JUST got a lunch reservation at Mama's Fish House because of your tip at 11:37... Road to Hana: Bathrooms are not plentiful. Go when you can. Don't wait until you have to. Very scenic. Lots of waterfalls. You could be driving along the mountainside, looking down at the ocean. Next turn, you're in a forest. Be sure to check first. We went one day while it rained - on and off. Next day, the road was closed. Therre's an aquarium. Great way to entertain for a few hours. Even learn about the island. Do not feed the chickens. You'll see.

Our governor has as sked tourists to postpone their trips to Hawaii. We are inundated with over tourism during this pandemic and really don't want you here right now. Our rules and mandates have gotten stricter too.

I have to layover in Maui for 4 hours. Why should I go? What should I do during layover time outside the airport?

If you only have four hours, you want to make sure that you leave enough time to get back through security etc. You can go to the town of Paia to go shopping or stop at one of the surf beaches near that town. Have a great time. Thanks for watching

You are obviously not from here. Why are you recommending people even come here right now! No open restaurants, most places closed, and lots of closed shops. Also, it costs $200 A DAY for a rental car. I have seen people even renting u-hauls because they couldn't get a car. Right now is NOT THE TIME to be encouraging people to come here. The beaches are so full of people, and what restaurants are open often run out of food after waiting in line for 2 hours.

We just got back from 9 days in Kihei. We tried to cancel the trip when the governor said don't come but would have lost the condo costs and air fare. Maui travel always goes down in September and October anyway so no where was crowded. All the restaurants we like ie: Monkey Pod and Coconut's Fish House were open and we ate many great meals from the gourmet food trucks near Azeka plaza. We always rent a car from a locals owned car rental place and the cost of the car was only $60.00 a day. Overall it was a really great trip. Maui requires that people show a vaccine card to go into restaurants and bars. DON'T GO TO MAUI UNLESS YOU ARE VACCINATED FAR IN ADVANCE AND UPLOAD YOUR CARD TO THE MAUISAFE COVID SITE. You might have to quarantine if you don't and they are strict about it when you get off the plane in Maui. The hospitals are still full in Maui so don't go there if you have any medical conditions that might need hospitalization.
