A small thing, but heartening - the little patches of bright green lawn grass that survived and revived since the fire, dotted around the grey ashen land. This same sense of rebirth is why I hope to soon see the banyan tree sprouting again.

8:19 - The Lahaina Store building from 1916 survived the 1919 Lahaina fire because it was made of non-flammable reinforced concrete. That fire, more than 100 years ago, stopped literally up against the right side of this structure. As can be seen, it's still standing today, although gutted of all its burnable interior fittings. I hope that it's still structurally sound enough to be an early target for renovation and reopening. Seeing something restored would be a great sign of hope.

Yes, the Lahaina Store building was a hard one for me (Jess) to see. For the last 11 years it was Fleetwoods on Front Street...Thats actually where Joe and I met because we both opened that restaurant in 2012. Jess continued to work there for the entirety (behind the bar). We then started running there social media together in July 2021 which allowed us to travel more and pursue our dreams of world photographer, travel blogger and travel vloggers as we can do that job anywhere in the world. If it wasn't for that building, the people, the experiences and the oppurtunites I've had there, I wouldn't be who I am today.

The cause of the fire was NOT downed power lines, PLEASE do research. How do you determine a cause already when thet havent even been in there to do a full investigation? HI Powet Co started removing lines even tho residents cant even go in there! They messed with a potential crime scene. Also too many facts point to other factors not mentioned. Jess and Joe, I've been evacuated for fire in the past and did not know where my teenage kids were for 3 days. My house was spared but houses on the next cliff were not. We are so concerned for Lahaina folks! Our island is bone dry and there have been 3 cigarette fire incidents in the last 2 weeks. Let's all take care of each other!

I made Hawaii my home~or rather the islands welcomed me in a few years ago…after having to go mainland to tend to family and not being able to return yet, it’s a little excruciating not to be there to lend a good hand. A downed power line is not what caused the fire. This was a planned attack with Direct Energy Weapons and Thermite. This is what has been uncovered. Anyone who looks at this devastation knows that this is not normal and definitely is not a Wildfire. This is the truth. My heart breaks for these people and pray for them and that Justice will be swifly served for the perpetrators.

Thank you for the beautiful images at the end. i literally cry every day for Lahaina and its people. We have owned a timeshare there in Kahana since 1992 with regular visits to Lahaina during each of our stays. We were just there in March. That is the Lahaina I will remember not the ashes and devastation. I just had Dole Whip at that corner shop. So sad. I really hope it comes back in a way that pays tribute to all that was there before. I will help support Lahaina in any way I can. West Maui is my second home.

Search national guard blue roof tarp sign up program ... for certain houses ... plausible denial. Blue house paint ban some time prior to this. A microwave laser is composed of coherent blue like. We Live In St. Bernard Parish Louisiana a Neighboring Community Of New Orleans. My Wife is a CT Tech and Had Hurricane Duty at Chalmette Medical Center Hospital, Long Story Short, We Had 15' of Water at The Hospital and Had 9' of Water In Our Home For Days Due to a Levee System. Our Entire Parish of St. Bernard Parish Was Completely Destroyed, After a Shinook Helicopter Rescued My Family Plus Our 2 Dog's After Being Trapped For 5 Day, We Weren't Able to Return to Our Home For Over a Month, This is Why I Said, Our Not So Similar Disaster, Due To Our Structures Were Still Standing, But Completely Destroyed, Every Home, Business and Vehicle Destroyed. I Watched My Truck, My Wife's Jeep and Daughter's Car Flood and Sink, I Remember Thinking, This Parish, My Subdivision, Our Home Will Never Be The Same Again and Its Not, Since August 29th 2005... It Took 5-10 Years Easily To Get Back Some Normalcy. I'm So Very Sorry For You and Your Beautiful Community's Loss and Will Continue Praying For Maui and You 🙏🙏🙏 Trust and Believe in God To Steer You In The Right Direction, One Day Lahaina Will Be Back, It's Going to Be Awhile, But You Will Be Back, Be Patient and Keep The Faith, May God Bless You All... 🙏😇🙏🤙❤️‍🩹

This video was a therapeutic way to help us grieve. We lived in Lahaina, Joe is from Lahaina, Joe's mother lost her home, his sister and family of 4, most of our friends, Joe's classmates, our neighbors, our colleagues...our community lost everything, including us. Many have it worse and lost family members 💔. This was a raw/real taste of whats going on and a tribute to Lahaina and a way for us to remember the good times 🙏.

I have never experience the pain and loss of losing a hometown and a place you lived and experienced so many memories. I was fortunate to visit Lahaina in 2022 , what a magical place. I just remembered taking pictures and dancing with the Baynan trees . I could feel the happiness and energy there. I'm truly devastated. Maui will rise from the ashes ❤
