрын
@@MichaelNolen Actually, as I remember it, Kanami wrote the "Don't Be Long" instrumental to challenge Miku's guitar speed and said if she could plat that song, she would be able to play anything Kanami would write in the future, but it was so good the band kept it as another song to play in concert. My meaning about "Sayonakidori" was a voice challenge, but also Kanami put in the rhythm solo to show the fans how much Miku had improved musically as well.

Yeah totally with you on that time signature shift in the pre-chorus. it goes from standard 4/4 to 3/4 for the whole pre-chorus before Akane cues to go back into 4/4 for the chorus. I also love how they can re-arrange their songs into a different medium (ie acoustic or traditional Japanese) and it gives it a whole fresh perspective. Also, time to check out the softer side of Band-Maid: Daydreaming, Anemone, About Us, Memorable, Wonderland, and the acoustic version of Puzzle......

This is from the Unseen World album. Many of my favorite parts from that album and their music since then are those Miku moments hitting that high note or scream that vastly elevates the song and takes it to the next level. There are plenty of things to love about Band-Maid music, but Miku really is the secret sauce to the band.

I've seen this song live many times now. They really go harder live on this than the studio version (nothing new). When the song gets to that note you're speaking of, the crowd anticipates it and then goes wild when Miku hits it. That's what makes their shows so much fun, the Band & the crowd as one.

And for every meter that Miku flies further and higher, I celebrate her... 'No limits, no borders' does indeed apply very well to Misa, but these words also fit Miku quite well imo. And for the meaning of these words to suit her, this petite person has worked so damn hard and continues to do so unceasingly. 💘😇 Thank you for recording this a second time, as "Miku Masterpieces" ™ 🤭 are relatively rare and quite a lot of us are only too happy to hear your thoughts on these ladies. 🙏🏻🤘🏻 _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. It would be very simple to say "I prefer this version to another", and everyone is legitimate to say it, but for me, I could not choose one over the other, because in my opinion, it represents the two faces of our pigeon. The acoustic version for her gentle, jovial, colorful and deeply caring personality. The rock version for her badass, hardworking and unstoppable personality. Miku is a pigeon who worked hard to build her group, to get where she is, but always with kindness and the desire to please and bring a smile to the whole world, via their world domination, that's why I love this group and that Miku sometimes tends to captivate my attention more than the other 4 members (but not by much, they are all exceptional).

Great that you did a retake - I've watched it countless times and still get chills at certain parts as well as at little things like Akane's vocals and her chimes and Miku's head flick at the end and her happiness at getting all her playing and singing perfect and...lots more! Like all Band-Maid songs, it never gets old, no matter how much I play it. SA (small) YO (dawn/night) NAKI (singing) DORI (bird) = Nightingale. PS Akane is playing with 'rods', which are used when sticks are too loud and brushes too quiet. The electric version is Miku's Rock Chick moment, along with ROCK IN ME, where she's upfront, playing and singing.

They released an instrumental version of the Unseen World album. Every song on it can stand as an instrumental. It's crazy. Kanami's outro solo is twice as long as you think it is. All kind of brilliant nuggets to be found when the vocals are peeled back. Kanami always writes the music first, so the rock version is what inspired Miku's lyrics. It may seem like the acoustic was how it was intended, but they did the same thing with 14 songs. Some I never imagined could be acoustic. They can make any of them for any style because they're so well written. Brand new acoustic set happens in 4 days. I sure hope it gets recorded.

This song really shows the genius of the band. Who else purposefully reworks a song for an acoustic setting (I'm kicking myself for not going to the acoustic Okyuji). MISA is so busy on the acoustic version, but never takes anything away from Kobato's guitar or vocals. All of Mincho's added little riffs throughout the electric version does the same thing. When you watch a lot of "fan cam" videos of this song, you always see Mincho take a step back beside Akane, to allow Kabato the entire spotlight when she plays the rhythm solo. The look of pride on her face, "well done pigeon, just like I taught you" is priceless. Thanks for doing this again. I will admit, I felt bad when you lost the original. Cheers.

