If you're going to start with an album, I'd start with Vessel - then I'd just follow them chronologically - Blurryface, Trench, Scaled and Icy - they do technically have two projects before Vessel but the very first album did not have the current drummer and the second album was pretty much destroyed by their record label - Vessel was the first album they made after being signed to a major label

The music videos for most of the songs you learn about are definitely a better listening experience. Also you see the vision of the artist by watching the video. Not to mention I feel is a better experience for the viewers seeing the whole package even tho the pilots rock this one out
@bibitch2 жыл бұрын
I agree, because live performances can sometimes be difficult to hear especially if it's later in the show. Singers' voices can get tired after a while. TOP concerts are always such a blast and are definitely worth a watch, but after you're already at least a little familiar with the song in question. And anyway the music video for Holding on to You has always been one of my favorites! I think it's really beautifully done.

I would add the warning that if you do listen to the first album, be prepared to probably cry a little or a lot, depending. I know at least for me, there are a few songs on that album I can't get through without choking up or crying at least a little.
@anthonymiller36012 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think he should react to Vessel, Blurryface, or Trench before diving into Self Titled. I’ve seen too many attempt Self Titled without listening to their newer stuff and it kind of brings people away from the band in general. Self Titled is something new listeners need eases into first. Just my opinion.
@matta3442 жыл бұрын
@@anthonymiller3601 I agree with that, actually. It took ne some time to actually begin to enjoy the self titled album. It was one of the ones I had to start listening to the words before the music, because it was so different from what I was used to.

Every album is a trully different experience. Not like a little different, but a trully different experience. The face masks are explained on Vessel. The red colors are explained in Blurryface. Yellow in Trench. Then SAI is it's own monster.

I may be jumping the gun when I say- welcome to the clique (the fan base) I see it happening- it generally does. As suggested below go in order of album release if you TRULY want to understand Tyler Joseph (lead singer) and his song writing/creative process and genius. Also (unless copyright seems to be a big issue) going with the actual music video, if available, is your best way to see into his brain- all videos are the image he expected them to be. You have truly discovered a musical masterpiece in Twenty Øne Piløts- have fun!!! Can't wait for the next one

Bruh idk why you insist on doing live versions for songs with music videos… is it cause of copyright? You want to see how the band is live? 9/10 the live show performance aren’t as good as the studio versions.
@dejahwilson2682 жыл бұрын
Twenty One Pilots just might be the exception to this general rule. Them live is usually better, as he writes the songs to be played live, not for radio or videos. The reason for watching the videos with this band is that they tell a story. Edited to add- the band produced live videos 😉 not some random persons live video from a show with random fangirl screams right in the microphone

Just came across this because I've seen you do some other reactions I really love, but had to stop it right away. I know its your channel so you do what you do, but IMO it's a serious error to do an initial reaction to a live version of a song unless specifically requested to react to that version. If you want the TRUEST PUREST essence of what that artist is trying to convey, react to the original video. While there are artists that can pull it off live, or even sound better live, they are the exception. If you were reviewing the original video, I'd watch. Humor me, just as an "experiment", & re-do your reaction using the original 21 Pilots video and compare the viewing statistics. Not only that, but I think you'll love his/their vision for the song. 21 Pilot videos (some at least) are awesome. I personally love several of their live videos too, but for every one, I only watched the live performance after viewing the original video to "set the bar" so to speak. Again, my opinion only. I enjoy your reactions so I hope you'll consider it. Videos I highly reccomend besides this original video would be Car Radio, Ride, Guns For Hands & Heavydirtysoul. Live try Fall Away (featuring Dr. Blum of MisterWives) and Heavydirtysoul (Live at Fox Theatre).
