Willie is the only one left. Kris just passed recently. Since you say you're not too familiar with him here are some high points. He was a Rhodes scholar, flew a helicopter (and used it to catch Johnny Cash's attention), wrote many great songs: "Me and Bobby McGee" made famous by Janice Joplin; "Help me make it thru the night" (I particularly like the duet of that song with his then wife Rita Cooledge), "Sunday morning coming down", "Why me lord".

I love these men! They were all so talented and gifted in their own right and when they came together to perform as The Highwaymen they were just phenomenal! I would have loved to see them live together but live video is a great way too!! I grew up in New Mexico and loved to horseback ride through the Rocky Mountains and along the Rio Grande river. I was a rock and roll chick that loved other genre's too like country western. I used to spend weekends in Lincoln, NM and Ruidoso as well at Raton up north and trace the old cowboy and outlaw trails because I was fascinated with the history of the Old Wild West. Thanks for another great reaction video!!

Willie has big hits like 'You were always on my mind', 'On the road again' & 'Blue eyes cryin' in the rain' & they are all great, but my fav by him is 'Angel flying too close to the ground'. Willie is 91 & is still making music. Kris is known for his amazing writing & he has written several hits for other people. He wrote & released both 'Me & Bobby McGee' (written for Janis Joplin) & 'Sunday morning coming down'. (written for Johnny Cash). His versions of these two songs are very different from the artist he wrote them for, but are just as great. You should try doing a comparrison for fun.

There you go and here I am Lol Ghost Riders in the Sky has been around since the late 40s Johnny Cash version is probably the most well known though. The Outlaws also covered the song. Bit their live versions is a little muddy. Appreciate you covering the songs an artist I've suggested in the past. I'm sitting out here on the backhoe tendering ( burning) house sized piles of Deadwood. It's part of the fire mitigation I need to do in the fall and spring in the Ozarks. I see there's a lot of catching up to do on your catalog. Things have been rather hectic since the flood in the Appalachians. In the early 70s in high school I joined CAP (Civil Air Patrol). Mostly so that if I was drafted I could go in as a officer.lol Wasn't drafted but I did get my Private Pilot with instrument rating through them. (That also opened doors) Through the decades I have flown more search and rescue missions that I could recall. Most of the time it is with the STOL bush plane. This time I used the helicopter that's typically at the Arizona Ranch. So I've been/ was flying relief for a week... Have had a lot of catch up chores. Now caught up. Which unfortunately for you means I'll be commenting again.😂 🚜🤠🐂

Hey, dude! I know this song's been covered a hundred times, and they're all really good, but this is the one. (Actually, the best one ever is Cash and Nelson doing this song for MTV's Unplugged. That one will keep you up nights. As a kid, I was too immature to appreciate Cash, but at one point, along came Art Bell's radio show "Coast To Coast AM", all about the paranormal, and this, and "The Highwayman" were frequent choices for bumper music. How else was I gonna find out that Cash was a proponent of all things spooky? Mr. Kristofferson just passed recently, (I knew him more as an actor than a singer, but he did write "Me and Bobby McGee" for Janis and about a hundred other hits.) and I'm unfamiliar with Mr Jennings' work, but I heard him interviewed one time (by Art Bell) and wow, did that man have some stories. Road stories that would make Axl Rose cry. And if by some chance you have yet to hear Cash's cover of "Hurt", you're doing yourself a disservice. Transcendent. Yeah, this one's good. The Unplugged version is better. Love your channel!

Why not listen to a much older version of this song, done by Burl Ives in 1949 - he is well known for novelty songs like The Ugly Bug's Ball and I Know An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly, which were popular for children way back, but he had another side too. I believe his was the first cover version of this song after the original was released in 1948, and is rather different with a more haunting feel to it.

You should check out the songs Live Forever and The Road Goes On Forever by them. Also do Sunday Morning Coming Down. Written by Kris but Johnny’s version is the best. I’m like you in the sense I wasn’t into country per se and still not too big a fan of newer country pop, but old school country is really good. Hank Williams, Conway Twitty, George Jones, Lefty Frizzell, Webb Pierce, and of course these guys together and individually. ,
