Thanks for reacting to Soi! What's crazy is they were like 19-20 years old when they made this song/album and have all improved greatly since. This song gets the reactions because of the breakdown, but it Is honestly one of their weaker songs. A lot of their newer stuff isn't 'breakdown' focused, but It should be noted they made this years before the current breakdown-olympics trend started after Lorna released To The Hellfire haha. You should check out "The Migrant" for one of the most insane vocal displays you've ever heard (And Ben can do it perfectly live), or "Intensified Genocide" for the most insanely quick and unique vocal flow. It's like if rap met Deathcore lol. Or something even more crazy, watch these guys perform "The Migrant" live, there is a great pro-shot video from summer breeze 2023 of this song live, it will blow your mind. Others to watch for by these guys are - Barren and Breathless Macrocosm, Malediction, Gravesinger, From Ruin We Rise, and The Catacombs

I HIGHLY recommend you check out their song The Tartarus Impalement off of the same album as this track. It's one of their more rhythmic and melody driven tracks without too much focus on typical breakdowns. It's also quite possibly one of the best songs they've ever released imo. Much love homie ✌🏻

I absolutely LOVE this song, it was one of the first songs that got me into the metal scene, and Shadow of Intent is one of the first bands I found alongside Infant Annihilator and Lorna Shore. The bass player is playing a 5 string bass, they normally only have 4 but I’ve seen people play 6-7 string bass (which are absolutely massive.) I haven’t listened to them in about half a year and I’m SO GLAD that you reacted to them because I had forgotten how much I live the big breakdown. It’s fair that you don’t like the breakdowns since you’re a bigger fans of the instruments the lack of them makes sense that you don’t like them as much.
@KaireemReactions9 ай бұрын
Wow ! I’ve never seen a bass guitar with so many strings. Can’t believe there’s more. That’s so cool ! They are amazing! The intro was fantastic and yeah it just doesn’t tickle me like most breakdowns. Not a fan of it 🤷🏾♂️

Love your excitement and enthusiasm here. As a longtime fan of Shadow of Intent, and I'm talking, they were my favorite band for years and they're still top three, not one song or album I haven't loved, it's neat to see a similar level of immediate connection and joy from someone else discovering them for the first time here. I highly recommend checking out their most recent single which dropped just this Friday, Flying the Black Flag. Take the best of their old material, the best of their new material, combine it together, and dial it up to 11, it's insanity.

If you think of deathcore as a mixture of metalcore and death metal, I hear more metalcore in this song, and I think that's why you're feeling that way about it. The other bands you mentioned lean more into the death metal side of things. This was early in Shadow of Intent's career (7 or 8 years ago) so they were young too. But the song is a little lighter because it has clear metalcore-style riffs and a more predictable song structure.

Hey man, I'm with you. I like most of the things here, but the breakdowns are almost always the most boring part of the song. The main reason I like Lorna so much is because their breakdowns actually hit harder than the rest of the song, whereas with most other breakdowns I feel they are the weakest part of the song. I think you're gonna end up liking other forms of metal a lot more than deathcore. I'm excited to see what you say about Whispered.

I think most of the og genres of metal dont have breakdowns at all. But the extreme ones are pretty resistant to new listeners .
