Marvin Junior with that baritone voice was coined the "Iron Throat " by David Ruffin of the Temptations. He influenced other greats starting with Teddy Pendergrass... Check out "A Heart is A House For Love" from the 5 Heartbeats soundtrack. A movie based lovely about them and other groups of the era

Five Heartbeats is one of my very favourite movies. If you don’t get the chills when they do A Heart Is A House, I don’t think you’re quite alive. Everything about that movie was fantastic.

I loved that you got to hear the voice, and may I say the most powerful voice, Marvin Junior. Imagine being right there to experience it. I don’t know if there’s anyone that can replicate that voice. And the other distinct voice was Johnny Carter. The one that says, “my, my, my”. You’ll hear him other places throughout the song, but I think that that’s the other distinctive voice. I think the only one that is alive now is Verne Allison.

Songs like this bring back childhood memories of playing outside without the worry of crime…where neighbors took care of each other! Black neighborhoods had their own grocery stores…banks…hospitals and the such like!

Now, it’s unfortunate that I haven’t heard no one else hit that note!!! They have all died, but 1. His name is Verne Allison, he also has a son, which is a Jr. And they look just alike. The father is now in his 80’s! That, in itself is a blessing & he’s definitely looking good these days. They, The Dells, we’re out of Chicago!!! That used to happen to me too when I was younger... I would be humming the song played on the radio and ended up making the words up as I go along 😂😂 Then eventually found out that I was way off 🤦🏽🤦🏽... The lyrics that I made up still sounded good though and somehow I made it blend in 😂 (Those were Good memories) Ohhhh.... and 'Stay here my darling' was a good one! 😂😂💯💜
