A very perfect reaction 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟! Perfect Way was released as the fifth single from Scritti Politti's 1985 album: Cupid & Psyche 85. It was written by Green Gartside and David Gamson. It was produced by Green Gartside, David Gamson and Fred Maher. The song reached #6 on the Disco/Dance chart, #11 on the Hot 100 and #85 on the R&B chart. The music video was directed by Paula Greif and Peter Kagan. "Scritti Politti" translates to "Political Writing" in Italian. Green Gartside is the lead singer. Scritti Politti Info 📰: Scritti Politti are a British band, originally formed in 1977 in Leeds, England, by Welsh singer-songwriter Green Gartside. While at art school in Leeds in 1977, Green Gartside formed the post-Punk band Scritti Politti with schoolmate and friend Nial Jinks and art school friend Tom Morley. After Green Gartside, Nial Jinks and Tom Morley had left Leeds Polytechnic, they moved to London, later securing a recording contract with Rough Trade Records who released Scritti Politti's debut studio album: Songs To Remember in September 1982. However, subsequent Scritti Politti studio albums featured Gartside with different personnel, with Green Gartside being the only constant member of the group. Both Nial Jinks and Tom Morley left the group after the first album and were replaced by Fred Maher and David Gamson. Beginning as a Punk-inspired collective of art students and squatters, Scritti Politti released several early post-Punk recordings on Rough Trade Records before transitioning into a mainstream Pop music project in the early to mid- 1980s, enjoying significant success in the record charts in the UK and the US. The group's most successful album: Cupid & Psyche 85 (1985), spawned three UK Top 20 hits with the singles: "Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin)", "Absolute" and "The Word Girl", as well as a US Top 20 hit with the single: "Perfect Way". The band's 1988 album: Provision, was a UK Top 10 success, though it only produced one UK Top 20 hit single: "Oh Patti (Don't Feel Sorry For Loverboy)". After releasing two non-album singles in 1991, as well as a collaboration with B.E.F., Green Gartside became disillusioned with the music industry and retired to south Wales for more than seven years. He returned in the late 1990s, releasing a new album: Anomie & Bonhomie, in 1999 which included various Rock and Hip Hop influences. In 2005, Rough Trade released the Scritti Politti album compilation: Early, which collected the band's first releases. In 2006 Green Gartside released the album: White Bread, Black Beer. In the 1990s, David Gamson played a role in the rise of the Neo-Soul genre, mainly through his work with Meshell Ndegeocello. He has contributed to other notable Neo-Soul albums of that era, playing on Maxwell’s album: Urban Hang Suite and composing and playing on Angie Stone’s album: Black Diamond. Fred Maher's credits as a producer include Lou Reed's New York (1989), Trip Shakespeare's Across the Universe (1990), Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend (1991), Information Society's self-titled album (1988, which achieved platinum sales status), their 1990 album Hack, and a track on 1997's Don't Be Afraid. Fred Maher co-produced Lloyd Cole's self-titled debut solo album. He was nominated for a Grammy for his work on Fuel's Natural Selection album. In 2012, Green Gartside, who has suffered from recurring stage fright that prevented Scritti Politti from touring for many years, performed several songs by Folk Rock singer Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention as part of a tribute called: The Lady, in several UK cities. In 2015, Green Gartside was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2020, Green Gartside released a solo single on Rough Trade Records, which featured cover versions of the songs: "Tangled Man" and "Wishing Well", by folk singer Anne Briggs. As far as I can tell Scritti Politti doesn't perform live on stage in 2023.
