Karolina's coffee at Phuc Long is cold because she ordered "Cafe Đen Đá" which translates to "Coffee black ice". That's why you didn't get the option for cold or hot because the drink has ice in it. Thanks for sharing your travel with us. Amazing to see people get an opportunity to experience my hometown. I grew up on Hàng Đậu (soy beans/tofu) market. Hàng Than (coal market) has really good bún chả (obviously lol). The dessert you like with the giant floating ball is chè trôi nước which means Dessert drifting in water to describe the glutinous rice balls filled with mung beans floating in a light ginger syrup. It's my most favourite of Viet desserts. We used to only get it during the holidays because the country was very poor. Now you can get it year round.

you are walking in the Old quarter, that's why it's so narrow. Enjoy your trip to Hanoi. It's call Tricycle or Pedicab.

Hello!! I am Vietnamese!! Wishing you both a happy trip and many interesting experiences in Hanoi, Vietnam!! There are 17 days left for our country to celebrate Lunar New Year. On this day we have an extended Tet holiday. Most restaurants and eateries will be closed. If you two have a schedule in Vietnam, please prepare in advance a place to rest and eat during those days!! Wishing you both peace and good luck!!

There are more than 36 streets in ancient Hanoi. 36 streets refers to the 36 streets start with the name "Hang" (guild/trade). However when they did the math Hanoi old quarter had more than 36 streets start with the name "Hang" before 1945 ...the explanation was 36 is a special number used a lot in ancient China and Vietnam for many elements, therefore in written text in the ancient time they just used 36 streets to mean abundance, developed, lots of trades and merchants etc ....
Thank you very much for sharing this video with us ❤❤❤

The reason why your black coffee has ice is because you ordered coffee with ice - ca phe den da (literally translated coffee black ice...da means ice). I love how that guy just made your food for you because he knows you're a foreigner and likely don't know how to cook it. LOL! Usually, if you see a bowl with salt, black pepper, and lime, it's a sauce for your protein. You're to squeeze the lime onto the salt and pepper and stir it up and use it as a dip. If you enjoy that meal, go look for the turmeric and dill fish famous in Hanoi. Love that retailer that sold you the pullover.

@@JayandKarolina This is why I recommend a food tour to foreigners. Many foreigners eat the food wrong because they don't know how the sauces are to be mixed or which sauce should be eaten with what or how to wrap certain foods, etc. Hanoi has amazing food tour guides, too.

Frankly say, Hanoi looks dated behind other SEA’s cities.
@JayandKarolina8 ай бұрын
It has more the laid-back atmosphere and still sticks to the small town kind of architecture. We quite liked not having big roads and skyscrapers around the Old Quarter 😊
@HoangLe-rc5vb8 ай бұрын
He is in the Old Quarter that's why it looks old. That's part of Hanoi's charm because it allows you to connect with the past. There are modern areas as you move away from the Old Quarter.
@doodahgurlie7 ай бұрын
And that's why Westerners love it. Hanoi doesn't try to be Western like other SEA cities. It keeps it roots, traditions, culture. if you're a Westerner traveling around on vacation, that's what you want to see. Not the same ol' stuff you can see in your own home country. Those whom aren't Westerners don't get the appeal as they only think modern is best, which is sad.
