Thanks for watching! Yeah, Pantera certainly brought the energy with this one. I'm glad to finally be introduced to some of their music. I've got plans for Disco Volante real soon (I promise!). I'll do my best to get that video up by Valentine's Day. I definitely need another dose of Mike Patton, haha!

Sweet, can't wait! Also curious what you'll think of "The Night THEY Came Home" from Mr. Bungle. It's different from the first 3 albums but still really good! Other than that, I think you will like "Far Beyond Driven" from Pantera as well.

She has to do California in between DV and The Night They Came Home, right? I love DV but it took a looooooooooong time to "get" it. California is perfect right out of the gate.

@@RobbHollen I've actually done a California reaction already! :)

Hi Molly, I enjoyed your reaction. I have never heard of this band before. There songs sound like the songs that they would include in the old WWE Pay Per Views and video games. Very heavy and fast paced which goes with the sport.
@mollyesanborn7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, VERY heavy and fast music, I love it! Definitely check the whole record out in your own time if you get the chance.

@@mollyesanborn Yeah, it reminds me of the early 00’s rock music. As I said some of the tracks remind me of the classic WWE games from the 00’s

This was a nice surprise, seeing you react to my favorite album from my favorite band. Yeah, they were known back in the day for 2 things - their crazy ass live shows and the guitarist, Dimebag Darrell. He and his brother Vinnie Paul on the drums (may they RIP) started the group and released 3 indie albums that are not easy to find. They also had a different sound, more glam/hard rock. When they recruited vocalist Phil Anselmo, they became the groove metal kings you hear on this album. Hopefully you come back to them at some point and if you do, I recommend checking out their major label debut, Cowboys From Hell.

Oh awesome! I can see why this is your favorite album, this thing is absolutely jam packed with energy and a lot of variety too. Such a fantastic introduction to Pantera's music. I'll definitely be doing more of their albums, I'd be really curious to check out their early glam rock projects too, that would be very interesting to hear!

They invented groove metal with this album. My jaw dropped to the floor the first time I heard Mouth For War

Groove Heavy Metal, never thought you could put Groove and HM together, but man Pantera did it.

I'm not sure if it was pointed out already, but on Live in a Hole one of the distortion effects used is a talk box (sometimes referred to as voice box). It's an effect that lets you control the sound of the guitar using your voice, kinda mixing them together. A famous example of its use is Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi, where you can almost hear the guitar go "wow wow" in its verses. Awesome reaction! And what an album to start with Pantera, arguably their best but definitely check out more of them! Well earned sub from me, keep up the great work! ❤

Thank you for the reaction Molly. One of my favorite bands and albums of all time. Hope you continue down the pantera rabbit hole. R.I.P to Dimebag and Vinnie. 🙏

Haha! I'll be pronouncing acoustic that way until the day I die... and yes such a fun album! So oppressively heavy but they fuse a lot of other elements on it too that make it so entertaining to listen to. Glad you enjoyed the reaction :)

Another great reaction! They had been around for 11 years at this point ('92) and Nu Metal (allegedly) started around the same year and for sure the genre took influences from them, nice that you picked up on that flavor.

Started listening to them in middle school, back at their start with phil (yeah, I'm old). Great Southern Trendkill is my favorite album of them, followed by Far Beyond Driven, but this album is great! Love Regular People and Mouth for War.. and This Love. Edit; If you want to see Phil's range, check out Cowboys from Hell.

Yes......YES!!!!!!!!! PANTERA, LET'S F'N GO! This and Cowboys from Hell I have played the hell out of. Especially Walk, that is a heavy metal anthem. I still miss Dimebag Darryl, he was taken from us way too soon.

Pantera is amazing! This was a spectacular introduction to their music, no wonder they've been suggested so much by you all in the comments. Can't wait to hear Cowboys From Hell, along with the rest of their discography!

Some suggestions. You did Helmet and I think you might want to do a couple of more from them. Highly suggest Meantime and Betty if you want to continue with them. You need to do Ministry's The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste if you are liking that rabbit hole. I also suggest the band Prong. I think they are kind of underrated in their influence on Nu Metal. Prove You Wrong, Cleansing, and Rude Awakening are great albums, imo.

Awesome album. Definitely up there with some of the best metal albums of the 90s along with Demanufacture by Fear Factory, Burn My Eyes by Machine Head, and many others. I’d say do their next album Far Beyond Driven next. I’m actually seeing Pantera with Metallica live later this year. Pretty pumped.

Yeah this record was amazing! They absolutely poured the energy on to this thing. Fear Factory and Machine Head are two other bands that I need to get to soon, can't wait to hear what they're going to bring to the table. And enjoy seeing Pantera live with Metallica! That's bound to be a wild time.

Love this album breakdown. one of my very favorite albums. very complete and deep. SUGGESTION. since you look like you could be related to Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) who is one of the best guitar player born into this world, you should review Extreme - Pornografitti. It too is a very complete album. But they are quite dynamic in their song choices, much like queen was. And the musicianship is insane.

As much as I love this one, still think that The great southern trendkill is their top, closely followed by far beyond driven. This band is a great way to link the late 80's thrash metal and the early 90's alt metal. They make that transition so smooth.
@mollyesanborn7 ай бұрын
Ooh I cannot wait to hear both of those albums! Vulgar Display of Power was fantastic, what a great introduction to this band. And yes that link you mentioned between the 80's and 90's metal sound is so accurate, this album was a great blend of both styles.

Seconding Trendkill as my personal favorite. I'd say it's their most aggressive record but still has that iconic Pantera groove. So much fun!

First video I've watched from you, and I love that you've listened to the whole album. You asked at one point if there was 2 vocalists, no. That's all Phil. Phil in particular very much changed his vocals on this album with the screaming/distortion he placed on his vocals. Pantera was good about evolving their sound on every single album. You asked which Pantera album next... that's hard to pick just one album. I'd like to say just listen to their albums chronologically starting at Cowboys From Hell... but maybe do the album that reached #1 on Billboard 200 charts: Far Beyond Driven.
