This performance is from 1970, MTV came about in 1981 and this broadcast is from 2009. Notice the “R.I.P.” in the corner. Motown records wrote their songs. They weren’t allowed to write their own songs until they were all grown and they moved to a different record label that allowed them the freedom to do that.

All of MJ 8 siblings still live. MTV debuted in 1981, when MJ was 23. The Jackson Five weren’t allowed to write there own songs when they were in Motown records. They had writers doing it for them. Which is why in 1976 they left to CBS records (epic) and started to write a lot of their own stuff like they wanted. Unfortunately Motown had copy rights to the name Jackson Five so they legally had to change their group name to The Jacksons!

Once he joined the group Michael was ALWAYS the lead singer. He was older and taller and his voice started sounding more mature when Randy joined the group. Quite a few Jackson brothers continued on in music when they all went their separate ways. After Michael, Jermaine was the most successful brother. He had mad hits of his own and wrote for a lot of big artists including Whitney Houston. Then Randy had a group that did pretty good for a little, Marlon tried going solo but didn’t stick to it. Jackie is mostly a producer, and Tito gave up music to raise his kids and eventually supported their successful music career. He just recently started doing solo music.

Hi, Love the Reactions💯 Michael is the Only Brother That passed, along with Marlons Twin (passed the same year born). And Motown wrote their Songs until they Left the Company in the 70’s. Also, the other brothers Tito, Jackie, Jermaine, and Randy continued the Group til 1989, while Michael solo and was touring. And Marlon left. Also after they Left Motown to sign with Epic Records, They had to Change their group name to The Jackson’s because Motown had the rights to the Jackson 5 name. While the Jacksons were with Epic they were allowed to right and produce their own craft which is why their music is very groovy under that Name. The last time the Brothers performed together was when they was on the Victory Tour together in 1984 (Jackie was injured most the tour). They later performed again for the 1st time in YEARS in 2001 for Michael’s 30th anniversary for his Solo career. And that’s the last time they all performed together. Michael unfortunately passed 8 years after.
