This is my favorite Weird Al song; love me some clever wordplay. I'm a grammar nerd, and one of those people from a certain generation who cringes when things are spelled or pronounced poorly. I have to constantly resist the urge to correct it. If you have a genuine learning disability that's one thing, but so much of it is just laziness.

This is also my favourite Weird Al song. It's perfect.
@jaredwonnacott97322 ай бұрын
Laziness like how you probably say piano instead of pianoforte, bus instead of omnibus, or fort instead of fortress? A lot of things that Grammer nerds call laziness or improper English are actually just natural parts of language development. We're constantly going through new vowel shifts somewhere in the country, and we're constantly adding new words, redefining old words, and even adding meaning and connotation to words that are otherwise consistent. Language is a living, growing, fluid thing that is never stagnant and always changing. Some things are just wrong, but not because of the "rules" so much as because they cause confusion in communication, which is, of course, the opposite of what language is supposed to do.
@kelqueen99982 ай бұрын
@@jaredwonnacott9732 I agree with you about language constantly changing, and mostly I don't have a problem with that. Maybe laziness isn't really the word I should have used. Willful ignorance maybe. Not caring about the difference between there, their, and they're. Awe instead of awww. (Or vice versa) Expecially, pacific, could of, etc. The most recent one I've been seeing is weary instead of wary.

That's how you prove you have a first addition a lot of times is by the typo in it

Both "Lost" and "Good Times" were in their Television Font. My favorite reference in this video is to Alanis Morissette's song "Ironic" in which she sings "It's like rain on your wedding day". Weird Al sings "Irony is not coincidence" and the pictures are of a Fire Truck on fire (irony) and rain on a wedding day (coincidence). I've always called Morrissette's song "The totally misnamed song" as nothing it that she names is at all ironic and it was just nice to see someone else call her out.

Weird Al also starred in a song be Epic Rap Battles of History, playing Newton against Bill Nye. Beautiful stuff.

@@SaeedReacts. They're generally very good, though given they rely on personal and historical references to the people or characters involved they're mostly good if you know something about the people.

When I see typos I blame the publishing company not the writer.
