I was fortunate enough to see them in concert during the Highwaymen tour. I'm not a big country fan, but they were spectacular! Best and most fun concert I ever went to. They're even better live! ❤

The Highwaymen released their album Highwayman on May 6, 1985. The album's first single, "Highwayman", also reached number one on the Billboard country music charts. The Highwaymen were a country supergroup made up of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson, who formed in 1985. The group was active until 1995. Gonna Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, and Allison Krause this coming July. Willie is 91 years old. WOW. ORDER Of APPEARANCE Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash. Kris Kristofferson wrote many songs for himself and other artists. He wrote Me And Bobby Mcgee .Highwayman" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb about a soul with incarnations in four different places in time and history: as a highwayman, a sailor, a construction worker on the Hoover Dam, and finally as a captain of a starship.❤❤❤

The second person you didn't know is Kris Kristofferson..If you have heard the song,, Bobby McGee,, Kris wrote it..Kris is not a great singer, but he is a Hell of a great songwriter..In 1958, Kristofferson was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford, studying at Merton College. While at Oxford, he was awarded a Blue for boxing, played rugby for his college, and began writing songs..Kristofferson, under pressure from his family, joined the U.S. Army and was commissioned as a second lieutenant, attaining the rank of captain. After receiving flight training at Fort Rucker, Alabama, he became a helicopter pilot. He also completed Ranger School. During the early 1960s, he was stationed in West Germany as a member of the 8th Infantry Division.[18] During this time, he resumed his music career and formed a band. In 1965, after his tour in Germany ended, Kristofferson was given an assignment to teach English literature at West Point Military School. He also appeared in many top movies and TV shows..After leaving the army in 1965, Kristofferson moved to Nashville. He worked odd jobs while struggling for success in music while burdened with medical expenses resulting from his son's defective esophagus. He got a job sweeping floors at Columbia Recording Studios in Nashville. He met June Carter there and asked her to give Johnny Cash a tape of his. She did, but Cash put it on a large pile with others. He also worked as a commercial helicopter pilot for south Louisiana firm Petroleum Helicopters International (PHI), based in Lafayette, Louisiana. Kristofferson recalled his days as a pilot, "That was about the last three years before I started performing before people started cutting my songs. I would work a week down here [in south Louisiana] for PHI, sitting on an oil platform and flying helicopters. Then I'd go back to Nashville at the end of the week and spend a week up there trying to pitch the songs, then come back down and write songs for another week. I can remember "Help Me Make It Through the Night," I wrote while sitting on top of an oil platform. I wrote "Bobby McGee" down here, and a lot of them in south Louisiana....Nelson and Kristofferson continued their partnership and added Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash to form the supergroup The Highwaymen. Their first album, Highwayman, was a success, and the supergroup continued working together for a time. Kris was a major player for 30 years or more.. Kris is 87 years old and still going strong... Enjoy the day to its fullest, you never know..

A very famous supergroup. In order of appearance -- Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. All, of course, famous on their own, and they did quite a few songs together. I'm not familiar enough with them to be able to make any suggestions, but I'm sure someone will come along who can.

""Highwayman" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Jimmy Webb about a soul with incarnations in four different places in time and history: as a highwayman, a sailor, a construction worker on the Hoover Dam, and finally as a captain of a starship. The song was influenced by the real-life hanged highwayman Jonathan Wild."

@setonhillstudios The first time I heard this song was a few years ago in a tribute to the passing of Art Bell from Coast to Coast. He would discuss reincarnation and mysteries of the soul and such topics on his radio show. A very fitting song I'd always thought. Not everyone interprets the song this way, but I do.

Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kerstopherson and Johnny Cash. You might recognize Kris as Whistler from Blade and a few western movies and episodes of various dramas. Silver Tongued Devil by Kris is amazing. Kris has written songs for so many artists. Waylon was one of Buddy Holly's Crickets and gave up his seat to one of the others in the infamous day the music died. Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and the Big Bopper...try his duets with Jessie Colter or Deep in the West (cover of Shake Russell and Dana Cooper) Waylon also broke into Willie's Trailer and helped him recover Trigger from the IRS in 94. He also was in the movie On The Road Again and Hank Williams Jr referenced him in the sing The South's Gonna Rattle Again.

The second singer was Kris Kristofferson, and if you are into lyrics, you haven't lived until you've listened to Pilgrim Chapter 33, Sunday Morning Coming Down (Austin Sessions) or Billy Dee, all by Kris. You may know a tune he wrote that Janis Joplin made famous: Me and Bobby McGee

The Highwaymen: Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash (in that order, in this song). Willie and Kris are still alive and kicking, in real life. Now I'm going to have to hand you some requests for some really GREAT country singers who have come between then and now, that I believe you will LOVE (story-telling -- many times telling the story, at least underlying, of Jesus -- is their game). Have you noticed that Dan Vasc is also who USED to be called a bard (storyteller)? With him, his love for the SOUND of metal is pronounced, BUT...he also almost completely likes (and therefore chooses to sing) songs with a MESSAGE. (Speaking of songs with a message, I'm still going with an Elvis and Dan comparison for May...will send in my request on Patreon, tonight.) THAT kind of Country isn't dead...never has been. It's just becoming more and more pronounced once again, as have the temporary "coatings" of many OTHER genres. The silliness and idiocracy that a bunch of other types of songs have undergone in the past 25-ish years, is coming back around to the better and more thoughtful things they used to be -- slowly, but surely. Hang in there! In the meantime, thank you for this reaction! 😀

This is a metaphor for reincarnation.....they kept coming back in another life. These guys were the real "outlaws" of country, who fought the record music industry to try to change their style, but they all won their victory ......they are known as the Outlaw Men and have such a reputation in the country genre.
