No, we shouldn't try to understand their racist hatred. The Japanese soldiers who did terrible things in Korea have all died, many decades ago. Japanese tourists who come visit Korea have nothing to do with Japanese Imperial army from 80 years ago. Japan has become one of the most peaceful countries and is a huge consumer of Korean culture (kpop, kdrama, food...), many Koreans come to study and live in Japan. You can hate with all your heart the Japanese soldiers who committed those crimes a long time ago, but if you hate the peaceful Japanese people who come to visit Korea, you are not better than those Japanese imperial soldiers.

Neither would I be quick to come to a judgement that people can't move on if they hold grudge on the past. It really depends on the harm that was done upon them, isn't that so? Even though we don't have other details about the lady, but we simply cannot dismiss the suffering the older generation Koreans have been through during the war..perhaps, and I'm guessing, that old lady and her family might have gone through the war. Same thing when you come over to Singapore and you happen to be a Japanese and you get nasty remarks or being discriminated by a local elderly. There could still be some elderly left who are victims of the war. You can't just say that they are racist because they are victims. Their experiences are real. My late granddad was 100+ years old when he passed on. He was from China and he came to Singapore and suffered both Japanese occupation of China in his days as a child and later on Japanese occupation of Singapore as an adult. The killings and torture and rape by the Japanese were beyond atrocity. And he still had so much hate towards the Japanese when I remembered the very last conversation with him when I was a little kid. He had moved on with his life. But the hatred is there.

WTF. Really that happened to u guys?? That lady must be literally insane. Plz dont mind that crazy lady`s rudeness, and I hope you guys be able to forget it. Even though we, Korea have such a sad colonial history, the hatred against Japan normally happened in diplomatic or political conflict situation, not usually in that kind of personal contact each other. I'd like you to believe that most Korean do not express that kind of hatred to Japanese tourist or resident in Korea directly, even not have such an uncivilized intention. However, it doesn't mean that we've alreay forgiven and forgotten everything about our history related to the colonial period. People must be remained in justice and fairness, same as to those two nations. We don't hate Japanese people mostly, but just are sensitive about their goverment's political provocation, and this stance seems to be also mirrored by Janpanese. I feel really ashamed of her. What a crazy person she is. Hope u guys have wonderful time in Korea. Just forget it. She might be abnormal person, as well as very small minority among Korean people.

Korea and Japan have a long and bitter history. But there's NO EXCUSE for for what happened. You are so happy and positive and warm-hearted and ALL of your subscribers hate seeing you upset. Please try not to let one bigoted, ignorant, racist person get you down. We love you guys.

I absolutely agree with you that she shouldn't let that incident affect her since the prejudices or even possible discrimination she faces wasn't a result of her own behaviors. However, we also cannot label that old lady as ignorant and racist because we simply cannot dismiss the suffering the older generation Koreans have been through during the war..perhaps, and I'm guessing, that old lady and her family might have gone through the war. Same thing when you come over to Singapore and you happen to be a Japanese and you get nasty remarks or being discriminated by a local elderly. There could still be some elderly left who are victims of the war. You can't just say that they are racist because they are victims. Their experiences are real.

@@lecherhao86G'day lecherhao. I am not fully in agreement with you. Tia was abused because she is part Japanese. To abuse an individual for no other reason than their race is the definition of racism. I understand that the lady probably had been through terrible experiences, and I'm geniunely sorry for that, for her to be racially abusive. But she needs to be educated that people are not to blame or responsible just because they are Japanese. She needs to be taught that the perpetrators are to blame and not every Japanese person is to blame. I understand that the people of Singapore went through a lot during the war but to excuse a person for making racist and abusive comments because they were a victim is still excusing racism. The fact that they have suffered incredible hardship and cruelty and violence and far worse is a terrible, terrible thing and is worthy of bringing to light and worthy of robust discussion. But for me it doesn't excuse their behaviour towards innocent people who were not involved in any way. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one Lecher. ( I hope I got your name right). Regards, Simon.

@@simonfarrow3541 well Simon, thanks for the comment. It's unfortunate that the lady had to go through such trauma if that was really the case. We are just speculating here anyway. I doubt education can work given what she's been through. What she needs for her misplaced anger and animosity is counselling and therapy. Provided that she's opened to that. But all of us can agree that the best approach, which Tia had adopted too, is to just quickly leave the place and away from the abusive person. There's really no point in trying to talk sense/ counterargue her when we were never in her shoes, to walk the path that she had.

Is it expensive in Korea? How much were the food, lodging n shopping 😋
@OnePackWanderers2 жыл бұрын
All included, we spent $103 that day. $66 was for the hotel and the rest was food and shopping. Korea is definitely more expensive than Southeast Asia but still less expensive than the United States or Europe.

The eyes make up and eyebrows style tia, they are so beautiful with your big eyes and thin eyebrows but accidently they accentuate your japanese features and tell on you on your japanese root. ( Koreans have slightly different eyes and most have mono eyelid, and they are extremely sharp on sighting people of other asian ancestries, especially Japanese)

Great video, you capture how the first few days are always expensive and confusing no matter where you go. In terms of your new mics. you might find that getting a Lav mic and putting the transmitter in a pocket ect to be a good option, less bulk ect. Regarding Korea, I have to say seems to expensive and too rigid for my tastes thus far.

Whodathunk you could get decent food at a 7-11? Just today, I saw a post in which the person was saying that the bánh mì sandwiches at 7-11 in Viet Nam are the best. 🤷 Looks like you missed out on something there. 🤣 I'm looking forward to seeing you take the food game up a notch in future videos. 😉 That old Korean village looked awesome, like right out of a movie. That's one of my favorite things about traveling (even here in the State)....being able to walk through older neighborhoods like that and feel like I've walked backward in time to hundreds of years ago. There's nothing like it, and it's just impossible to capture that in pictures or video. Thanks for sharing!

Nobody deserves racist/xenophobic/hateful comments, even more so for stuff not even related to them. With that said, these things are bound to keep happening and are being fueled by the Japanese government too irrationally denying for almost a century now the atrocities they have committed in Korea, China and SEA in the past. Prejudice can be fixed by educating ignorant people but also by acknowledging the crimes and suffering. There cannot be true forgiveness if the perpetrator refuses to admit guilt.
