Now that is a surprise.

That's unusual but it could be added to full effect live. I'm guessing they got the idea late;
@michaelbastraw14934 жыл бұрын
Now the liner notes make sense where it indicates Walter Becker augmented the Dean Parks guitar solo. Actually pretty clever, adding the effect after the fact. They would send the original clean guitar through the talk box driver and Becker would re-record it through a microphone with the tube in his mouth. Now I got to try it. Best. Leo.

So much fun reacting vicariously with others. This has long been one of my favorites among many by them. While you're in that rabbit hole, I don't think you've gotten to "The Boston Rag" yet Essential.
@kylelooper21563 жыл бұрын
Boston rag has great musical moments, but the chorus doesn't fit the storyline. I imagine that the Boston rag must be some kind of ragtime jazz (a newspaper makes zero sense in context), but that has nothing whatever to do with Lonnie's story. I think they were just high af when they wrote that song, and it doesn't hold together as a story.
@rlevitta3 жыл бұрын
The attachment on the guitar is a speaker core with a tube attached to it so the sound goes up the tube. The guitar player's guitar sound is piped through that speaker. The guitar player puts the tube in his mouth with his mouth next to a microphone. The "wah-wah" effect is made by the guitar player moving his mouth as if he was singing except he's not making sound.

If you haven't done it already, you should do, 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' from 1974. Btw, the thing that the singer was using which made that sound you liked was called a 'Vocalizer' a long corrugated plastic tube which the singer would make noises through, it was very popular in the mid seventies.

If you like the sax, and I think you dooooooooooooooo, you'll give Caves of Altamira a listen to. With respect to Hatian Divorce it ends much too soon and i could listen to the groove for minutes on end and end up with a smile on my face each and every time. In addition, their music can be played at loud levels, but it doesn't have to be to appreciate what they do as opposed to other styles or bands.
