I was one of 'em bro.🤘 19 when it came out. Luckily the station in Lincoln NE had the balls to play "Hollow" a lot, then "Walk", but you're right, they were not mainstream like Britney spears, lady gaga, or Taylor Swift, and we dropped our $ 14.99 on the counter & took it to number 1. I love the interview where Terry Date says : When the band got together with me to do the album, they kept repeating, it's got to be heavier than Vulgar Display of Power. (He gives a long pause and says) And I'm thinking how the hell are we gonna do that? 😁 Well, they did it

Far Beyond Driven debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 in 1994. The heaviest album, to this day, to debut at #1. They beat Bonnie Raitt and knocked Ace of Base down to #3. All without radio or very little MTV play. That is a diehard fanbase.

@brandondickie34562 жыл бұрын
@@ogClownBaby Yeah they’re awesome. I think they’re all kinda equally great tbh, I think now, my two main ones are VDOP and FBD, on vulgar I love the ‘accessibility’ of Dime’s guitar, the production quality is insane on that album and it’s like he combined his crazy soloing on cowboys from hell with their harder and heavier sound, it’s like a masterfully done bridge between cfh and fbd, I think far beyond driven was when they got a lot more heavy and serious with the actual themes, Phil’s pain started to get to him and you can hear it all over the album, it has a dark atmosphere to it as if it’s foreshadowing something bad, and two years later in 96 the music world finally saw what was foreshadowed. I think far beyond driven is the album where they went as dark and extreme as possible, while still maintaining their unity and stability, it’s like a nuclear reactor running perfectly and completely stable, then gstk is what happens when that nuclear reactor explodes.
