I remember hearing this one on the radio in 1991-1992 while I was in sixth grade. Another great ballad in this style at the time was "Someone to Hold" by Trey Lorenz. He worked with Mariah Carey during her second album, and provided vocals on her live cover of "I'll Be There." She in turn did backing vocals on his song.

I remember this song he hit the scene with this song and it was a big hit but then I never heard anything else from him in an interview they did with him back. I believe it was on Video Soul people thought he was talking about a relationship and in a way he was. He said he was talking about his daughter. I guess she had just been born or I'm not sure how old she was but she was a little girl.

The record company tried to sabotage this song, saying it was corny and only Stevie Wonder could pull off a song like it. Anita Baker found out what was going on and hunted Terry down. She sent her publicist with a check for $50K and ticket to LA. She called Blair Underwood who was doing LA Law at the time and asked him to direct the video.
