Fewer is supposed to be for distinct items or units that you can count, whereas less is supposed to be for things you can't count. For example, it would be fewer people, fewer books, or fewer calories, but it would be less water, less pressure, or less food.

2:32 Funny Story, I actually had people jamming to Weird Al in my high school music appreciation class. We had to do and present a project on an artist and I chose Weird Al. It was so much fun. This was when White N Nerdy was new, and it went over so well! I think the tracks I played were White N Nerdy, Trapped in the Drive Thru, and a Complicated Song. But it’s been a hot minute lol.

Oooh!! Have you heard Weird Al's songs The Night Santa Went Crazy, Christmas At Ground Zero, or Pancreas??? Weasel Stomping Day and Canadian Idiot are two more of my favourites especially since I'm Canadian. We got roasted by Weird Al in song!! You know you've really made it when Weird Al parodies your song but being the actual subject of one of his songs is a rare honour!! ☺🥰🤣

Notice how when he mentioned the words containing numbers, he used that to throw a little shade at Prince. He's done this on a number of occasions because Prince would never give him permission to parody any of his songs. He did make a vague reference to one in "Amish Paradise" though.😁

A good example of the difference between irony and a coincidence. It's ironic that in 1967 the summer of love started on a street called hate. It is just a coincidence if you traveled across the country and saw somebody you knew on vacation.

A few suggestions for your consideration: "Break Your Heart," Barenaked Ladies (COMPLETELY different vibe to "One Week." Studio or live are both excellent. I could add more but we'd be here all month, as BNL's my favorite band. XD) "Fat Man in the Bathtub," Little Feat (Specifically the Waiting for Columbus version; that's the go-to album for most of their stuff. "Spanish Moon" also slaps.) "Just One Victory," Todd Rundgren (My all-time favorite artist, and he doesn't get half the love he deserves.) "Come Downstairs and Say Hello," Guster (Based on how much you enjoyed that live cut of "Nights in White Satin," I recommend looking for a live performance where Guster also brings in an orchestra. It's a magic completely different from the studio version.) "Trilogy," Emerson, Lake & Palmer (You will not believe three people produced that much sound.) "Love, Reign O'er Me," the Who (This was Mom's favorite out of their entire catalog. Quadrophenia is honestly their best album overall, and this is one hell of a closer for it.) And finally, a Weird Al deep cut - "King of Suede." Weird Al in 3D was one of two tapes that lived in my Walkman until I upgraded to a portable CD player, and that was my favorite of the lot.

5:11 There are *fewer* glasses of juice than there were before. There is *less* juice in that glass than before. The way to tell is to try and say it both ways and see what works. "There are less glasses of juice on the table." "There is fewer juice in the glass than before." You can hear it. It becomes clear that the second group is incorrext.

I do love me some Weird Al. I've been a fan ever since he showed up on the scene. My all-time favorite is "Melanie". It's just so good. And not a parody, it's his own song. But this song is close to my heart. I have a friend who texts me all the time, and when he types anything, every single time, he uses "too", when he means "to". I don't understand it, why is he adding an extra o? At some point I did have to point it out, that "too" is when you mean something is extra or overly, and it made no difference, he just disregarded what I said. His last text to me, a couple days ago, there is it, every "to" is a "too". He's not stupid. But dang it it's hard to text him when this is how he types. And that's why we don't text him more, I can't take it. Oh, and that reminds me, the last part of this song, which Weird Al talks about how people don't seem to understand the difference between literal and figurative, that reminds me of how people don't know what irony is. Which makes me think of Alanis Morrisette's "Ironic", which has not even one actual example of irony in it, not one. But, as someone pointed out, the fact that people are still talking about her song and it's lack of examples of irony, is actually pretty ironic. Well played, Alanis, well played. Oh crap, I'm rambling again.

I used to teach English as a Second Language and English is very hard to learn for non-native speakers due to the mix of vocabulary borrowed from so many other languages. Which is why spelling is so all over the place. Then you add in idioms and things get really complicated.

You are going to get plenty, but since you mentioned less and fewer, less is for uncountable nouns such as water, sand or rice, including time and trouble. Fewer is for nouns you would normally count (countable) such as people, cars, animals... etc. Having a song parodied by Weird Al is an honor any artist would consider a bucket list item or lifetime achievement goal. Very few have passed up the chance to have their song parodied when presented and it was highly regretted. Additionally, Affect is a verb. It is easier for some people to use the "A" in affect to mean "action". The hurricane affected food supplies. Effect is mostly used as a noun and can be more easily remembered that the "E" can be "End Result". To know if you are using "effect" correctly, swap it in the sentence with "end result" and if it sounds right then you are golden. The effect (end result) of the hurricane was an interrupted food supply. For the more simple minded like me. You can put an "ed" on the end of "Affected" to make it past tense. Can't easily do that with "effected."

Reminds me of Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny, “now I axe ya”…. That’s a trait of some people’s speech and some accents called “metathesis”. Google it. It’s especially common with the words “ax/ask” because they have always been interchangeable homonyms since Old English. Chaucer used “ax” and “ask” interchangeably. Happens commonly with words like “desks” or “facts”, but famously Bush 43 could only say “nucular” for “nuclear”. The more you know…🌈
