The guitar you are wondering about is called a “dobro”. This is definitely my favorite Travis Tritt song. The video with Billy Bob Thornton is awesome, I highly recommend you watch it! 👍
@christinegreen39742 жыл бұрын
I was just going to say you HAVE to watch the video! I think you do with most country music songs. There's just s much to experinece from the visuals at the music.
@markfoor41372 жыл бұрын
That is not a dobro....it's a steel resonator acoustic guitar (think Dire Straits "The man's too big"). The construction, tuning and the way they are played are totally different.
@paulgillenwater5487 Жыл бұрын
@@markfoor4137not at all, they’re all guitars at the end of the day. Dobro is actually a brand that made their name making wooden resonators. They have marginally different tone and I’m pretty sure the guitarist here is using a wood resonator

In the early years of his career, Travis Tritt was notorious for "Not staying in his lane"... He played multiple styles and genres... Still does. A dobro is also known as a resonator guitar. It basically looks like a guitar with a metal plate on its face. The difference between a violin and a fiddle is... If you are playing country, bluegrass, or the like, then it is a fiddle. Otherwise it is a violin. They are the same instrument. The only difference is the style it is being played in.

When Travis Tritt first started doing 'Here's a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares)' live, people started throwing quarters on stage," Tritt told the Miami Herald for a March 6, 1992 article. "As the halls got bigger, people up in the balcony wanted to make sure the quarters got on stage."

Definitely need to watch the video for this one… Billy Bob Thornton. That’s Jerry Douglas playing the dobro, a resonator guitar type instrument. (Dobro is actually a brand name, but it has become synonymous with the instrument, like Kleenex is for facial tissues). Jerry Douglas is a dobro master and can be heard on many, many recordings. He is a regular member of Alison Krauss’ band Union Station. Just for giggles, look up some info on the dobro… it’s a fascinating, beautiful instrument that’s been used for generations in country, bluegrass, and Americana style music, long before amplification was available.

It was right before he got signed for his first album. I felt so sorry for his wife. She worked so hard to get him noticed and signed. And he was screwing every girl he could charm. He left her just after he signed his first contract. She was so sweet and gorgeous. Anywho. Yes he has some good songs. But his attitude and his mouth is why you don't hear from him much. 😊
