I normally don't censor curse words in my videos. However, my original upload was not censored. However, it was flagged as Mature 18+ and unsuitable for ads, which means the video would have limited reach on KZbin. I re-edited it to censor it, had KZbin do a manual review and with the censorship. They then removed the mature content warning. Otherwise, the video wouldn't perform as well, because only people who are signed into KZbin (and have their account set to 18+) would be able to watch the video. A huge amount of KZbin viewers don't actually sign into an account when watching KZbin and they would not be recommended my video. In addition, I avoid putting up Mature 18+ content on my channel because after a few of those my channel could get flagged as being for mature audience only. It might interest you to learn that Ren's father, Martin Gill, plays both lute and lyre in a group that plays 12th and 13th century court music. I believe that is where Ren finds his influences for some of the chord progressions and note runs he plays.

He's such an incredible storyteller. I think the reason he has more subs on KZbin than spotify etc is that he shines when you can actually see him perform. Every time I watch this trilogy I can see the whole movie despite it only being him on screen.

A fellow Newfoundlander here. I love your channel and reactions. I got introduced to your channel via your Pentatonix reactions and I really hope, like Pentatonix, you start pumping out more ans more Ren reactions. He truly is a once in a generation talent. I agree with others that you should do the "Money game" trilogy (you will probably love part 3 the best) but the next Ren song I really want to see you react to is "Back on '74/Message in a bottle retake" since it is something that's right up your ally and you will love.

With the context of the end of the song, that means that Jenny was; a 14 year old who has "walked these streets 1000 times" and wants to "escape". Not difficult to connect those dots, to add additional tragedy.

Ren has tons of incredible, diverse, fresh music solo and with his band The Big Push. He has fabulous collaborations too. My favs are busking cover with the Big Push Wade In the Water/ Trouble so Hard Nina Simone and his duets with Chinchilla. She is amazingvin her own right.

It was great watching you piece the story together as you were watching. The ending catches most people because the violence is so shocking you half forget the first two tales. Ren is the king of single shot videos. Ren and Sam (his long time friend and videographer) recently won best director/music video at the European Music Awards for Money Game part 3. The Money Game trilogy is a must, though you don't need to do them all at once. When you get to them, it's the official music video for parts 1 and 3 (both live single shots, apart from a small cut in part 3 for technical reasons). Part 2 should be the official lyric video, as the live version isn't the full version. Really enjoyed this one, Eddie! Looking forward to more Ren! One of my favourites is 'Murderer', and when you get to it, you need to check out both the official video AND the live acoustic, just to see how much he can switch things up. ❤

Newfie!! I've been subbed to your movie reaction channel for ages, and didn't realize you did music too. Ren is an incredible artist and I'm looking forward to your trip down this rabbit hole. I highly recommend "How to Be Me" with Chinchilla, the live version. It'll show you more of his singing, and introduce you to his friend Chinchilla, who also has an amazing voice. Jenny and screechs tales were based of a real life story in london were a 14 year old boy stabbed a 'working girl' (unfortunatly ren hints that this was jennys occupation which adds even more disturbing imagry to the story) to death and was later shot and killed by police. The police chief overseeing the case finished his public statement to the newspapers saying "and it such a shame". Violets tales was released a couple years later to just top a soul crushing trilogy. All that aside ren is a master as his craft!

Had to sub to follow your dive into the Ren rabbit hole. It'll blow your mid when you see that he does everything from Rap, Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock, Ballads to instrumentals. To see a different side of him you should check out Wicked Ways from his album Sick Boi which went number 1 in the UK. Check out How To Be Me with Chinchilla. The Money Game series 1 thru 3. The Love Music series 1 thru 4 (it's about how much he loves music) and Murderer also from Sick Boi. It'll show you his diversity. And then you also might want to check out the stuff he did with his band called The Big Push. X-Box Marijuana is Punk. Precious is lite rock. They also do amazing covers such as English Man in New York. Ren's catalogue is massive.They are awesome. Peace

2-0-0-5 the Twins were born, their mother (Violet) died People say Jenny was probably selling her body Screen (James) was raised by or someone like their father Jenny got killed by screech who was her twin brother killed by the cop for Jenn'y deaths. It's interpreted that "it's such a shame" is how the world reacts to "news like that" and moves on. He wrote a whole movie and let it play backwards.