Thank you for your reaction. To react to material partly or fully known is fine as long as the reactor is honest about it so the viewer has a reference point on what to expect. It may be more less interesting but that is another matter. On top of that, few reactors ever catch the bulk of the aspects of a Band Maid song at first listen, there will still be interesting things. As a matter of fact, after start to listen to Band Maid and going through the bulk of the content I realized that I missed quite a lot and to listen again was always interesting and I discovered things I overlooked. That is one of the things that makes me love their music so much and what also makes good reactions so useful, there can be things that you as a reactor points out that I as fan actually overlooked, or forgotten about, which enhances my experiences at next listen. Have fun! :)

Thank you for redoing this. You are one of a few reactors who "noticed" Miku and her contributions to the songs, so I was looking forward to this. Miku does have a couple of other songs, but they are more "poppy". I believe Saiki told Kanami: "Don't write any more pop songs for Miku" so Kanami wrote the electric version of this. Miku asked for more guitar for the outro. The acoustic version was rearranged by Miku! And despite loving the guitar outro and Kanami being one of my favorite guitarists, the only guitar part I miss is Mikus little "rythm guitar" solo. I enjoy watching someone listen to Band-Maid for the very first time - the "I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't _that"_ never gets old. But the "first time hearing" concept of "reaction" videos doesn't work so well with Band-Maid. You're pretty much assured you are going to miss a high percentage of "what makes Band-Maid great" on the first listen. One thing I love about them is how often you can listen to them and still hear new things (or maybe _notice_ new things). The channels I really like are the ones that take the time to dig into their music and point out the little things they do. They touch the soul and it fascinates me. I want to know how they do it. You would think that explaining the magic trick would ruin it, but it only makes it better. So thanks for taking the time to do the "re-do." Both of these versions are unique and who actually has a favorite? The acoustic is so sweet, it has Akane and MISA vocals, and has the story stripped bare; the electric version has Mincho's outro solo that makes my scalp tingle every time she bends that high note. You know the one. One comment about Miku's voice - this acoustic okyuji showed the world how good Saiki really is, but Miku is a remarkable singer too. One thing I've noticed is how modulates the tone of her voice. In the electric version especially, when she goes into the pre-chorus she moves her voice back and down and goes more "chest voice." The way she expresses the seriousness and desperation of the lyrics is one of those magic tricks that I never get tired of.

If doing a reaction to the multiple versions in one video, might I suggest listening to the original version first? As it would set a baseline as to what was originally introduced/intended/felt. Then hearing the updated/extended/reworked/rearranged allows us to be in awe of their greatness. Especially since the "second" version are almost always a one and done. You only will hear it on the one recording/performance and rarely, if ever in another performances. Experiencing the "transformation" for the first time...goose bumps...PO!!! Kanami writes the initial compositions to Band-Maid songs (on piano no less) but she lets Miku re-compose "Sayonakidori" for the acoustic version - and Miku did a great job. The high note in the acoustic is half a tone lower than in the original version. The lyrics to "Sayonakidori" is Miku's take on Shakespears 'Romeo and Juliet'. Fun fact - Akane transposes her drum parts to sheet music, that's one reason she is very precise in her drumming. Something she picked up when she attended the Tokyo School of Music - where she met MISA. Oh and Ohrenje is a Frenchman! Something left field for your next reaction try "Bubble" - an often overlooked gem! (The MV is a tribute to Freddy Mercury - they re-enact scenes from the film Bohemian Rhapsody).

Sorry for the late comment...interesting fact about Miku's Zemaitis AAJ-3000H acoustic guitar, Eric Clapton ask Tony Zemaitis to build him a 12-string acoustic with a heart cutout and inlays. That guitar, nicknamed "Ivan the Terrible", was used during the Derrick and the Domino's era and George Harrison supposedly borrowed it for My Sweet Lord. Clapton, in a drunken rage, destroyed the guitar but kept the neck. He went back to Zemaitis, asked for forgiveness, and requested a duplicate guitar using the same neck. Clapton eventually sold it at auction for over $250000 for charity in the mid-2000's...so Miku's guitar has an incredible heritage!!!Great reaction 👍👍🤘🤘🤘

I think this is an awesome song! BAND-MAID is on point with their music every time whichever style they play ...... having said that, my hot take: I'm not into their acoustic stuff..... like I said, they nail it performance wise with acoustic, but I love the loud and harder edge of the rock versions. It is my personal preference. Their acoustic songs don't strike a chord to my soul like their hard rock does. I get emotional hearing the harder stuff than the softer acoustic, and Sayonakidori (Nightingale) reinforces that. But either way, they are the best rock band out there in my opinion!

