just came across your channel...good stuff so far. The song is about an article Tupac read while filming the movie Juice. About this situation. He's telling the story of the baby he's holding throughout the video (Brenda's Baby). Omar Epps (star of Juice) explains it in a recent interview.

2pac wrote that song after after reading the news paper article ab😢a girl who was pregnant with her cousin baby killed the baby
@685_Era Жыл бұрын
Tupac's inspiration for "Brenda's Got a Baby" came from a real-life news article he had read about a 12-year-old girl who became pregnant and tried to dispose of her baby by throwing it in a dumpster. The baby was found dead, and the young girl was eventually arrested and charged with murder. Tupac was deeply moved by this tragedy and felt compelled to tell the story of Brenda, a fictional character inspired by the real-life incident, through his music. The song addresses issues such as poverty, teenage pregnancy, and the struggles of young mothers in inner-city communities. It was released in 1991 and became one of Tupac's most well-known and critically acclaimed songs.

You got some of it wrong. The baby survived. I've read the article and "Brenda's baby was rescued by two maintenance men. (By the way Brenda is not actually the girl's name) But, In the same article it does talk about an earlier incident in which a woman strangled her newborn bab Here us an exerp from that story "In an earlier incident, the police found the body of a newborn boy, with his umbilical cord attached, stuffed into a plastic garbage bag The infant’s mother, Debra Larrier, had given birth in her apartment at the project a few hours earlier, said Officer Fred Weiner, a police spokesman. He said Ms. Larrier developed complications from the birth and went to Kings County Hospital, leaving her son’s body in a garbage bag at the curb., he said. At the hospital, doctors determined that she had just given birth. They notified the police, who searched her apartment and the bags of garbage piled in front of the project." Ms. Larrier was arrested yesterday at 5 P.M. and charged with homicide. The Medical Examiner’s Officer determined that the infant had died of strangulation, the police said."

Tupac taking the baby away in my view was him showing that the baby was now the responsibility of the community. Like he was saying in the first verse. @@flickeringboxofficial I've actually read the article that Tupac based this song off and there are some details that Pac changed. For example in the song It says that Brenda didn't really know her mom and that her dad was a junior. but actually her parents were killed in a house fire. I've want ahead and put some exerts from the Times news article next to Pac's lyrics Times: “A newborn baby was rescued from a trash compactor in Brooklyn yesterday morning when two maintenance men heard the baby’s cries just as they were about to start the crushing machine’s motors, the police said.” Pac: “She didn’t know, what to throw away and what to keep/ She wrapped the baby up and threw him in a trash heap/ I guess she thought she’d get away, wouldn’t hear the cries/ She didn’t realize how much the the little baby had her eyes…” *** Times: Lieutenant Albright said the 12-year-old lived with two brothers and Mrs. Perry. Although Mrs. Perry told the police that the teenager was her daughter, investigators said last night that it was unclear what their relationship is. Pac: “Now Brenda never really knew her moms…” Times: “She is not admitting who the father is or that she even had sex,” Lieut. Eugene Albright said. She would also not say why she tried to dispose of the baby, he said. Pac: “Brenda got herself a boyfriend/ Her boyfriend was her cousin, now let’s watch the joy end…” and “She’s twelve years old and she’s having a baby/ In love with a molester, who’s sexing her crazy/ And yet and she thinks that he’ll be with her forever/ And dreams of a world where the two of them are together, whatever…” Times: “None of the neighbors seemed to be aware that the teenager was pregnant.” Pac: “She tried to hide her pregnancy, from her family/ Who didn’t really care to see, or give a damn if she/ Went out and had a church of kids/ As long as when the check came they got first dibs…”

In my opinion, his early works were the most introspective and motivational version of Tupac. As for the line about being from the ghetto not impacting a persons growth, it's a positive and aspirational interpretation but it's idealistic to translate it to mean that environment and conditions do not impact an individuals success. I think Tupac was saying don't limit yourself. St the same time everyone knows that environment is important. It's like throwing grass seeds in barren, polluted fields then expecting them to grow at the same rate and brilliance as a watered, fertilized field. Some grass will sprout in the worst conditions but don't confuse the exception for the rule.

I have not heard of a newborn in the trash in awhile, which is good but I am sure that it still happens. I use to hear it on the news every once in awhile that this would happen. The one I remember the most, was a newborn was found in the trash at the college I attended in the first year. I would imagine that the mother was a bit older than 12 years old but still does not matter. A child not knowing what to do, and having a child. Could have even been from the high school. Was found outside in the back of the building. I am not sure they ever said if they found the mother or not, never heard. This was a very small town too. Lots of things happened, that if you were not there you would never know. This was long before social media.

First off i really like you introducing young people to 2Pac. My favorite artist was 2Pac. FYI. The image on the beanie hat 2Pac was wearing was UNLV Running Rebels. Keep up the great videos. Introduce her to Changes by 2Pac.

Its nice to see vids like this, showing youth what realness looks like. There are other "best/nicest/dopest/" rappers but he'll always be the greatest.
