It's funny -- "back in the day," as they say, you actually had to get up off of your behind (in the chair, couch, floor, wherever) to flip the disk over. It was a routine we were all very familiar with. The Beatles definitely employed this particular transition intentionally - I Want You (She's So Heavy) is such a weighty, monumental, long track, so much noise at the end, really quite dark; and then you get your ass up offa that floor for the reward of the sweet beginning of side 2.
@eterneh489Ай бұрын

A case could be made for heavy meaning "fat". On the last two Beatles excursions to Hamburg, John befriended a big woman named Bettina. Since that may have counted as cheating on Cynthia, the song title could be taken as John giving his excuse to her. Except he had already switched to Yoko by 1969!

One thing I would like to add: During the recording of Abbey Road, George Harrison prominently used a red Gibson Les Paul, which contributed significantly to the album's distinctive sound. This guitar is noted for producing a rich, warm, and rounded tone, particularly evident in Harrison's lead guitar work throughout the LP. The Les Paul allowed him to achieve a level of expressiveness in his solos that was more pronounced than in previous works, showcasing his evolving musicianship during this period.

In April 1969 John was very excited about the medley. But if you go back to 1963 John and Paul would say when they were asked “what will you do when the Beatles are not popular anymore?” The answer was we will write. They would continue the Lennon McCartney song writing team. In 1963 they formed a song publishing company and it was controlled by Dick James Northern Songs. By 1969 their manager had died. Dick James sold Northern Songs to Sir Lee Grade. John and Paul had written 19 number 1 hits and no longer owned the company. They took a bunch of songs and through them together. They were probably depressed thinking this nest egg they had created was for nought.