The original (electronic) version is one of my top 10 Maid Songs. I read that Miku asked Kanami to write her a song, so she wrote this and even wrote Miku a rhythm guitar solo. Miku said that then she asked Kanami to do something more special at the end so she added that high note. Miku called it an own goal since she had asked for it. But she got to where she could hit it (although she didn't when I saw them live). As usual, Miku wrote the lyrics and I suspect had a lot to do with the acoustic arrangement.

Someday, check out their MV for "Different" which is a hard-hitting, chaotic song for an anime. In this same acoustic concert they did "Different" with just Saiki on vocals and Kanami on acoustic guitar and backing vocals. Kanami is a genius arranger. Of all the songs they did. only "Smile" had been performed previously by them as an acoustic. Though "Forward" (off of Maid in Japan) had been done previously by Mochi and Cheese (もちとちーず) with Kanami on acoustic guitar, Akane on cajon and 3 members of another group Predia (same agency as Band-Maid). (They also did an electric Forward at Yokohoma Arena, they generally never do songs off of Maid in Japan.) It will be interesting to see what songs they do for the acoustic okyuji in a few days (3/20). Miku's guitar is yet another Zemaitis.

The lyrics of this song have such deep nuance and expression that many Western pop love songs today lack, usually relying on repeating 'Baby" over and over again. Band Maid's songs as a wonderful reflection of their Japanese poetic culture, affecting me emotionally like a beautiful Haiku.

The nightingale reference is related to the story of Romeo and Juliet. In the studio version there is a spoken quote direct from Shakespears play. Akane's sticks are Cluster Sticks , also known as Hotrods- I have some- they are ideal for home drum practice or acoustic sets, as here. Miku's guitar is a custom made Zemaitis acoustic with the heart shaped sound hole. The transformation from electric to acoustic care of the genius that is Kanami.

Excellent reaction and much appreciated. I’m guessing you live in Vegas as I do. I wonder if the Amazing Maids will ever grace our city?

The Studio Coast concert, if you can find a copy of it, (you may need some fellow maidiac to send you the files) is probably the best mixed concert they have done. It's also at a magical time during their evolution as a band.

Hey Just Dunk, I hope you are having a great day! I think I remember Miku saying that she was inspired by "Romeo & Juliet" and loosely based the lyrics off the story. In the acoustic version, she uses her falsetto voice to hit that one special note, and in the electric version, she doesn't use falsetto, and the crowds (at least in the US) would go crazy every time she hit that note. Please take care and have a great weekend.

Oh cool! Hope your day is swell also Mark!

One of my former band mate, who played in a Journey cover band, had to use "Hot Rod" sticks in church just to lighten the load on the drums to control the overtones against the house mix. We soon after put him in a "fishbowl," Po! Akane the 4th V. I hope she continues to sing more often. April 1 is coming soon, DJ Achi debut album? 🦍🍌

Kanami giving Miku a fist pump of encouragement before she goes downstage for her solo. A video from another okyu-ji shows Kanami stepping out of the way back by her amp and gesturing like "the stage is yours" to Miku.

The lyrics, “Kokoro ga ubawarete,” 「心が奪われて 」means “my heart was stolen.” The translation to “entranced,” is a curious choice. AKANE (“a-ka-ne) is playing with a pair of Hot Rods, or the equivalent. Mine are a bundle of nylon sticks about the diameter of thick spaghetti.

My favorite song of miku was "voice',, its not a bandmaid song but its from CLUPPO, miku kobato's side project..

Rute drum sticks or Hot Rods are what Akane-san is using in the Acoustic set.

I forgot where I read this but it's so perfect. Miku, what do you do for a job? Miku " I'm a Rock Star" And what do you do in your spare time? "I'm a Pop Star"

You should watch Ohrenje's recent video about HIS journey concerning Band Maid. No need to react to that, but it will be extremely useful.. and you will SEE the VOICE behind the documentaries. I think it is a must watch before continuing with the documentary series. Well. maybe you can do it AFTER all documentaries ... that would be okay, I think 🙂But just to let you know that this video is really entertaining and informative.

That one high note is tough for her to do live but she does it every time. She doesn’t choose to take it lower…. Like most would …. She’s not one to take the easy road.
