Actually, the song it is about his mom, but not in a loving way. His mom dropped him into an orphanage all of his childhood and when he was older he escaped to the city to start his career as a little singer in some bars and night clubs. Then he was in jail to be at the wrong place at the wrong moment and he was discovered as a great singer at jail for a very famous female singer that was there for a Charity event. In all this time, his mom was not even knowing where her son was, and didn't care either. By the moment that he met her again, many years later, he was all great and famous and his mom knew, that what ever she did to try to fix things with him where beyond the effort. Her son was to great to reach it. At the end, she was not even trying to fix things with him, and she died with all this regrets and pain and guilt bottled into her heart. He wrote this song as a way of claiming for a love that his mom never even made the effort to give him and a way of say "I forgive you, please love me and let's try to make this work".

I also grew up listening to this song while my Nana made flour tortillas before the break of dawn..I didn't know at the time that this song was Juan Gabriel feeling after his mother's death, his mother abandoned him at a church I believe when he was very young, only 4 yo, she couldn't afford to keep him but why she denied him after he found her, after he found fame. He NEVER gave up after finding her. This was one more effort in hopes his voice reaches the afterlife to her. I hope they're together now and she's holding him closely.

To be fair it should be said that Juanga's mother did not abandon him at all. She started to work after Juanga's father died. So, Juanga's sister Virginia took the responsibility of caring for her 8 brothers. She was young, so it was very difficult for her. Virginia nurtured Juanga until the age of 7 years old when he was older enough to be enrolled at school. Thinking in his own safety, Juanga's mother enrolled him in a boarding military public school, where he lived until the age of 15 years old. His mother was a strong and cold-minded woman, mainly as a result of the hard situation she faced. She was a full-day maid in a rich house but her salary was very low, and she had to support 8 children by herself. Because of his amazing expressions of love for her mother, I think Juanga recognized that she gave her best effort to support him and his brothers and sisters.

In the intro of the song when he's dedicating the song with so much love and respect to all the mothers that came to see him ( he's also says especially to all the mothers that are a little bit further away from me meaning to mothers that have passed away). This song was written for two reasons, one, the lost of his mom, and two, the lost of the daugther of one of his best friends, Rocío Durcal. His daugther was drown on a pool in Acapulco, thats why that line "i have the most saddest memory of Acapulco... We all cry with this one, is just... Too close, too on point. His songs are DEEP. Some are fun. This one is PURE SADNESS and real for him.. *Memories of my younger years as a kid, even as a young adult till now. These songs move the soul* I grew up listening to this song while my Nana made flour tortillas before the break of dawn..I didn't know at the time that this song was Juan Gabriel feeling after his mother's death, his mother abandoned him I believe when he was very young, only 4 yo, He NEVER gave up on her after finding her. This was one more effort in hopes his voice reaches the afterlife to her. I hope they're together now and she's holding him closely. *"Hasta que te conocí"* is the biopic of his life. Much respect for him doing the film. *RiP Juan El Divo De Juarez* EDIT: thank you world for taking interest in his songs. His life was complicated and although he had love of millions he sought the love he needed only from his mother.

I lost my dad almost 5 years ago. He'd been in the hospital a while after a massive heart attack and we almost lost him then. It looked like he might make it, but he didn't and he passed away a week shy of his 65th birthday. This song tears me up because it makes me think of him. The hardest part of it is not being able to talk with him, hearing his advice or words of encouragement when I need them, or being able to tell him about his two grandsons and they things they accomplish. Your reaction to this song is very genuine and it's hard not to cry when you know what the song is about. God bless.

Dedicated to ALL moms , present and past. I hear this one and i get sad and tear up. .but i remeber how my mom (RIP) really loved all his songs. Back packing through south america yrs ago hia videos would be played on overnite busses and locals would ask where we're from...when we said Mexico the first thing they would say is Juan Gabriel.....and how beautiful his songs were. He truly was loved throughout latin america . RIP to him as well. Thanks for the review!!

Juan Grabiel would do this to you brother.... I done walked out of parties when they play this song especially if I'm drinking 🍸. This song will rip me into pieces emotionally 😪 💔. The cry in his voice the emotion the passion he sings it with and his amazing band of musicians .
