Get out of the touristy areas for at least a day, you'll find good food at lower prices people happy to see you welcoming friendly helpful willing to show you thing you won't see or experience in the more crowded touristy areas. You'll have a good time and won't regret it
I agree with the first couple, my wife and I had a budget and (somehow) came in significantly under budget. One trick is convenience stores, 7/11, Lawson, Family Mart - you can buy food there and take it back to your hotel room, or for a 'picniku'.
@@user-bd3hq6gf6s8 That is shocking. Thank you for your honesty 💓👍🏻!

Read about a Japanese company that went to more "western" work schedule. After a period of adjustment by the workers, mainly dealing with the added free time. The company found all the work was being done, employees were happier and the pregnancy rate went up. Which a good thing for Japan. The article also said other companies were looking to changing to a "western' work schedule.

The birth rates in Italy and Spain are lower than those in Japan. Even though they have a large number of immigrants, the birth rates in the UK, France, and Germany are about the same as the Japanese birth rate. Working hours are longer in the US, Australia, and New Zealand than in Japan.

Alcohol is so incredibly cheap in Japan compared to some other countries. I was there in May and I went to costco with my friends. There was a bottle of wine that I sell at my work that retails for $47 CAD and it was at that costco for ¥1460. I was totally blown away! I bought a bottle of shochu for my friend for ¥1600 and that same bottle here is $36CAD. It's insanity. RTD coolers here are like $3.80-4.30 each - in Japan they're a fraction of that.

Beer is more expensive in Japan compared to Canada. Imported Japanese beer (not Sapporo which is brewed in Guelph in Canada but Asahi or Kirin that are actually imported) are cheaper in Canada than in Japan where they're made. On the other hand some wine and all liquor are cheaper in Japan, including imported Canadian whiskeys.

There are a lot of factors that determine product pricing in different places. Where I am in Ontario, a large portion of it is due to the Provincial government regulating alcohol distribution. There are a lot of different factors that determine the final price. Asahi sold in Canada is imported from thailand and Kirin sold here is imported from Italy. As you mentioned, Sapporo here is made demestically by Sleeman, so yeah it's going to be substantially cheaper.@@jayroi1814

Are the vending machines always fully stocked? The various vending machines are nice for people that speak minimal Japanese or may feel anxious about ordering food from a restaurant. Over here in the US all depending on where you go, half the items are empty or the machine will just take your money. Japan seems like such a nice, clean, and quiet place to live.

なぜ、歩きながら飲んだり食べたりするのでしょうか。観光ならば、小休止し、周囲の風景を眺めながら飲食したほうがずっと良いと思います。 Why do they drink and eat while walking? If they are sightseeing, I think it is much better to take a short break and eat and drink while watching the surrounding scenery.

Something I noticed japanese people love to compliment your Japanese & we native English speakers do the same to Japanese people. I dream of going to Japan I want to see my friends in Tokyo & saitama.
Most things are allowed in Japan as long as you don't commit crimes, hurt people, or make other people feel uncomfortable with your selfish behavior. Of course, drinking in the city is also OK. However, I personally don't like being drunk on the train.

I am visiting Japan for almost a whole month, mainly in Tokyo. I am concerned about finding public restrooms, worried about being able to recognize them when they are around, and I also need to know when it is OK to go into a restaurant or store to use their restroom!!! I know how to ask, "Do you have a restroom?" and "Where is the restroom?" however I don't know enough Japanese to understand their answers if the answer isn't *very* simple 😅😂😲!

most of Japanese people learn English in school for at least 6 years, we just dont get used to speaking english, so please speak slowly with very simple word and make shorter sentence. They can understand and many people would like to help you, because you are the guest in Japan.
