This song is actually genius, it's satire. She created a character they were portraying in the media of her.
@gdhaney13611 ай бұрын
She's making fun of the media's perception, and the myth that she dates a lot of people. She took everything they said, and thought it would be a great song/character. Taylor is the master of taking the bad directed at her, and turning it into an artistic comeback.

Also it had to be hard to date a man that was... idk like not as successful. Bc alot of men feel inferior, and maybe think why should I pay, u got more money than me. So, now, I believe she has found a great match. Her and Kelce are both established, theyre more of an equal, AND hes not afraid to step into the media frenzy with her bc shes worth it, and he can handle it. Where Jake or Joe i cant remember which one, but she felt like his secret, he wasnt comfortable being in the public eye. That has to hurt. That has to feel like after this long (like 5years??) ,that shes not worth feeling a little uncomfortable for? So, yeah, im super happy for her. I really hope this ends in marriage, kids, happiness forever. She deserves that. And i guess from what I hear, so does he. Hes a class act. So yay for both.

I love that you discovered Taylor! She is hands down one of the best songwriters of the Millennial generation. She is kind of like Eminem, believe it or not, in the way she makes us speculate about her lyrics. She likes word play and puzzles, where as Em also likes word play and double and triple entendres. Great reaction! This song actually isn’t about any of her real relationships, funnily enough. As you know from the coverage of Taylor and Travis, the media is ALL OVER her dating life. For a long time they were incessantly writing articles about how she’s a serial dater, she lures men in, traps them, then they can’t escape fast enough when they see who she ‘really is.’ She’s going out with ‘too many’ men. She’s jet setting all over the world dating. Etc. Etc. This was when Taylor was in her early-mid 20’s, like it’s not a normal thing to date at that age? Anyway, instead of getting mad, she wrote this song. She said, you know, that’s a really interesting character the media has created for me. What if I wrote a song about that person? And that song became Blank Space.
@khills11 ай бұрын
And the comments were especially gross when you consider the age differences with John and Jake - the idea that she was “luring” in men in their 30s when she was 19 is exceptionally gross. 🤢

love the word play that you can discover even after your 20th listen. Small things like, “I can make all the tables turn”. There are three levels to that one. The one in the story itself, like she’s turning the tables on her boyfriend. The jab at the media portrayal of her- she’s taking the things they say about her, turning it into art and throwing it back in their face. Finally, she’s saying she can make the “tables turn” with her music (like record player turn tables). It’s so clever and I love her for it. I also just noticed that in the picnic scene, she is literally, “eating hearts.” 😅 One more fun fact, the clicking sound she makes after singing “I’ve got a blank space, baby..” is supposed to be a pen click, like she’s getting ready to write them into a song

When this song came out, Taylor‘s dating life was being over scrutinized in the media, and she was given such a hard time about it. This was kind of Taylor’s response. I really love the humor she took with it and playing with expectations. The blank space to me was the blank space in her heart (or the heart carved in a tree) to write someone’s name and take a chance on the relationship

Eee I watch so many T Swift reactions because I love seeing people discover her, but this is the first reaction channel I’ve actually subscribed to. If you liked Ready For It, try “I Did Something Bad” and “… Don’t Blame Me” live from the Rep tour, I reckon the music video for Look What You Made Me Do is heaps of fun, see if you can spot how many artists she’s clapping back at with that one 😂 And then for some other albums, Vigilante Shit, Maroon and Glitch are great from Midnights, anything from the Long Pond Studios recording of Folklore (really good background info before each song too) and it would be criminal not to watch the All Too Well short film. I’d say it’s also worth having the lyrics up because that’s where she really shines.

The song is tongue in cheek. Coming into the 1989 era the media perception was she dated too much. It’s basically using what the media was saying about her and wrote Blank Space.