Huge fan of Ren. It’s crazy what he’s been through, and the determination he had to keep going. He’s so loved. Taylor’s fans are the “Swifties” and his are “Renegades”. His real name is Ren E. Gill - so Renegades is a great name. This was the first song of his that I heard and I’ve been going down his catalogue. Everything is completely different than the next. Truly talented, a brilliant mind and beautiful heart.

The money game trilogy is a good next step (you can do these over 3 videos). MG2 is best as the Lyric video, as the live is only an acapella of the 2nd verse and not the whole song.. well worth watching especially the 3rd one, which have won some music video awards already…

Great reaction! You can go either way with Ren - check out his new stuff like the Fred Again Mashup, or the older stuff like Humble or Everyone drops. My personal favs are Heretic, Power, Genesis, Everyone Drops, and Back on 74. He was also in a band called The Big Push - go check them out as well, especially Englishman in New York. He does a lot of hiphop, there is "Illest of out time", "Wicked Ways", "seven sins" and then check out "Makay", a instrumental to his friend who died. Of course there is "Suicide" and "For Joe" which deals with a best friend who took his own life and how it affected Ren - soul wrenching songs and a display of his versatility as an artist. Good luck, there is a lot to get through and each one is completely different from the next.

Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special. Anyway great reaction! Now you get to wait in eager anticipation with the rest of us, cause Ren has said that he and his cinematographer Sam have plans to film a pilot to pitch to Netflix when Ren has finished treatments in Canada. All we know is that it will be in the same raw style as this trilogy, but that is enough for me to say that if Netflix doesn’t give Ren his own show, they are fools 😂

Ren does so many different types of music, can’t pin him to one genre. Should see some of his rap rap like Hunger or Illest of Our Time, his newer more traditional vocals like Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake, or his Fred Again Mashup, or even his covers with his busking band The Big Push (recommend I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop, and War Pigs, both videos from the same set where he’s wearing red suspenders).

Violet and Stevie have twins Jenny and Screech. Presumably, Stevie goes away for murdering Violet, Jenny and Screech end up in the foster system. Violet was a silent girl-----------Jenny, in her fear, couldn't speak or move. Daughter took after her mother. Stevie was an abuser_______Screech was too. Son took after his father and arguably his grandfather. Screech's dad murders his mother, Screech unknowingly murders his own sister. Screech has the devil coming for his soul - and is in his chest when he kills his sister. "The devil comes to dance," is when Stevie goes after Violet and murders her. Metaphorically, Stevie is the devil. He's in Screech's chest when Screech kills his sister. Ironically, the only person left alive at the end of all this, presumably, is Stevie - the primary abuser who started it all. And isn't that the way it always tends to go? The abuser survives while his victim dies. The dealer survives while his customer overdoses. The drunk driver survives while the victims in the other car die. Odd world God has given us, huh? (if you believe in God, of course) The twins revelation is also where we learn Jenny isn't a "woman" or "lady" walking the streets at night - she's only 14. Screech didn't mug and murder a woman, he attacked a young girl, making a barbaric and heartbreaking incident all the more heartbreaking. The metaphorical commentary on generational abuse is dark, and masterfully performed.

So, it is your channel and your choice - and great reaction, enjoyed it, etc. - but I don't think you should edit an artist's work. Who exactly are you "saving" here? You heard those words! Leave the choice to the listener!

The reason it's censored is because it got age restricted by youtube. When a video gets age restricted it can significantly decrease the amount of people that can view the video and youtube won't push it. Also having age restricted content on your chanel can have a negative impact on your youtube channel overall. We know Eddie watched it uncensored by his reaction and if people want to know what the words were that were censored they can watch the original , which generates another view for Ren. It sucks but that's just how KZbin is .

It really sucks that KZbin doesn’t allow for artistic expression, and makes people censor their videos to stay monetized. It’s ridiculous. Not your fault, but it sucks nonetheless. I do appreciate you reacting to Ren, however. Thanks

I really don't get the US based contributors obsession with self censoring the F word. I just fucking don't get it. The US must be the only country in the world (maybe besides Iran and Saudi Arabia) which has a problem with using that term or seeing boobs in public or drink in public.

@@NewfieReactions Thanks for your time to give a response. However I have watched literally dozens of reactions to Ren's tales and it is very rare to see them censored. There is a large contingent of Ren supporters who watch these reactions. If you are going down the Ren rabbit hole, many will follow and likely subscribe, but be aware that a good portion of Ren's lyrics and work would be considered 18+. Having that content removed is also a disservice to the artist. It would be like picking up a copy of Lady Chatterley's Lover and having those pages torn out.
