twenty one pilots beats may for the most part sound jovial or lighthearted but their lyrics are some of the deepest and most thought provoking you will find in todays music.

He performed this a few days after losing a very close grandparent I believe. One of the most raw performances from him, absolutely beautiful

This song gets me everytime. As a twenty one pilots fan i don't think i could keep the promise, but the message behind this song is so important.

Have you reacted to Redecorate? Another super deep and emotional one from twenty one pilots.

It’s interesting listening to this again after watching many reactions for Ren’s song Suic*de. Tyler Joseph (lead singer of TOP) had to fight with their label to get this song on the album. But he knew it was an important message. Tyler wanted to call out the danger of the glorification of suicide particularly amongst celebrities. This song came out not long after the loss of Chester Bennington, who was a big fan of twenty one pilots, so I always think of him when I hear this 😿 And yes, Tyler has struggled with severe mental health issues. It’s a strong theme in nearly all of their music, even though he often pairs it with an uplifting beat. But his goal from the beginning has been to write music that makes people think.

Not listening very hard at all! Missing most of the depth if you remember it all as jovial. None of it is that.

A year later, but I came to say this exact same thing. I wonder if he just placed them into a box based on the melody and didn't listen to the lyrics. The majority of their catalogue consists of angst, depression and suicidal ideation, and how to overcome them. EDIT: All the crazier since he had reacted to "Migraine," of all things, before this.

Goner or Trees live both from fox theatre make for great reactions.

If I remember correctly, Tyler actually had to fight to put this song on the Trench album because the record label didn't want it on there.

Their whole catalog is amazing, so you cant go wrong with any song. But from their first album i suggest "Friend please", from their second album "migraine". Those are two of my favorites.

Yea ending ones self is often the subject of Tyler’s songs. He just usually dances around the subject and uses upbeat music. In this one he was far more direct.

I think you are just starting to scratch the surface of their catalog. While it has been a fairly consistent stylistic choice for them to give you more up-beat sounds to help uplift while lyrically they often tackle deep and often tragic or confronting themes and issues. The deeper you get into their catalog the more you will encounter Tyler using his music to explore painful topics from his own personal issues, to songs with a more pointed cultural critique. It's just that like with most bands the songs that blew up the most were often the most topical subject matter wise. In truth I can't think of a single song by them that's not worth experiencing at least once. I think my least favorite is "House of Gold", but it's still a solid song. Songs like "The Pantaloons", "Kitchen Sink", and "March to the Sea" are good examples of their more abstract and experimental early work (actually the whole of their self-titled album is worth a listen.) While their Trench album is spectacular and is possibly their strongest album overall, yet I'm torn as to my favorite. I personally loved some of the harsher sounds and heavier hip-hop influences they experimented with in the albums Blurryface and Vessel. Even their newest album Scaled And Icy is a totally different sound but still eminently excellent. In other words you could literally pick out one of their songs at random and you're likely to be blown away with very few exceptions.

You said to recommend a good that you should watch/listen…… Dude you could just pull up a list of all their songs, close you eyes and point anywhere cause it’s all good, I mean obviously there’s some songs that I like more than others but I’m not exaggerating when I say that even tho I’ve been with these guys since Vessel so I’ve heard them all, 5 albums and soon to be 6 and I have yet to hear a song of theirs that I’d say was a “bad” song man 😅😉👍
